AMD launches Radeon RX 9070 GRE in China, officially 6% faster than RX 7900 GRE

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-launches-radeon-rx-9070-gre-in-china-officially-6-faster-than-rx-7900-gre

According to Techpowerup, the 5070 is 4% faster than the 7900GRE, so the 9070GRE would still be 2% faster than the 5070 - so pretty much on par.

It's priced higher than the 9070 is in the west, suggesting that it's replacing the 9070 entirely in China. No wonder that the RoW release would only be in Q4 then, China will get their market covered first by them before going worldwide. A$450 9070GRE would annihilate both the 5070 and the 5060Ti, but we'll have to wait and see the prices by then.

SALES/PLAYER COUNTS & DEALS

Steam’s Top 10

(Click here for the Top 100)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has sold 1 million copies in 3 days
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/clair-obscur-expedition-33-has-sold-1-million-copies-in-3-days/
Kepler Interactive has announced that in its first three days, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has managed to sell 1 million copies. This is a huge commercial success for Sandfall Interactive which is a small team.
As the devs claimed, this number does not encompass the GamePass players. In other words, that’s how many copies the game has sold right now. And, it deserves even more. This is one of the best games of 2025. Thus, I’m glad to see that it has been a commercial success.

'We are profoundly thankful for your lasting devotion': Elden Ring celebrates 30 million copies sold just a month before Elden Ring Nightreign
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/we-are-profoundly-thankful-for-your-lasting-devotion-elden-ring-celebrates-30-million-copies-sold-just-a-month-before-elden-ring-nightreign/
Elden Ring has reached yet another massively impressive milestone, with 30 million copies sold after just over three years. It's an impressive feat and one that FromSoftware is celebrating a month before its next game, Elden Ring Nightreign, releases.
"Dearest Tarnished, we are profoundly thankful for your lasting devotion," FromSoftware says in a social media post. "May your path be forever guided by the Grace of Gold." 30 million copies sold is certainly impressive, but we are talking about Elden Ring. It sold over 20 million copies in less than a year following its release, and its DLC Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree sold over five million copies in less than a week. So big numbers are kind of Elden Ring's thing.

Crusader Kings 3 rides into the Steam best sellers atop a 70% sale and new Mongol-centric DLC
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/crusader-kings-3-rides-into-the-steam-best-sellers-atop-a-70-percent-sale-and-new-mongol-centric-dlc/
I'm a firm believer that there are only ever good reasons to play more Crusader Kings, but today even I'll admit that it's a better time for CK3 than normal. Right now, to celebrate the release of the new Khans of the Steppe DLC, there's a 70% sale on the CK3 base game, and the combo's launched Crusader Kings back into the Steam top sellers.
At time of writing, Crusader Kings 3 is the seventh-best selling game on Steam in the US and worldwide. On both charts, it's ranking more than 70 slots higher today than it was last week. Clearly, people are excited to make a fresh mess of the medieval era.
>> It was the 6th best selling game when I prepared the news.

GOG has two sales:

Steam has a few new sales and the weeklong deals:

There are three new deals at Humble:

Fanatical’s Level Up Sale has entered its Encore mode, which means that it will end soon. Meanwhile, the Star Deal is DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO, 34% off. It started yesterday but it will last another 24 hours or until they run out of keys: https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/dragon-ball-sparking-zero.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

Driveclub can now run on PC via the PS4 emulator, shadPS4
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/driveclub-can-now-run-on-pc-via-the-ps4-emulator-shadps4/
In October 2024, we informed you about shadPS4 booting THE best-looking PS4 racing game, Driveclub. And today, we are happy to report that Driveclub can now run and can go in-game thanks to shadPS4Plus.
Now, as you will see, the game is nowhere close to being described as playable. There are major visual issues, so it will take a while until we are able to enjoy this racing game on PC. Still, the fact that it can go in-game is solid progress.
In this current stage, Driveclub runs with around 38FPS on an Intel Core i5 3600KF with an NVIDIA RTX 3080Ti. Yep, you read that right. shadPS4Plus is able to unlock the game, meaning that it runs above 30FPS. So, I can assume that the emulator will offer a 60FPS experience on a high-end PC once it can perfectly emulate it.
>> The article has a typo with the CPU, it’s a 13600KF, and you can check it out by yourselves as there’s a slightly over 4 minutes video.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 DLSS 4 Frame Gen Mod Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/clair-obscur-expedition-33-dlss-4-frame-gen-mod-released/
Kepler Interactive has released Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on PC and although it supports DLSS 4 Super Resolution, it does not support DLSS 4 Frame Gen. So, today we have both good and bad news for all RTX 40 and 50 series owners out there.
The good news is that a DLSS 4 Frame Gen Mod has just been released. That bad news is that it’s behind a Patreon wall.
Created by PureDark, this mod adds support for DLSS 4 Frame Gen. Moreover, the modder is looking into bringing support for Multi-Frame Gen.
Regarding DLSS 4 Super Resolution, NVIDIA has finally updated its app. As such, you can now use it to force the Transformer Model. So, make sure to use the NVIDIA App to enable DLSS 4.
Again, I don’t know why the devs have not implemented support for Frame Gen. Not only that, but the game does not support AMD FSR 3.0. Instead, it supports TSR and Intel XeSS. This means that AMD owners will have to rely on Intel XeSS. NVIDIA owners, on the other hand, can try both DLSS and XeSS (and use the one they like).

