Nintendo vs Sega rivalry was done via commercials and in person.......which is done this gen as well.

And check out the SNES vs Genesis lifetimes sales gap. Not even close. This gen was all about a struggling PS3 clawing and scratching to eventually take the lead. Its a statistical tie now, far more drama then SNES vs Genesis.

Genesis had a head start and was winning for a few years, and Sega's vicious mocking of Nintendo in commercials and such was beyond any of M$ and Sony's mud-slinging.

Aha it's funny how I was about to vote Sony vs. MS and then nostalgia made my mouse say "nope" and clicked Nintendo vs Sega.

MS and Sony were too similar in style and library, and their mockery of each other too mild for the war to be as entertaining as Ninty vs Sega.

Did Nintendo ever actually mock Sega? I know Sega went at it hard, especially with all those Genesis commercials, but what exactly did Nintendo do to fight back. They always seemed to be the passive type.

Ah, the 90s, what a time!

Looking back, I love the irony that of all the SNES games they could have picked to show the "slow/weak" SNES, they picked Mario Kart, a game Genesis couldn't have done because of the Mode 7 scaling.  XD

But yeah, the ads are so freaking entertaining in how blatant they are, you'd never get away with them today. (Sady!)

Sega had 52% of the market in 1993. Most of SNES sales lead came from selling well into 1995 and 1996.

I never knew of a console war before MS entered the fray... growing up me an all my friends would play on all the systems. Just depended whose house we were going to that day...
