And just to be clear, you can't play the movies from the disk, but I think you can still rip the movie and play it in whatever format you want.

Either that, or they don't want people to keep their hardware for too long and thus cap overclocking. Unless that's their solution for the fan issue they had with the previous driver, simply reduce the power draw until the issue goes away...

It looks like yesterday/early today has been rather slow in terms of news at PCGamer (thankfully!). Therefore, here are the second and third part of the gaming news:

RedOctane's 'next evolution in rhythm gaming' sure looks a lot like 2007's Rock Band
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rhythm/redoctanes-next-evolution-in-rhythm-gaming-sure-looks-a-lot-like-2007s-rock-band/
For a brief period in the early 2000s, RedOctane was a big deal. It peaked in 2005 as the publisher of Guitar Hero, leading Activision to acquire it the following year, but just a few years after that the ride was over: Amidst massive market oversaturation and flagging interest among players, Activision shuttered the whole thing in 2010.
That was the end of the tale until 2025, when Embracer brought RedOctane back, with the slightly modified handle RedOctane Games, to deliver "the next evolution in rhythm gaming." Which as it turns out is not Guitar Hero but, man, it sure looks like Guitar Hero.

"Stage Tour is a rhythm-action game designed to blend familiar and accessible note-highway gameplay with new and exciting modern twists," the Stage Tour Steam page says, without delving into what those new and exciting modern twists might be.

https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/nacon-postpones-its-nacon-connect-showcase-so-it-can-concentrate-on-going-insolvent/
Just five days after filing for insolvency, publisher and peripheral maker Nacon has postponed its Nacon Connect showcase, which had been set to take place on March 4, because, well, it just filed for insolvency.

Bungie is considering a dedicated duos mode and time-to-kill changes after Marathon server slam feedback
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/bungie-is-considering-a-dedicated-duos-mode-and-time-to-kill-changes-after-marathon-sever-slam-feedback/
The Marathon server slam is over, and now begins the awkward gap between playtest shutdown and its full release on March 5. Throughout the weekend, Bungie published daily recaps of feedback it's considering and bugs addressed, culminating in a "Weekend Feedback Recap" article published on social channels today.

Fruit Ninja studio Halfbrick hit with layoffs: 'we are navigating a challenging period for the games industry'
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/fruit-ninja-studio-halfbrick-hit-with-layoffs-we-are-navigating-a-challenging-period-for-the-games-industry/
An Australian studio responsible for a raft of hugely successful games, including Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride, has announced layoffs. Brisbane-based Halfbrick Studios confirmed as much on LinkedIn last week, just months after the release of its most recent game Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen.

WoW's new allied race in Midnight, the Haranir, has a model clipping issue with dozens of gear items—a problem that's been on the PTR for months
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/world-of-warcraft/wows-new-allied-race-in-midnight-the-haranir-has-a-model-clipping-issue-with-dozens-of-gear-items-a-problem-thats-been-on-the-ptr-for-months/
World of Warcraft's latest allied race, the Haranir, have hit the live servers—arriving in the game with Midnight, you can grab them as long as you've finished the main questline for Harandar. They're essentially a blend between trolls and elves, and from a first glance, they look great—plenty of customisation options, lovely design, bang-up job from Blizzard.
That is, until you start equipping gear. Dozens of items in the game clip through the Haranir's slightly-thicker-than-normal physiology. I hopped in with a freshly-made Haranir and flicked through my warband collection, and it took me all of five minutes to find multiple instances of items clipping through their thighs and derrieres, although one or two pieces also clipped through their forehead.

Resident Evil Requiem's The Final Puzzle has finally been figured out, and it's just as complicated and long as you'd think: 'We don't get the doll if we don't AFK at the grinder'

When you hear the bluebird whistle five times after the clock strikes 15:41, walk three steps towards the Orion constellation and wait for 15 minutes. Ok, that's not the actual steps you need to take to complete The Final Puzzle in Resident Evil Requiem, but it's also not far off.

It seems I have the opposite reaction to potential walking back of Sony 1st party exclusive games on PC. If Sony continues their current philosophy, I'm not buying a PS6. My PS5 is basically a dust magnet bcause I can get the games on PC. Worse I sold my original PS5 and snagged a PRO. I think the last game I bought for PS5 was Stellar Blade. Which I ended up buying again on PC. That game had the best PSSR implementation that I've seen. Better than Rebirth's which wasn't bad but Stellar Blade's looked markedly better.

The games for Humble Choice March have been revealed.

  • Bread & Fred
  • Chants of Sennaar
  • Etrian Odyssey III HD
  • Hard West 2
  • Smalland: Survive the Wilds
  • SWORN
  • Tempest Rising
  • Zero Hour

The article about his move from Capcom at DSOG theorizes that they may have been "forced" to remove it because Enigma caused a much bigger performance hit than Denuvo did, and players were complaining about it.

I don't know if it's true, but it could be a temporary solution from Capcom until they figure out what's causing the problems and then bring it back.

One thing I thought since this rumor/leak launched is that, how many first party titles can Sony launch? And I'm talking real first party titles, not timed or console exclusives bought from third party publishers.

Because other than Insomniac, how many of their studios can actually launch more than one game per gen right now? Naughty Dog hasn't even launched one new game yet, and the PS5 has been in the market for 5 years.

The reason for the reduced output from their studios is the insanely stupid GaaS push from Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst. Without it, the output would have been significantly higher. The now shuttered Blue Point would have likely had release two games by now and be in the midst of a third. Naughty Dog wasted years on GaaS focued TLOU Factions title...and I'm off on a tangent that's topic related. Sorry about that.
