Decided to nab Seven:Days long gone, but also decided to write the Star Ocean port off the to buy list, as it comes with that horrid DRM, as well as not supporting 144hz monitors.

And before anyone says, no, no I didn't purchase a 144hz monitor, just to turn it down to 60 for every brand new game. It's lazy af to not support monitors out there, that have been on the market for years. CDPR and AAA pubs/devs have managed support for 144hz, even indie devs. SE is just lazy.

When I first played Resident Evil 3 I was genuinely terrified by its S.T.A.R.S.-hunting Nemesis antagonist, who would respawn after death and chase Jill Valentine screen-to-screen. Now, you can introduce the brutish Pursuer to the realm of Skyrim.

Ashly Burch will return as Chloe in Life is Strange: Before the Storm bonus episode
http://www.pcgamer.com/ashly-burch-will-return-as-chloe-in-life-is-strange-before-the-storm-bonus-episode/
The videogame voice actor strike that recently concluded led to kind of an unusual situation this summer, when union member Ashly Burch, who provided the voice of Chloe Price in the first series, was replaced with a non-union performer for the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm. By all reports the new performer, Rhianna DeVries, did excellent work on the series, but with the strike settled, Burch is returning to the role for the bonus episode, Farewell.

After 24 years, this classic Nihon Falcom JRPG is playable in English on PC
http://www.pcgamer.com/after-24-years-this-classic-nihon-falcom-jrpg-is-playable-in-english-on-pc/
Japanese RPG developer Nihon Falcom has been making games since the early 1980s, and almost all of its games started on one Japanese PC or another. But until just the past few years, only the occasional console port ever got an English localization. Most recently, Falcom's Ys and Legend of Heroes games, translated by XSeed, have found success on Steam (with four games released in 2017 alone). And now another Falcom game is finally playable on PC in English, though not through an official localization—24 years after it was released on the PC-98, Brandish 2: The Planet Buster has a fan translation.

The big news out of Bungie came yesterday, with the arrival of both a major blog post and a podcast that took a hard look at the current state of the game, and promised major improvements in the future—beginning on December 5 with the release of the Curse of Osiris expansion. But there's still a little bit left for today, in the form of a DLC trailer previewing some of the new weapons and armor coming to the game—some of which may be familiar to fans of the original.

Abandon Ship gave its first ever public demonstration at the PC Gamer Weekender 2017, and has spent the last several months teasing its horrid sea monsters, brutal weather system, and picture frame map structure among other things. Yea SE are disappointing with these PC ports, I was tempted to buy World of Final Fantasy until I read the reviews and found it to be capped at 30fps which is just bad it's like why add 1440p and 4k support and keep the game capped at 30 :( Surely they can spare such a small amount of time and add 30,60 and 144 as options for max frame rate.

I'm not so tempted to look into getting FF XV, after seeing what they've done with Star Ocean.

Also, I learned today, that setting your Steam profile, social media and all to friends only, means you're a troll and that's apparently the only reason anyone would choose said option.

This coming from the web dev of Freedom Planet's website. She has some sass on her I tell you what.

And another crazy month of Steam stats... Windows 7 (64-bit) is now at 70% of the surveyed data (and 72% of the Windows systems).

The macOS-share is down to 1.35% and the Linux-share is down to 0.27%:

I felt bad for the AMD share, so I added a few mobile R7 + R9 GPUs that were under my radar before. Small stuff (0.01% - 0.04% each), but every bit helps.

Nevertheless the AMD share still fell under 5% of the Steam survey data. (I don't count entry level GPUs like Radeon R5 or GeForce GT without X).

The GTX models on the other hand (Kepler and newer) are now at 76%. Pascal for itself reached 30% of the Steam survey data:

The Top 10 of GPUs on Steam are all Nvidia cards. And here it is getting ridiculous:

  • the GTX 750 Ti has 3x the share of all AMD GPUs above (14.61% vs. 4.75%)
  • GTX 960 and GTX 1060 aren't far behind, they each almost reach 3 x 4.75%
  • the top 4 GPUs (750 Ti + 960 + 1060 + 1050 Ti) are more than half of the survey data:

The hardware base of Steam systems that can keep up with the current consoles should be around 160 million units.

For comparison PS4 + Xbox One (including PS4 Pro + Xbox One X) are around 100 million units:

Those Windows numbers still make little sense.

And it's also very revealing how bad has been Polaris/Vega for AMD in the consumer market. Sure, they may have sold lots of cards thanks to miners, but it's been a big failure for gamers.
