They're starting to sound like Nintendo. :/ Such positioning only works if the games are actually worthwhile.

You debunked nothing. MS and Sony both rely heavily on 3rd parties to push their hardware. Did you think I was saying that's exclusive to Sony? But bear in mind 360 did sell more exclusive software than PS3. |
Have you ever thought that half the reason for the sales is because MS got half of the active Sony gamers to switch sides? Yeah, I guess not. I've spoken about this before. Look at Microsoft and Sony's numbers last gen and a good chunk definitely came from last generations PS2 crowd that transfered over (me being one of them at the beginning of the generation) when MS had the head start. Microsoft sells more because they are a better direct marketing entity not because of their ip output. Xbox Live gave them an edge with multiplayer games but somewhere during the end of the generation it leveled out for games like COD. The majority of those gamers majorly buy multiplayer so they are loyal to no flag.
Sonys sales are everywhere for exclusives because they spread their exclusive count so thin. People cannot afford every game they make. They need to do what MS did and slim down the list, but instead of allowing third parties to deliver the bulk of their offerings like their first party studios accomplish this with back up from second and third party.
If those gamers switch back the numbers will also change.

the difference here is that Nintendo actually made some games that proved specs and graphics are meaningless like Super Mario Galaxy and Xenoblade Chronicles, Microsoft so far seem like they're all just shooters and TV XD

He does have a point though, that it's the games that matter, not the specs.
Better specs don't necessarily correlate with better games.

"Great" is a very, very high rank for some.
There are about 12 games across all platforms for the 7th gen that I'd call "great."

I honestly have no idea what you're babbling about. All of this is irrelevant.
I hate that you waste your time with convoluted responses. You could be playing games instead.

People would be stupid not to buy the console with prettier graphics if its also cheaper and has the games people want.
When did pretty graphics turn into a negative ? " OH No the graphics are too good I won't buy that." But its also cheaper and smaller. "Nope"
Good Graphics are a positive thing and if the game libraries are the same or very similar it could influence alot of people in the end. Games are more important but in the case were Sony and MS platforms get mostly the same 3rd party games graphics are a factor. We will see soon how much of a difference it will translate to but people tend to buy the superior version and graphics are definetly a plus there.

so is that Sony's excuse for not having sustainable IPs?
