Elite: Dangerous developer video disects battle shown in latest trailer

Elite: Dangerous has a new developer video available in which David Braben goes over the battle between two spaceships that was shown in the last video. Braben said the video was not “pre-rendered” and was created via the game’s engine. He said the ships flew on pre-set paths in order to allow the art team to make sure everything looked right through various paths. This also kept the artists from having to manually test each element. Have a look below. Elite: Dangerous launched sometime in 2014. Thanks, Massively.

Polygons Begone: Spy Party’s New Art Looks Lovely

By Craig Pearson on October 7th, 2013 at 6:00 pm.

I think part of the fear I had over playing Spy Party rested on the graphics. I might have overcome the horror of attempting the delicately balanced multiplayer if the characters were welcoming and not blank-faced Doctor Who monsters from the planet Do Not Want. That is a problem that Chris Hecker has been working on for some time, and now we can finally see how the new art looks and plays. The beta just updated with a test level, showing off the new room and a few of the new character models. A video is below.

A Second Look At SOMA

By Craig Pearson on October 7th, 2013 at 4:00 pm.

We still don’t know much about SOMA, Amnesia developers Frictional’s next game. But there is a general theme emerging from the teaser videos: the first video showed an engineer attempting to communicate with what appeared to be a H.R. Giger’s CRT monitor. This new video shows the same engineer talking to a disassembled robot. In the game’s fiction, it’s a “standard UH3 articulated robot,” and it “spontaneously developed a desire to socialize from observing human interaction.” It gets creepier. Way creepier.

In Theory… New screens and Steam Greenlight (sort of)

Posted by
a_Oksaharju

Hello peeps!

Things are progressing nicely and we’ve submitted Reset to Steam Greenlight. It is in the concept category, since the game is not ready enough to be submitted to the actual game category. So voting for the game doesn’t count towards getting Reset Greenlit yet.

As stated before, the gameplay premiere teaser is scheduled to be released October 28th and we’ll be starting the crowd funding campaign at the same time.

Oh almost forgot. Here are four new screenshots.

Oh I don't mind lol, you can post whatever you like. Honestly it would be nice if people posted more of anything, so I didn't make so many multiposts etc lolz. Tho technically I did post a link to that story earlier...

Maybe I should change how I present stuff... IDK breaking all the news into seperate posts might just make it worse and would be even more multiposting. I could go back to posting full articles but then the posts would be way too long. I could be more selective about what I post I guess but what is the fun in that, posting the smaller stories that wouldn't be posted as seperate threads was kinda the point of having a megathread. Eh I guess I shouldn't worry about it.It would be nice if the formating would stick then I could have proper headings and things to make posts more readable. I guess I could do it in HTML but that is too much of a hassle.

I guess I am overthinking things again

And don't worry too much, you are doing a fine job. (If you are serious about being worried about format and such on this thread, you should visit ryan's Nintendo News thread. You'd cry)

yea 50GB was a bit of a surprise lol.

I don't know if worried is the right term lol. I just tend to overthing stuff like that, and I do think there is room for improvement. Just one of may many character flaws I guess, along with my tendency for self deprecation...

Here are three static images of Wargame: Red Dragon's hypothetical '80s Korean conflict

Comment

Vietnam was the first and last war in which the American military granted full freedom of coverage to the press, allowing nuts new journalists to ride along in choppers and wage their own war back home with the images they captured.

For Wargame: Red Dragon’s sake, I’ll need you to imagine the polar opposite: a late 20th century war not captured on film, removed from the popular imagination. Unrecorded, in fact, but for three pictures just now uncovered by Parian videogame developers Eugen Systems.

Shovel Knight trailer breaks new ground for 8-bit platforming

Comment

If you like your platforming to have just 8 bits and full of silliness then it looks like Shovel Knight is for you. It apes the style of the old NES era platformers but equips your knight with a shovel, a piece of kit I’d foolishly never considered to be multi-purpose.

See it at work in the new trailer.

Beyond Eyes Is Emotional Watercolour Exploration

By Jim Rossignol on October 8th, 2013 at 2:00 pm.

How’s this for a game pitch: Beyond Eyes – which is currently on Greenlight and in a fund-raising drive – is game about a blind girl who must leave the familiar environment of her house to rescue a lost cat, and does so guided by the player. Developer Sherida Halatoe explains: “As you guide Rae through this unfamiliar world your behavior as player influences the way she feels and behaves. A player who forces her into dangerous situations finds himself with a scared, distrustful girl who will refuse to do his bidding until he regains her trust. Of course if a player respects Rae’s wishes and is careful to keep her from harm, she will open up to him and will trust him in difficult situations.”

As you can see in the video below, the world reveals itself slowly as you guide Rae through it, painting itself in delicate watercolours. The video is worth watching for a strong impression of how it will work.
