Following last year's System Rift—which Andy described as "a decent, but not essential, two-hour expansion that’s ultimately more of the same"—Deus Ex: Mankind Divided now has its second slice of story DLC, named A Criminal Past. As you might expect, it's got a launch trailer.

Creative Assembly rolled out an "in-game cinematic trailer" for the upcoming Total War: Warhammer faction DLC Bretonnia earlier this week, showcasing its very Arthurian roots and the importance of chivalry above all. Today's 12-minute gameplay trailer digs deeper into its unique features, including the way that the Legendary Lords' personality traits will reflect their actions in the game.

Valve released a free software development kit today which aims to better simulate how sound bounces around environments. It came to light earlier this week that Australians will soon have to pay ten percent GST—Goods and Services Tax—on their Steam purchases. We noted at the time that a handful of other nations will also be affected by similar taxes, including New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, Iceland, South Africa and India. Now the full list of countries that will have to start paying taxes on Steam purchases, as well as how much and when, has been revealed in an email (via Gamespot) sent by Valve to Steam developers.

RESIDENT EVIL 7 NOT A HERO DLC WILL STAR CHRIS REDFIELD THIS SPRING
http://www.pcgamer.com/resident-evil-7-not-a-hero-dlc-will-star-chris-redfield-this-spring/
Between Tim's thoughts on Resident Evil 7's first portion of paid DLC, and James' impressions of its second—Banned Footage Vol.1 and Vol. 2—it seems the survival horror venture's extra curricular material has been pretty superficial thus far. Not A Hero is due this spring free-of-charge and, if you hung around after the credits upon completing the base game, you'll know features someone called 'Redfield'.

TOKYO 42 TRAILER SHOWCASES FAST AND FRANTIC COP DROP MINIGAME

Since first teasing its gorgeously minimalistic crimeworld in March last year, I've had my eye on Mode 7 and SMAC Games' Syndicate-meet-Grand Theft Auto Tokyo 42. I was particularly impressed by last month's Combat Styles trailer which demoed various stealth, chaos and hybrid approaches to a specific mission—and the latest video showcases how you'll deal with cops. Hint: it gets messy quickly.

CALL OF DUTY: INFINITE WARFARE IS FREE TO TRY THIS WEEKEND
http://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-infinite-warfare-is-free-to-try-this-weekend/
You may have held off from picking up Call of Duty's latest annual instalment following Tyler's lukewarm review last year. After awarding Infinite Warfare a paltry score of 48, he labelled it "a beautiful action movie that punishes improvisation, with under-populated multiplayer that can’t compete with a nine-year-old game." But if you fancy giving it a go and arriving at your own conclusions, know that it's free to try this weekend.

And finally, let's go with this weekend's deals:

I got that table from this Guru3D article: http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/amd-ryzen-launches-march-2nd.html

The problem here is, I think, that AMD still hasn't confirmed the specs of the 5 & 3 series, so it's still a bit up to speculation.

By the way, with all the hope and also hype behind Ryzen thanks to its comparisons to Intel's 8-core behemoths, here's a new leak that shakes all the positiveness a little bit and puts, in my opinion, things in their due place:

First AMD Ryzen 7 1700 vs Core i7 7700K Stock Gaming Performance Benchmarks in GTA V and Cinebench
http://wccftech.com/amd-ryzen-7-1700-gaming-performance-benchmarks-leak/

Ryzen is faster in Cinebench (obviosuly, it has twice the cores and threads), but loses in GTA V

Testing setup:

  • Intel i7 7700K / AMD RYZEN 7 1700
  • Gigabyte Z270 Ultra Gaming X / ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero
  • NVIDIA GTX 1080
  • Corsair Vengeance 3000MHz DDR4
  • Corsair 1000W RMX PSU
  • Corsair H115i AIO Cooler
  • Samsung 250GB 850 EVO

Ryzen is 5% slower on average.

