Arc Raiders dishes out a hotfix, 'squashing the item duplication bug', and warns that bans will be coming for guilty players

The devil works hard, but Embark's devs work harder. We've just got a hotfix for the Arc Raiders duplication bug that saw players covering maps with trigger 'nades and ziplines. Which means the next step is the ban wave.
"Heads up, raiders, an additional hotfix just dropped, squashing the item duplication bug," Embark says in an official social media post. "Thank you all for reporting the issue, and for being patient with us while we sorted it out."

Medieval physics romp Besiege has spent a decade letting us conquer the land and sea, so naturally its next expansion is heading to the final frontier

Besiege has been knocking around for a while. Hitting Steam early access only a couple of years after the programme started, it quickly became a fave, though it would linger there for five years, only hitting 1.0 in 2020.
Developer Spiderling Studios has continued to nurture its castle-demolishing puzzler since then, with plenty of updates and an ocean expansion in 2024. Now, though, it's pulling off something more audacious: Besiege is heading into space.
I was the Bernie Madoff of speculative baby trading until my prize infant gargled horse tranquiliser and died
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/i-was-the-bernie-madoff-of-speculative-baby-trading-until-my-prize-infant-gargled-horse-tranquiliser-and-died/
In days of old, before mankind had conquered—perhaps destroyed—the natural world, we would attribute the vicissitudes of fate to the will of the gods. If your village was swallowed by an earthquake, your child taken by ague, your crops struck by pestilence, it was because a higher power decided it. The alternative—that these tragedies just happened—was too maddening to accept.
We have no need for gods these days. Now we have Wall Street, whose distant and inscrutable machinations ravage towns, take children, and blight crops far more effectively than the gods of old. We no longer have need for Apollo and Dionysus. Now we have Brad and his MBA. Brad sucks.
Except not anymore. Now I am become Brad, and the universe has unfurled before me like delicious fruit leather. I am the master of Space Warlord Baby Trading Simulator (SWBTS), the new game from Strange Scaffold that invites you to pick a likely-looking baby fresh from the maternity ward and bet on the outcome of their life. Or you can short them, if they seem like the type to lose an arm in a wheat thresher or something like that.
Age of Wonders 4's next expansion introduces nomadic, post-apocalyptic bunnies
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/strategy/age-of-wonders-4s-next-expansion-introduces-nomadic-post-apocalyptic-bunnies/
I could never look at cute bunnies the same way after watching Watership Down, but I feel more prepared for Age of Wonders 4: Rise from Ruin. Now I know how hard these fluffy critters have it, and how hard they'll fight to survive. And that's very much what the new expansion is all about.
The expansion's new species is the harefolk—anthropomorphic hares who survived the apocalypse. They're all about speed and endurance, though like all the forms you pick for your empire's primary species, they can be customised with any traits that you've already unlocked.
Genshin Impact fan wiki operator may be having second thoughts about datamining after Cognosphere unleashes the lawyers, says it 'will only update live game data in the future'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/genshin-impact-fan-wiki-operator-may-be-having-second-thoughts-about-datamining-after-cognosphere-unleashes-the-lawyers-says-it-will-only-update-live-game-data-in-the-future/
Cognosphere, better known to most of us as HoYoVerse, has opened a new front in its long-running war against leakers by suing Jianuo "HomDGCat" Zhou, the operator of the HomDGCat wiki. The lawsuit, available via Aftermath, alleges that Zhou "has engaged in a sustained, coordinated campaign to steal and publicly disseminate Cognosphere's confidential, trade secret information and copyrighted materials" related to Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail.
Subnautica 2 devs show off multiplayer while constantly reassuring solo players it's totally optional
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/subnautica-2-devs-show-off-multiplayer-while-constantly-reassuring-solo-players-its-totally-optional/
There's been no shortage of drama surrounded Subnautica 2, from the leadership of Unknown Worlds being axed by publisher Krafton because they'd allegedly caused a delay, to those developers claiming it was Krafton who had caused that delay, actually, so it wouldn't have to pay those devs a contractual multi-million dollar earnout, to the big messy and downright perplexing lawsuit filed over those conflicting claims, which is still ongoing.
Mostly lost in these stormy seas has been talk about the game itself—but today, the development team behind Subnautica 2 took some time to show off the sequel's multiplayer features. And maybe in an effort to avoid any more drama, the team wants to be clear that if you're interested in playing the game alone, like the original, you totally, definitely can.
This Lost Ark skin turns your warrior into a stereotypical gamer, complete with Mountain Dew gut and a pair of slides
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/mmo/this-lost-ark-skin-turns-your-warrior-into-a-stereotypical-gamer-complete-with-mountain-dew-gut-and-a-pair-of-slides/
