Maybe someday?

Too bad the video quality is so poor.

But yeah, someday in the (mid-long term) future we will get games like that.

I think I've decided who my main digital PC games retailer will be and why everybody should go this route ...

IMO, GoG is the best PC games retailer since they allow for backup copies and none of the online only bullshit but the downside is their EULA only allows personal ownership only so no sharing, trading or even selling it but good enough for me if I want offline access to my PC games ...

In conclusion, fuck both Steam and Valve for not changing their EULA to guarantee that their games won't work without an online client and from now on I'll make god damned sure that I'll also be able to backup my DLC/updates if possible or make sure to get a "content complete" version of the game ... (it's harder than I thought to preserve PC games)

DRM isn't mandated on Steam.
They do offer a very light implementation of DRM, for the devs who do want it.
Perhaps it would be wiser to be angry at devs using DRM, rather than a platform that aims to accommodate as many people/companies as possible.

Well hopefully this makes its way to PC.
Sure: not everyone will be able to run it, but it never hurts to give people the option (they could us a EULA to stop commercial use).

That's BS, every time you do a fresh install you have to log in to Steam online to authenticate your copy ...

internet connection requirement = DRM

My only criticism towards GOG is that they don't sell wallet cards like other stores do. Leaving consoles aside, Valve, MSoft or even EA have them, yet GOG doesn't. And that's a problem because I don't care how safe their system is, I don't like my credit details online.

I can assure you that, if they launched those cards, I'd buy a lot from them.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/skyrim-high-poly-project-mod-significantly-increases-the-number-of-polygons-for-numerous-objects/
Modder ‘LucidAPs’ has released a really interesting mod for Skyrim Special Edition. This mod adds split-screen support to the PC version of Star Wars: Battlefront 2
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/this-mod-adds-split-screen-support-to-the-pc-version-of-star-wars-battlefront-2/
When Star Wars: Battlefront 2 came out, it supported split-screen functionalities on consoles but not on the PC. And, as you may have guessed, modders were able to release a mod that restores this mode on our platform.

>>You can also get this mod from Nexus Mods, but you'll need the Frosty mod manager to run it.

The Witcher 3 mod painstakingly recreates the UI and HUD from E3 2014 demo
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-witcher-3-mod-painstakingly-recreates-the-ui-and-hud-from-e3-2014-demo/
The Witcher 3 is one of those RPGs that people just keep on playing and keep on modding. Our roundup of the Witcher 3's best mods include some projects that are still ongoing and totally rework combat and leveling into a different sort of RPG, while other mods are hellbent on making the game look like it did in early demos. To that end, a recent mod called E3 UI and HUD promises to restore The Witcher 3's interface to what it looked like in 2014, a year before CD Projekt finished the game. Overall it makes the menus and map a little more flavorful and less utilitarian, which could be a nice change if you already know The Witcher 3 like the back of your hand.

This GTA 5 realistic damage mod adds nerve damage, heart attacks, internal bleeding
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-realistic-damage-gta-5-mod-adds-nerve-damage-heart-attacks-internal-bleeding/
During the closing cutscene of GTA 5's Jewel Store Job heist mission, I noticed Michael (under my guidance) was riddled with bullet holes. I mean, I was glad to make it out alive, but given the state I'd left De Santa in, he really shouldn't have been breathing never mind walking, talking and negotiating the next score.
With this in mind, SH42913's GunShot Wound mod adds a degree of realism to Grand Theft Auto 5's firefights and considers how you may, or may not, recover thereafter.

>>Get this mod from gta5-mods.