Well to be fair, the i7 is at 4ghz+ at stock where as Ryzen is at 3.0-3.4Ghz so I can see why the i7 would win. What these testers really need to do is start comparing clock speeds cause I want to see how these cpus do clock per clock.

Its a shame we don't have any quad cores or 6 cores from AMD right now cause I would like to see how well they OC.

Well, the clock per clock comparisons are already done... but against Intel's Broadwell CPUs. But I have no doubt that someone will underclock a 7700K to Ryzen levels to see how they compare.

And I hope the 6 and 4 cores overclock well. I mean, with the 6-core/12-threads 1600-/X having the same TDP of the 1800X/1700X, I'd hope that they have more heatroom to overclock them higher. And the same goes for the 4-core chips.

Ok, the following is a rumor coming from SemiAccurate, so before reading it take all the salt you can get and then some more:

http://semiaccurate.com/2017/02/22/amds-ryzen-7-1800x-beats-intels-i7-6900k-half-price/

"Cinebench may be seen as a non-representative benchmark for some but SemiAccurate is confident that Ryzen’s performance will hold up across a wide range of benchmarks. This last bit may explain why Intel PR sent out a last-minute “call us before you write” email to most of the press, but not SemiAccurate, after hours last night. You could infer that they are suddenly really worried about something. In case we read that wrong, they should be."

WCCFTech made an article about this, which later updated with new info:

Intel Allegedly Playing Dirty To Undercut AMD’s Ryzen
http://wccftech.com/intel-playing-dirty-undercut-amd-ryzen/
It’s not uncustomary for companies to reach out to the press when they’re in the process of reviewing a competing product. Usually to lay out their response, tell their side of the story or to announce price cuts. We have contacted a few members of the press and asked if they received an email from Intel that falls out side of the above context and they’ve all so far denied receiving such an email.

UPDATED The editors-in-chief of two of America’s top PC hardware and technology publications have confirmed to Wccftech that they have indeed been approached by Intel regarding upcoming Ryzen reviews. Although both said that it was business as usual. Affirming that Intel’s response following AMD’s Ryzen announcement was what they had expected it to be. Adding that nothing was particularly unusual about the emails they received from Intel.

Remember to take this with caution, tho it wouldn't be the first time Intel does something shady.

It's monday already, time to make the news again. And like last week, there's a Mass Effect Special.

*Special*: Mass Effect Andromeda

MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA – OFFICIAL PC REQUIREMENTS
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/mass-effect-andromeda-official-pc-requirements/
Electronic Arts and BioWare have just revealed the official PC requirements for Mass Effect: Andromeda. PC gamers will need at least a 64-bit operating system, an Intel Core i5 3570 or AMD FX-6350 CPU, 8GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB or an AMD Radeon 7850 2GB.

MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA IS 'TOTALLY SOFTCORE SPACE PORN' FOLLOWING FULL NUDITY ESRB SHIFT
http://www.pcgamer.com/mass-effect-andromeda-is-totally-softcore-space-porn-following-full-nudity-esrb-shift/
We already know the 'banging' in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be plentiful and good, however BioWare's Aaryn Flynn has now dubbed it "totally softcore space porn."
That's following the game's retail listing which, although as yet unconfirmed by the ESRB, has been bumped from containing 'partial nudity' to 'full nudity' as part of its provisional M rating (for blood, strong language, strong sexual content and violence). Flynn, the developer's general manager, celebrated the news on Twitter.

'VAST MAJORITY' OF MASS EFFECT: ANDROMEDA IS STILL ACCESSIBLE AFTER FINISHING THE STORY
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-vast-majority-of-mass-effect-andromeda-is-still-accessible-after-finishing-the-main-story/
The stars in Mass Effect: Andromeda are stacked with story missions, sidequests, loyalty missions and open world exploration, meaning it should easily be the most expansive game in the series. That freedom will also carry over to how you complete the game. When I interviewed lead designer Ian Frazier last week, after playing a few hours of Andromeda, he mentioned that completing the main story doesn't mean it's all over this time around. In fact, almost the entire game will remain open and playable.

