Ah, the 90s, what a time!

Looking back, I love the irony that of all the SNES games they could have picked to show the "slow/weak" SNES, they picked Mario Kart, a game Genesis couldn't have done because of the Mode 7 scaling.  XD

But yeah, the ads are so freaking entertaining in how blatant they are, you'd never get away with them today. (Sady!)

Feel free to post the "most blatant" one you know of. It'll sure be enjoyed :D

Nintendo vs Sega was better because that was when exclusives ruled all and brands had truer identity. Nintendo ran the living room with fun multiplayer and massive third party and first party exclusives and Sega ran the arcade/home world. I would say Nintendo vs Playstation was far more entertaining than MS vs Sony because it was still about exclusives.

 Microsoft made gaming less about exclusives and brand pride and more about online updates with new Xbox experiences.

I think Sega vs. Nintendo wins this because it was pretty much a 2 horse race at that point. Now it is a 3 horse race.

snes and genesis, that was just a viscous rivalry and they were complete opposites in terms of systems back in the day.

Thank you. Sony and Microsoft are the same difference. That is why if I have a PS4 I won't get an Xbone because it is basically the same thing.

So, Nintendo Vs. SEGA was the greatest console war there will ever be. I'm replying on a 3DS so I cannot show the harsh commercials. And that's what made it a nuclear war. There was no soft, hidey, talking. It was "We're better than Nintendo. Look how fast Sonic The Hedgehog 1 is compared to Super Mario Kart." Unlike today's console wars shots were actually fired. Bombs were dropped. And each had great games to back themselves up. Sega had Phantasy Star, Sonic, Sports, Golden Axe, Ristar, Shinobi, Alex Kidd, Kid Chameleon, Streets of Rage, Gunstar Heroes and so on to combat Nintendo's Super Mario, Zelda, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, Final Fight, Megaman X-, Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, and the list goes on. Now that was a console war! We won't see another one quite like that thar EVER! Now Sony Ms are like "we have Final Fantasy to battle Final Fantasy" "We have the same games as the other guy. And that is why Nintendo won't fail like many people desire.

Nintendo vs Sega was a higher tier war than whatever Sony and MS has right now.

Ninty vs Sega felt personal and very mean. lol!

Now its just mud slinging where one PR would do worse than the other. You can even say Nintendo vs Sony was more entertaining. Now its just the fanbase that openly attacks each other while Sony and MS just gives them a bone here and there as ammunition.
