DOUBLE FINE'S SCI-FI SIDE-SCROLLER HEADLANDER GETS A RELEASE DATE AND A TRAILER

http://www.pcgamer.com/double-fines-sci-fi-side-scroller-headlander-gets-a-release-date-and-a-trailer/

Headlander was announced last summer as a “retro-futuristic, side scrolling, action-adventure” in which you play a disembodied head encased in a flying helmet, trapped in a 70s-style sci-fi dystopia ruled by an insane AI. Developer Double Fine Productions announced a release date today—July 26, just a couple of weeks away—and also a new story trailer that may be one of the finest bits of videogame promotional material I've ever seen.

VALVE SAYS IT WILL SOON START TAKING ACTION AGAINST CS:GO SKIN GAMBLING SITES

http://www.pcgamer.com/valve-says-it-will-soon-start-taking-action-against-csgo-skin-gambling-sites/

Valve has issued a statement on in-game trading in which it denies any connection to or relationship with CS:GO skin gambling sites. Furthermore, it warns that it will soon begin taking action against them, and hinted at possible negative consequences for players who use gambling sites as well.

WORLD OF WARCRAFT'S UPCOMING "SILENCE PENALTY" AIMS TO CURB ABUSIVE CHAT

http://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warcrafts-upcoming-silence-penalty-aims-to-curb-abusive-chat/

The great strength of MMOs—that they are massive—is also one of their greatest weaknesses: It only takes one loud jerk to ruin an enjoyable experience. To help crack down on the problem, Blizzard is implementing a new “silence penalty” in World of Warcraft that will put the hush on players who engage in abusive or inappropriate “chat behaviors.”

TWITCH RESEARCHER CONFIRMS THAT LIVESTREAMS HELP BOOST GAME SALES

http://www.pcgamer.com/twitch-researcher-confirms-that-livestreams-help-boost-game-sales/

Back near the beginning of the year, Punch Club publisher tinyBuild made an interesting proposition: It would release the game early if the audience of Twitch viewers could come together to beat it. It happened—much more quickly than anyone expected—and it also turned a very bright spotlight on the game, helping it to significant levels of success. In fact, Twitch Data Scientist Danny Hernandez said in a recent blog post that based on his calculations, 25 percent of Punch Club's sales are directly attributable to its presence on Twitch.

DOOM MOD CHEX QUEST IS GETTING A HD REMAKE

http://www.pcgamer.com/doom-mod-chex-quest-is-getting-a-hd-remake/

Chex Quest, the total conversion Doom mod designed to sell Chex cereal back in the mid-90s, is a surprisingly enduring curio among Doom fans. Not only did it spawn a sequel, but a third instalment was created in ZDoom in 2008 to sate the series' still-existent fanbase. Evan wrote about Chex Quest a while back, claiming it to be "the most successful advergame ever". Given that it still has an active fan community, he's probably right.

ROCKET LEAGUE, NIDHOGG, SPELUNKY FEATURE IN LATEST HUMBLE BUNDLE

http://www.pcgamer.com/rocket-league-nidhogg-spelunky-feature-in-latest-humble-bundle/

The latest Humble Bundle is pretty darn awesome. Named the Humble Revelmode Bundle (because it’s organised by YouTube chap PewDiePie’s “creator network” Revelmode), this collection gathers the likes of Nidhogg, Spelunky, Golf With Your Friends, Roguelands and Rocket League all in the one place via the familiar tiered payment format.

KOJIMA CONFIDENT DEATH STRANDING WILL BE HIS “BEST WORK SO FAR”

http://www.pcgamer.com/kojima-confident-death-stranding-will-be-his-best-work-so-far/

Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding came as a bit of a surprise when it was revealed at this year’s E3. I mean, it was almost certain the Metal Gear mastermind would be working on something following the collapse of he and Guillermo Del Toro’s proposed Silent Hills, but a naked Norman Reedus, clutching a newborn child on an abandoned beach (which apparently somehow equates to an action game) was a bit on the weird side.

FALLOUT SHELTER SETS UP CAMP ON PC

http://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-shelter-sets-up-camp-on-pc/

Earlier this week, the official Fallout Twitter feed began counting down Fallout Shelter’s PC debut—seemingly touting July 14 as its launch date, alongside the game's 1.6 update. That’s today, I’m sure you’re aware, however it appears Bethesda snuck out the free-to-play mobile vault simulator a day early, with it premiering on PCs late last night.

Oh, there's a new rumor about AMD's Vega GPUs.

AMD VEGA10 and VEGA11 GPUs spotted in OpenCL driver

http://videocardz.com/62250/amd-vega10-and-vega11-gpus-spotted-in-opencl-driver

AMD drivers already mention VEGA 10 and VEGA 11

The following list can be found in OpenCL driver, that is present in the latest Crimson software.