IRRATIONAL GAMES IS GONE—SAY HELLO TO GHOST STORY
http://www.pcgamer.com/irrational-games-is-gonesay-hello-to-ghost-story/
It was a big deal when Ken Levine announced in 2014 that the storied Irrational Games studio was "winding down." Its impact and influence over the years was so great that we actually wrote it a "fond farewell," recalling our time with brilliant experiences like System Shock 2, SWAT 4, and of course the BioShock games. It didn't go away completely—15 employees remained in what Levine described at the time as a "more entrepreneurial" outfit—but it obviously wasn't going to be making the big-budget blockbusters we'd grown used to.
Perhaps to reflect that fact, the studio made a pretty big announcement on Twitter today: Irrational is gone, and in its place stands Ghost Story Games.

PALADINS PLAYERS ERUPT IN ANGER OVER 'PAY-TO-WIN' CHANGES IN LATEST PATCH
http://www.pcgamer.com/paladins-players-erupt-in-anger-over-pay-to-win-changes-in-latest-beta/
Players of Hi-Rez Studios' free-to-play hero shooter Paladins are venting their anger on Reddit and elsewhere over a recent change to the game that's widely seen as a blatant change to a "pay-to-win" system. The complaints are rooted in a new in-game currency called Essence, introduced in the open beta patch 44 that was rolled out last week.

>>The studio has already send a response to those complains, stating the changes it will make to the game to please them.

THE LAST NIGHT TEASER SHOWCASES A 'CINEMATIC PLATFORMER' IN THE STYLE OF FLASHBACK
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-last-night-teaser-showcases-a-cinematic-platformer-in-the-style-of-flashback/
In 2014, brothers Tim and Adrien Soret founded an indie game studio named Odd Tales and announced their first project, a cinematic platformer called The Last Night. More recently—as in, yesterday—the team announced a partnership with publisher Raw Fury and released a very brief, and very promising, trailer teasing a stylish journey through rainy, neon nights of a Blade Runner-flavored cyberpunk future.

We're one step closer to learning more about the upcoming 24th Overwatch hero, as Blizzard today released a new character teaser. This follows the first tease, an in-universe interview with 11-year-old robotics prodigy Efi Oladele, which was posted earlier this week.
Update: The Overwatch PTR has been updated, and there's something different about the Numbani map. Something... missing. That's right, the Doomfist gauntlet has mysteriously vanished from the Numbani payload. The attacking team's spawn point—the airport terminal—also has been completely destroyed.

GRAVEYARD KEEPER IS A BLEND OF FANTASY AND CAPITALISM THAT LOOKS LIKE STARDEW CEMETERY
http://www.pcgamer.com/graveyard-keeper-is-a-blend-of-fantasy-and-capitalism-that-looks-like-stardew-cemetery/
Joining the small trend of 'roleplaying game NPCs made into full games' we've seen in games like Tavern Tycoon, Punch Club studio Lazy Bear Games has announced its next project, Graveyard Keeper, which it proudly proclaims as "the most inaccurate medieval cemetery management sim of the year." As the head of a fledgling fantasy burial ground, you'll have to find ways to cut costs, keep the customers coming, do "whatever it takes to build a thriving business."

RENAISSANCE ADVENTURE FOUR LAST THINGS IS OUT NOW
http://www.pcgamer.com/renaissance-adventure-four-last-things-is-out-now/
Four Last Things—an old-fashioned adventure game made out of stitched-together Renaissance art—is out now on Steam, which shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, seeing as I told you it was happening earlier this month. Following a successful Kickstarter, developer Joe Richardson has expanded his funny and rather beautiful point and click, buffing up the art and tweaking the writing—and, after playing it for a bit, I think it's definitely worth checking out.

