The Long Dark Kickstarter update contains first screenshots of first-person sandbox survival game
The Long Dark Kickstarter page has been updated with the first screenshots of the title from Hinterland, a studio comprised of ex-Relic, Bioware, Riot and Volition developers. We’ve posted them for you below. The episodic first-person sandbox survival experience set in a North America after a disaster has 10 days left to reach its $200,000 goal, and as of post time, 3,249 backers have pledged $106,376. WB Games to expand Montreal studio by 100 devs within five years
WB Games will expand its Montreal studio, adding 100 positions over the next five years. The expansion is part of a deal with the Quebec government which invested $63 million in grant money and incentives into the Batman: Arkham Origins studio. This is to help support the local development scene, and the new positions are expected to pay approximately $70,000 annually to employees. At present, the studio has around 325 permanent employees. Earlier this week, Ubisoft was a recipient of a $9.9 million grant by the government which it will use to expand it Montreal studio by 500 jobs. Thanks, GI International.
Pier Solar and the Great Architects HD debut trailer released
The first trailer for Pier Solar HD, WaterMelon’s successful Kickstarter remake, has been released. The game was shown during at Nintendo’s booth during IndieCade, which is going on this weekend in Los Angeles. Pier Solar and the Great Architects is slated for release on Android, Linux, Mac, Ouya, PC, Wii U eShop and Xbox Live during Q1 2014. It is also coming to Dreamcast via a Limited Edition.
Dragon’s Prophet double XP weekend is underway
Dragon’s Prophet is hosting a double XP weekend, so if you haven’t logged in for a while, now’s the time to do it. Along with the extra experience points through Sunday, SOE has word it will be holding a Frontier System press event on Monday, October 7 with the top three alliances on the scoreboard receiving Death Knell dragons. Rocksmith 2014 Edition will be colorblind friendly
Rocksmith 2014 contains a mode for those with colorblindness, Ubisoft has announced. According to producer Taylor Benson, who is also colorblind, adjusted hues will allow those with the malady to learn just as easily to strum the six-string as those who can see color. Elite: Dangerous developer video disects battle shown in latest trailer
Elite: Dangerous has a new developer video available in which David Braben goes over the battle between two spaceships that was shown in the last video. Braben said the video was not “pre-rendered” and was created via the game’s engine. He said the ships flew on pre-set paths in order to allow the art team to make sure everything looked right through various paths. Watch Dogs can be completed almost entirely using stealth instead of weapons, according to senior director Dominic Guay.
Shovel Knight scheduled for a winter release, watch the new trailer
Shovel Knight will be released sometime this winter, according to a tweet from developer Yacht Club. The game was originally slated for a release last month, and is available for pre-order on Steam for Linux, Mac, and PC. Upon release it will also be made available for 3DS and Wii U through the eShop. A new video is posted below. The game is also being shown at Nintendo’s booth during IndieCade this weekend.
