Welp, I took a gander at those BF sales from EA and ubisoft and both are incredibly shit
"Competition is good", yeah, it's good when said competition is within the same space. But when you have someone like EA and ubisoft, both of which own their own stores, no one can force their hand, because they are selling their own games within their own stores. Sure you can buy Ubisoft's titles on Steam, but the chances are high that their prices on there won't go any lower either.
I feel like Indie devs, as well as sites like GMG and GoG, are the only ones who do deep discounts on games anymore.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

What where you expecting? The days of huge savings on sales are sdly gone. Even on Steam, only some indie titles or really old games reach discounts higher than 75%, and not always.
That said, there are a couple of good deals in those sales. A nearly 30% off from AC Origins is quite good for a new game, and Dragon Age Inquisition for 5€ is quite good too.

Humble fall sale includes Titan Souls, Enter the Gungeon, Hollow Knight and other great indies
http://www.pcgamer.com/humble-fall-sale-includes-titan-souls-enter-the-gungeon-hollow-knight-and-other-great-indies/
The Humble Bundle fall sale is in full swing, and in addition to free copies of Brutal Legend, it's filled with big discounts on great indie games. The entire sale is a goldmine, but publisher Devolver Digital's library is especially rich.
Destiny 2 is discounted in Blizzard's Black Friday sale
http://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-is-discounted-in-blizzards-black-friday-sale/
Blizzard's Black Friday sale on Battle.net is a lot like Blizzard itself: There's not a whole lot in the way of variety, but what they've got is really good.
Destiny 2 is probably the biggest deal on tap. The standard edition is on for $40, while the version with the expansion pass bundled in is $68, and the digital deluxe is $75. But you can actually do a little better on the standard release at https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/destiny-2-pc/">Green Man Gaming, which has it on for $36. (GMG's Digital Deluxe pricing comes in higher, though, so you'll want to stick with Battle.net if you're after the big package.)

Pitting Star Wars against Star Trek in Star Wars: Empire at War

Trek Wars: Revival is a mod by Captain Kavok that lets you add Star Trek factions to Empire at War, Petroglyph’s excellent Star Wars RTS. So if you’ve ever wondered if a fleet of Galaxy-class Federation starships could take down a Star Destroyer—and, honestly, who hasn’t—you can play that scenario out in the game’s fast-paced skirmish mode. The perfect opportunity, I thought, to pit a selection of iconic Star Wars and Star Trek factions against each other in a series of epic space battles.

Wednesday news, part two:
Belgium says loot boxes are gambling, wants them banned in Europe
http://www.pcgamer.com/belgium-says-loot-boxes-are-gambling-wants-them-banned-in-europe/
Last week, Belgium's Gaming Commission announced that it had launched an investigation into whether the loot boxes available for purchase in games like Overwatch and Star Wars Battlefront 2 constitute a form of gambling. Today, VTM News reported that the ruling is in, and the answer is yes.
Update: According to Belgian news site RTBF (Google translated), Belgium's Gaming Commission has not actually finalized its decision on whether loot boxes are gambling. The site says the statement that appeared in the original report, stating that the "mixture of money and addiction is a game of chance," is descriptive of the investigation's intent rather than its conclusion.

US legislator calls out EA's 'predatory practices' in Star Wars Battlefront 2

Belgium's Gaming Commission today declared that loot boxes in videogames are a form of gambling, and said that it would take the matter to Europe in pursuit of a ban against them. But interest in, and opposition to, the randomly filled digital boxes is gaining traction in the US, too. Rep. Chris Lee of Hawaii posted a video to YouTube in which he calls for "future protections for kids, youth, and everyone when it comes to the spread of predatory practices in online gaming."

It was supposed to be out today, but the studio announced yesterday (via Gematsu) that it's been delayed until just before Christmas. That's not good, but according to this Kotaku report, it gets a lot worse.

Along with new game modes and enemies, the Millennium Edition also introduced more secrets for players to hunt for—and according to Thom Glunt, co-founder of developer Pixel Titans, players recently found the biggest one, roughly a month after launch.

So, just for curiosity, but is anyone else having troubles to vote in the Steam Awards nominations? And I'm not talking about technical reasons, but because Valve tried to be "cool" and have instead made it more difficult to know what does each award mean?
And the worst of all is the third from the bottom: "The “Whoooaaaaaaa, Dude! 2.0” Award - The Academy wasn't clear enough in the awards description last year. Let's try this again. This award is for the “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” of video games." What the actual f*ck does that mean?!

I bought a Steam Link just a couple months ago, so it naturally makes sense that it would go on sale for a fraction of what I paid. And I do mean a fraction: the Steam Link is on sale at GameStop for a surprising 90% off, dropping the price from it's usual $49.99 down to a measly $5 (though you'll have to pay shipping and handling as well). If the GameStop link sells out, it's also available direct from Steam.