YOU CAN PLAY AN EARLY DEMO OF XENONAUTS 2 NOW
http://www.pcgamer.com/you-can-play-an-early-demo-of-xenonauts-2-now/
Xenonauts creator Goldhawk Interactive loves that hyphen in the original X-COM so much that it's shoved one into the title of Xenonauts-2, the studio's in-development follow-up to its 2D take on the X-COM formula, which Ian Birnbaum enjoyed back in 2014. We've not heard much about Xenonauts-2 since its official announcement at around this time last year, but we do know that a) it'll be in 3D, and b) it'll be coming to Steam Early Access further down the line.
What if I told you that you could play it right now though? And without having to sneak into Goldhawk HQ and nick one of its computers? Well you can, because the developer has released an early demo over on GOG.

ELITE: DANGEROUS UPDATE TO ADD FRESHLY DISCOVERED TRAPPIST-1 SYSTEM
http://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-update-to-add-freshly-discovered-trappist-1-system/
In case you missed it—maybe because you were staring directly at the Trump, and not at fiery gas giants located in outer space—NASA has discovered seven new planets we humans could potentially live on, just as soon as we figure out how to travel 40 light years to another solar system. Upon its discovery, that solar system was named TRAPPIST-1 (presumably, TRAPPIST and TRAPPIST_Official were already taken), and I'm talking about it now because Elite: Dangerous is set to add it in an upcoming patch.

forma.8 LOOKS LIKE A BEAUTIFUL, ELEGANT METROIDVANIA
http://www.pcgamer.com/forma8-looks-like-a-beautiful-elegant-metroidvania/
Remember when every trailer tried to invoke excitement through the use of dubstep? It was a dark period for promotional videos, and one that (otherwise gorgeous) Metroidvania forma.8 channels with its noisy launch trailer. Despite that, this lovely-lookin' sidescrolling exploration game looks like something you might enjoy, providing you're a fan of Nifflas-style platformers, and other minimalist games that create a peaceful atmosphere through their use of colour, animation and sound design.

SHADOW OF MORDOR SEQUEL SHADOW OF WAR LEAKED
http://www.pcgamer.com/shadow-of-mordor-sequel-shadow-of-war-leaked/
A sequel to Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor has been leaked by US retail chain Target, via an online booboo that, at the time of writing, hasn't yet been fixed. Titled Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, the sequel will see Talion and his ghost buddy Celebrimbor teaming up once again to have another crack at Mordor. According to the Target description, you'll "go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within". And in case there was any doubt, the Nemesis system will return, creating "unique personal stories with every enemy and follower".

>>This leak was later confirmed. There's already a thread in VGC, made by Shikamo.

DARK SOULS 2 LAUNCHES RETURN TO DRANGLEIC COMMUNITY EVENT
http://www.pcgamer.com/dark-souls-2-launches-return-to-drangleic-community-event/
As you might've spied James speaking about a few weeks back, Dark Souls 2's Return to Drangleic event kicked off over the weekend—a community-run affair that asks Souls players to return to the series' second entry to "engage in co-op and PvP along the way as much as possible."

http://www.pcgamer.com/ashes-of-creations-first-pre-alpha-footage-shows-mmo-wizardry-and-pretty-autumn-leaves/
Intrepid Studios has sent over the first pre-alpha gameplay footage of their upcoming MMO, Ashes of Creation.
It's a classic, though slick, look for an MMO—a mage dealing with a hotbar and damage numbers and a horrible spider-man—though it should be noted that the UI is currently a placeholder. Like a few MMOs I've seen recently, one of Ashes of Creation's aspirations is permanent change.

TWITCH TO SELL GAMES IN STREAMER-SUPPORTING INITIATIVE THIS SPRING
http://www.pcgamer.com/twitch-to-sell-games-in-streamer-supported-initiative-this-spring/
Streaming service Twitch will allow users to purchase games in a new streamer-supporting initiative set to launch later this year.