Benzies alleged he was unlawfully dismissed and was entitled to unpaid royalties in excess of $150 million. Now, the ex-GTA 5 producer has suffered a setback in his case against Take-Two, Rockstar, and Dan and Sam Houser.

https://www.pcgamer.com/hack-the-deep-web-and-hide-from-hitmen-in-offbeat-horror-game-welcome-to-the-game-2/
Welcome to the Game 2 is a first-person horror game about hacking. You play as investigative reporter Clint Edwards, and it's on you to rescue a woman named Amalea from a group of mysterious masked hitmen. Your only clue is a clip of Amalea pleading for help, so to track her down you've got to dive headfirst into the deep web, the portion of the Internet which doesn't register in normal browsers or search engines.

Hearthstone's next update will let you borrow a friend's deck and play it against them
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstones-next-update-will-let-you-borrow-a-friends-deck-and-play-it-against-them/
With Hearthstone's Witchwood expansion just three days away, Blizzard held their customary pre-expansion livestream today to show off the rest of the set's new cards and to wisely take any excuse to put Day9 and Ben Brode in the same room. And while plenty of cards were exciting, for many people the best thing to come out of today's stream was a new feature called Borrowed Decks which—you guessed it—let's you borrow your friend's decks.

Your Far Cry 5 companions hang out at a pizza joint together when you're not with them
https://www.pcgamer.com/your-far-cry-5-companions-hang-out-at-a-pizza-joint-together-when-youre-not-with-them/
A while back I spent three days following my Skyrim wife, Mjoll the Lioness, after dismissing her as a follower because I was curious if she would really walk all the way from Solstheim to our house in Solitude (she did, with some adventures along the way). I had the same curiosity about my Far Cry 5 followers—when I dismiss them, do they legitimately find their way back to their respective homes?

The Myst 25th Anniversary Collection will bring the full series to Windows 10
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-myst-25th-anniversary-collection-will-bring-the-full-series-to-windows-10/
2018 marks the 25th anniversary of the great point-and-click adventure Myst, and to celebrate the big birthday Cyan announced last month that updated versions of all the games in the series would be released later this year. Today the studio launched a Kickstarter to support that effort, with details on what's coming—seven games instead of five, for one thing—and how they're being updated.

>>This has to be one of those Kickstarters to gauge the real interest of the players, right?

Try the demo for Renaine, a 2D platformer 'about overcoming failure'
https://www.pcgamer.com/try-the-demo-for-renaine-a-2d-platformer-about-overcoming-failure/
Renaine is an 8-bit 2D platformer about an immortal knight, Aine, trying to avenge her friend Ren by killing a dragon. It sounds like a standard fantasy setup, but developer Octosoft insists there's more to its story, and I'm inclined to believe them because there's certainly more to Renaine's platforming than meets the eye. Luckily there's a free online demo you can try for yourself.

Portable fort-sprouting grenades are coming to Fortnite
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-port-a-forts/
Dubbed Port-a-Forts, the items sprout "a quick defensive position upon impact." It's unclear what type of fort they'll spawn, though I'd wager they make the basic recon fort or variations of it. We're assuming it's a throwable and not a trap-based item due to the use of "impact" in its description.

Nexon has been fined by the Korean Fair Trade Commission over loot boxes
https://www.pcgamer.com/nexon-has-been-fined-by-the-korean-fair-trade-commission-over-loot-boxes/
Three game companies, including free-to-play giant Nexon, have been penalised by South Korea's Fair Trade Commission over the use of loot boxes. Nexon, NextFloor and Netmarble have been fined a total of around $1m over deceptive in-game item sales, including randomized loot boxes. Nexon suffers the brunt of that figure, with its share coming in at $875,000.

>>It's starting...

This week's Humble Bundle is the Humble Strategy Bundle, including games from the Endless series, Total War Empire Collection and Tooth and Nail.

Humble also has a book bundle about video games, Humble Book Bundle: Game Studies by MIT Press. I am somewhat tempted to buy it.

Tomorrow the expansion Intrigue will be released for Galactic Civilizations III and there will be some streams for it. One with with Quill18 at 2:00pm ET and after that at 3:00pm ET one with AngryJoe and Stardock's CEO Brad Wardell.
