We'll have to wait for official reviews to know how these new 1070Ti really perform.

Also, the comparison with the 970 is a bit off. I mean, I understand why they've done it, the 970 was a very popular card that sold a lot of units, but it was also a $329 product while the 1070Ti is a $449 one.

Please excuse my bad English.

Second hand has the exact same negative consequences for creators as piracy yet one of the two is supported and the other shunned. You just cannot completely condemn piracy for denying money to creators and then go on to laud second hand trade. It's backwards.

Well. No.
Second hand still entices people to buy DLC, Microtransactions, Expansion packs, Season passes and so on.

Pirated games usually include all the above or none at all and is often even locked out from having any of those things.

So what you're saying is Piracy not only entices people to buy DLC but also the game itself? Well, if that isn't more money for the creator. Unless of course the pirate is a scumbag and buys second hand.

At this point we can conclude that Nvidia is just bored by lack of competition. Whenever AMD does something they have the immediate answer or at least some new product o steal the buzz a bit. I'm sure the reason Nvidia hasn't released Volta yet is because AMD has done nothing to entice them to do so.

Scumbag AMD keeping Nvidia and Intel from giving me new hardware.

ACO is weird. It seems fine a s a PC port but I can't find a way to rebind keys. There is an alternate binding but that only applies to controllers.

I just want to switch alt with SPACE. I mean who the fuck jumps with alt?

I normally would play AC with controller but this time there is manual aiming and that is a no go for me.

And that's why we need AMD in the black, to be able to invest more money into R&D and give Intel and Nvidia proper competition.

As for Performance, with everything cranked up to max at 1440p it runs at around 60fps on my 1080. It varies a lot and in cities it often drops below 60 but never below 50. So far I tried to reduce the shadows but that doesn't seem to help at all. Maybe it's the CPU.

That said, the game is very very pretty. ELEX's average performance was about 10fps higher but it's not even close in graphics. And it's not just the graphics and details, it's also the design. The world map is the prettiest one I have ever seen in a game. Because it's actually 3D and the symbols move dynamically as such height aligned. The draw distance is also amazing. There is some LOD going on but it's not as annoying and I haven't seen major pop ins yet.

I know it's not fair to compare with ELEX but damn, even the bow mechanics are top notch^^

edit: it might be the CPU

And I don't even have streams running in the background yet.

The following are three articles/news stories worth knowing:

Microsoft’s security software causes some Windows PCs to no longer boot
http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/microsoft%E2%80%99s-security-software-causes-some-windows-pcs-to-no-longer-boot.html
And it's related to a false positive. Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials cause some Windows computers to produce a failed boot. The software falsely identifies the bootloader of open-source encryption software DiskCryptor as malware.

DiskCryptor is falsely detected as a positive, and is identified as BadRabbit ransomware reports myce. BadRabbit currently makes the rounds, mainly in Russia, Ukraine but it has also been detected in Turkey and Germany.

To encrypt data, BadRabbit uses DiskCryptor, which is likely why Microsoft’s security applications mistakenly deleted legitimate installations of DiskCryptor.

Even worse, both applications deleted the legitimate DiskCryptor bootloader making it impossible to boot to Windows.

>>And stupid mistakes like these are the reason Windows 10 forcing updates is a very bad idea. I mean, it would be bad if it were in hands of a reliable company, but in hands of MSoft it becomes such a terrible thing... Anyway, to know more about BadRabbit and a way to prevent it, check this Wccftech article.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti: Custom Models and Overclocking
https://videocardz.com/73742/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1070-ti-custom-models-and-overclocking
A rumor about locked frequency was slightly inaccurate. As it turns out frequency is indeed locked, but only for board partners. They simply cannot modify BIOSes to ship with higher clock speeds, something that was a normal thing for every GeForce launch so far.

NVIDIA officially claims GTX 1070 Ti to be an overclocking monster:

We designed the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti to be an overclocking monster with plenty of headroom for gamers to crank up the clock speeds. And our partners have built cards with thermals and power supplies that allow gamers to push performance way past stock specifications.

While it sounds great, nothing explains why ‘partners’ were not allowed to modify BIOSes the way they used to and force customers to do it manually. This is a step backward, putting many board partners in a tough spot.

>>WTF?!

PCI-SIG Finalizes and Releases PCIe 4.0, Version 1 Specification: 2x PCIe Bandwidth and More
https://www.anandtech.com/show/11967/pcisig-finalizes-and-releasees-pcie-40-spec
This week, PCI-standards consortium PCI-SIG (Special Interest Group) has ratified and released specifications for PCIe 4.0 Specification Version 1, uploading the documents to their PCI-SIG Specification Library. This marks the full release of PCIe 4.0, following up on June’s revision 0.9 specification publication. Doubling PCIe 3.0’s 8 GT/s (~1 GB/s) of bandwidth per lane, PCIe 4.0 offers a transfer rate of 16 GT/s with flexible lane width configurations, providing significant I/O performance benefits useful for storage, networking, and AI applications. At the same time, PCI-SIG has targeted Q2 2019 for releasing the finalized PCIe 5.0 specification, so PCIe 4.0 won't be quite as long-lived as PCIe 3.0 has been.

>>We'll see if Intel or AMD launch any PCIe 4.0 product, or they go straight to 5.0

Only twice the bandwidth doesn't seem a lot after that many years.

Better wait for 5.0 with a cumulative 4x increase?

Probably not useful to wait. Ratifying the standard does not correlate with first commercial use. It might still be years after the first commercial use of PCIE4 before we see PCIE5.