For the fourth anniversary of Lost Ark's release in the west, the MMO action-RPG added a bunch of skins that, in the original Korean version, were designed by and then voted for by players. The results are mostly in line with what you might expect from Lost Ark's skins—for a while I played a sorceress and every time I went up a tier her outfit got skimpier, so I'm unsurprised to see the skin here is literal lingerie—except for one.
The male warrior skin, which can be applied to all paladins, berserkers, gunlancers, and destroyers, is just a fat guy in a singlet that doesn't fit him. With his glasses and slides, and in the alternate version, a tracksuit and headphones with cat ears, he looks like a caricature of a Lost Ark player. He looks like he has 8,000 hours logged and left a negative review on Steam. For a fun bonus, his weapons are all food-based, so you can swing a giant fried squid instead of a boring old axe or whatever.
Microsoft has revoked the DMCA takedown that forced an indie Minecraft-like off Steam
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/i-genuinely-do-not-know-what-to-do-says-developer-of-minecraft-like-allumeria-after-microsoft-issues-a-dmca-takedown-forcing-it-off-steam/
In January, indie game developer Unomelon announced that their lo-fi voxel sandbox game Allumeria would be playable in Steam Next Fest, an exciting milestone after a year of development. Two weeks later, the game is no longer available on Steam as the result of a DMCA takedown from Microsoft, claiming that Allumeria infringes on Minecraft's copyright.
"I genuinely do not know what to do," Unomelon posted in the game's Discord.
Update: The DMCA launched against Allumeria has been withdrawn. As Unomelon wrote on the Allumeria Discord, "Microsoft has withdrawn the copyright claim with no action needed on my part. This is the best case scenario. I just woke up from a nap so I am still not sure about the details, but whatever happened, it worked. The steam page and game has been fully restored, and I did not need to file a counter claim, meaning there will be no chance of a lawsuit!"
After 21 years, Serious Sam 2 gets Steam achievements (and a new patch)
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/after-21-years-serious-sam-2-gets-steam-achievements-and-a-new-patch/
Few things thrill me like a very old game suddenly getting an update. Keep, quintuple-A publishers, your storied pomp. Give me your ancient, your forgotten, your games that run in Unreal Engine 1 and whose default controls make heavy use of the numpad. That's what gets me excited.
So the fact that Serious Sam 2, 21 years of age, has just got Steam achievements and a lil' patch? That's the good stuff, right there. Serious Sam 2 update 2.2 dropped yesterday, bringing with it 30 new cheevos for "your number 142451 no deaths, colt-only, left-handed, no damage, blindfolded Serious Sam 2 run!" (...)
Cult of the Lamb's devs reveal why they made the decision to not let Marchosias join your cult in Woolhaven: 'I'm really, really glad that we did that'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/roguelike/cult-of-the-lambs-devs-reveal-why-they-made-the-decision-to-not-let-marchosias-join-your-cult-in-woolhaven-im-really-really-glad-that-we-did-that/
I love the boss fights in Cult of the Lamb; they're a welcome change of pace to what is otherwise a relatively peaceful dungeon-crawling experience. But I'd be lying if I didn't admit that my absolute favourite part of fighting a boss is getting to indoctrinate them and welcome their cute follower form into my cult.
Once you defeat a boss, you have the option to take them into your cult, where you can look after them and assign them tasks to do around the place for as long as they live, which sadly is never long enough.
Spoilers ahead for Cult of the Lamb Woolhaven
>> And while Woolhaven makes the game harder, the devs weren't 'necessarily trying to stress players out' (link).
After 10 years No Man's Sky still hasn't run out of cool stuff to give you, so here's a freakin' gravity gun, too
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/after-10-years-no-mans-sky-still-hasnt-run-out-of-cool-stuff-to-give-you-so-heres-a-freakin-gravity-gun-too/
Hey, Traveler! You've been exploring No Man's Sky's quintillions of planets for a while now (almost 10 years, if you can believe it). You've dug holes in those planets, exploited their resources, built bases and settlements on them, and spent hours either killing their lifeforms or taming and riding them.
Did you ever think about, you know, cleaning some of those planets up? Hmm? Is that so much to ask?
No Man's Sky's new update, called Remnant, is all about cleaning up hazardous space debris. And don't worry, it's not a completely altruistic endeavor: it'll be well worth your while.
Yakuza Kiwami 3 is where 'The Kiwami line will come to an end,' which might be for the best given how badly it's been handled
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/yakuza-kiwami-3-is-where-the-kiwami-line-will-come-to-an-end-which-might-be-for-the-best-given-how-badly-its-been-handled/
Yakuza Kiwami 3 and its tie-in game, Dark Ties, release tomorrow, and that might be your lot, at least insofar as Kiwami games go. In a recent Japanese-language livestream spotted and translated by fans on Reddit (and verified by PCG's crack international cadre), RGG studio boss Masayoshi Yokoyama declared that "I think Yakuza Kiwami 3 will be the last one one, and the Kiwami line will come to an end."
