Nintendo vs Sega was better because that was when exclusives ruled all and brands had truer identity. Nintendo ran the living room with fun multiplayer and massive third party and first party exclusives and Sega ran the arcade/home world. I would say Nintendo vs Playstation was far more entertaining than MS vs Sony because it was still about exclusives.
Microsoft made gaming less about exclusives and brand pride and more about online updates with new Xbox experiences.