SI: TAHITI
CI / GFX7: MILOS, KRYPTOS, HAWAII, NEVIS, PENNAR, BONAIRE, Kabini
VI / GFX8: ICELAND, TONGA, CARRIZO, BERMUDA, racerx, FIJI
GFX81: AMUR, STONEY, ELLESMERE, DERECHO
GFX9: GREENLAND, RAVEN1X, VEGA10, VEGA11

The SI, CI, VI and GFX stand for GPU generations. The latest, yet unreleased architecture is GFX9, which includes Greenland, Raven1X, Vega10 and Vega 11. For quite some time Greenland was rumored to be just another codename for Vega10, but since it’s listed separately, we should assume that Greenland is something else, probably an integrated graphics chip.

Well, it turns out that Greenland isn't the old name of Vega but something else, and that AMD is also working on something called Raven. But Greenland being an integrated GPU? That's something new.

^The more awareness that PC gaming isn't exclusive to nerds or misfits, the better.

It's a solid build. I'd say that the PSU is an overkill, but it has a semi-passive mode that, with good ambient temps, can stay fanless with loads up to 600W, more than enough to power the whole PC while gaming.

Origin Access free 7-days-trial (just cancel the subscription instantly): https://www.origin.com/de-de/store/origin-access/home

Some of my Origin games (Mass Effect 2 + 3, Dragon Age: Inquisition) offer free upgrades to additional content. I wonder what happens to these games after Origin Access runs out. Will I keep these contents, will the save files be fucked (I backuped the old ones), will the main game only start with Origin Access or can I downgrade/reinstall the bought version?

^I'll try that, I can always uninstall and then reinstall my games.

The second, and last for this week, part of the news:

KINGDOM COME: DELIVERANCE TRAILER TALKS RPG SYSTEMS, ARMOUR, HANGOVERS

http://www.pcgamer.com/kingdom-come-deliverance-trailer-talks-rpg-systems-armour-hangovers/

Like Chris, I long for an RPG that drops fantasy in favour of realism, that portrays astute sword fighting with weight, labour, and context—as an act that has meaning and not simply a set-piece determined by who can wind up with the most remaining hit points—and Kingdom Come: Deliverance looks like it could be just that.

THE NEXT TOTAL WAR: WARHAMMER EXPANSION CALLS UP THE BEASTMEN

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-next-total-war-warhammer-expansion-calls-up-the-beastmen/

They're beasts! They're men! They're Beastmen! And they're coming to Total War: Warhammer in the Call of the Beastman DLC that's set for release later this month.

http://www.pcgamer.com/lovely-planet-arcade-the-old-school-sequel-to-lovely-planet-will-be-out-next-week/

Lovely Planet Arcade, the sequel to one of Tyler's favorite games of 2014, will be out on July 22. But in spite of the direct lineage (and the confusingly similar name), it promises a rather different sort of FPS experience: The Y-axis is gone this time around, meaning it will play more like Doom '93 than Doom '16.

SEXY FARMING GAME BREEDING SEASON, ONCE A MASSIVE PATREON SUCCESS, IS CANCELLED

http://www.pcgamer.com/breeding-season-game-cancelled/

Kotaku has an unhappy report on the state of Breeding Season, a “Harvest Moon meets Hentai” sex game that, according to PledgeSociety, was pulling in more than $42,000 per month on Patreon. OVERCOOKED TO SERVE CULINARY CHAOS COME AUGUST 3

http://www.pcgamer.com/overcooked-to-serve-culinary-chaos-come-august-3/

Overcooked is a frantic single-player or co-op cooking game where you’re tasked with zipping around kitchens, cooking and serving food, and ultimately trying your damnedest not to set things on fire. In my experience, preventing the latter is easier said than done.

GET BASTION AND TRANSISTOR WITH 80 PERCENT DISCOUNT THIS WEEKEND

http://www.pcgamer.com/get-bastion-and-transistor-with-80-percent-discount-this-weekend/

“Bastion grabbed my heart exactly one minute and 30 seconds after it started,” reads the first line of PC Gamer’s 2011 Bastion review, which is a feeling that never left me until the game’s end. The action-RPG is now (somehow) five years old but still stands as one of my all time favourites—which is why I think you should check it out this weekend via Steam’s Supergiant Games Anniversary Sale.

HITMAN’S SIXTH ELUSIVE TARGET WILL HAVE YOU SEEING DOUBLE

http://www.pcgamer.com/hitmans-sixth-elusive-target-will-have-you-seeing-double/

Hitman’s latest Elusive Target befalls sunny Sapienza and, as always, you’ve got 72 hours to get the job done. As you’ve no doubt come to expect by now, you’ve got just one shot to hit the mark or it’s game over (well, contract over), however there’s a twist in the tale this time round: the target has an identical twin and under no circumstances are you to take out the wrong one.

And that's it. Have a gaming weekend.

And if Civ 6 is like Civ V, it will have loads of DLCs. Maybe it will be better to wait until a complete edition.