The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind Tamriel Rebuilt Mod – Grasping Fortune Update Comes Out on May 1st
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/the-elder-scrolls-iii-morrowind-tamriel-rebuilt-mod-grasping-fortune-update-comes-out-on-may-1st/
The team behind Tamriel Rebuilt, a DLC-sized mod for The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, announced that the Grasping Fortune Update will come out on May 1st. To celebrate this announcement, the team has also shared a new teaser trailer that you can find below.
For those who don’t know, Tamriel Rebuilt is a mod for TES III: Morrowind that adds the mainland of the province to the game. To date, over half of the mainland has been created.
Grasping Fortune will add a massive new landmass in the south. It will also bring over 140 handcrafted dungeons to explore, as well as more than 270 new quests.
Do note that Tamriel Rebuilt is not part of Project Tamriel. Tamriel Rebuilt is a province mod that focuses on bringing the Morrowind mainland to TES III. It also houses the small province mod Eye of Argonia. On the other hand, Project Tamriel is an umbrella for several other province mods. These are Project Cyrodiil, Skyrim: Home of the Nords, High Rock 427, Project Hammerfell, and Elsweyr: Paradise Sugar can be found there.

Painkiller RTX Remix Mod v0.1.6 Available for Download
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/painkiller-rtx-remix-mod-v0-1-6-available-for-download/
Modder ‘Binq_Adams’ has released v0.1.6 of his amazing RTX Remix Path Tracing Mod for the original Painkiller game. This latest version comes with lots of tweaks and improvements. So, let’s take a closer look at them.
V0.1.6 significantly updates the lighting in Asylum, Palace, Military Base and Babel. Moreover, it brings even more high-quality textures to the game. Plus, it updates the tonemapper, and it improves a lot of the in-game materials.
This latest version of Painkiller RTX Remix implements a flashlight. As such, players can now press the “f” key to enable it. Furthermore, it adds an occlusion culling option. Occlusion culling comes with a performance hit. So, if it’s too heavy, you can disable it by pressing the “O” key.
And that’s not all. Painkiller RTX Remix v0.1.6 adds new lights to the flamethrower gas canister, the heater gun cluster grenades, and kamyk pebbles. It also removes the fake bloom from lights on some levels. Plus, it adds preliminary testing for RTX Skin on the Alastor boss in the Tower level.
Sadly, this latest version does not add support for more levels. So, like the previous version, you can use this RTX Remix only for chapters 1-6. That’s a bummer, but hey, it’s at least something.

New Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Mod Improves Ray Tracing
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/clair-obscur-expedition-33-mod-enables-hardware-lumen-improves-ray-tracing/
Modder ‘Caseyclysm’ has released a new mod for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that makes its Ray Tracing effects better. This mod is actually a heavily edited “Engine.ini” file. So, to be more precise, it will turn on some RT features that you can’t normally activate through the game’s settings.
Going into more details, this mod turns on Hardware Lumen for lighting, reflections, and shadows. It also adds support for NVIDIA Ray Reconstruction. On top of that, it helps fix global lighting leaks, making shadows and light look more natural. Plus, it makes hair, clothes, and fog look better than before.
UPDATE:
According to various reports, the mod does not enable Hardware Lumen. However, it will improve the game’s Ray Tracing effects (and it will increase the BVH for RT). Thus, I’ve edited the title of the article to reflect this.

This Oblivion Remastered Mod will GREATLY reduce its stutters
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/this-oblivion-remastered-mod-will-greatly-reduce-its-stutters/
As I wrote in my PC Performance Analysis, the biggest problem with The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is the stuttering while moving around the world. Just like the original game, it can freeze or pause for a moment while you’re exploring. Luckily, there’s a mod that can really help reduce these stutters. And no, it’s not a placebo effect. It really does work.
The mod in question is called Ultimate Engine Tweaks. This is basically a heavily edited “Engine.ini” file. Its main focus is to reduce most of the traversal stutters, improve performance and stability, and decrease input latency.
To show that the mod really works, BlackHoleGaming made a comparison video of Oblivion Remastered with and without the mod. The video clearly shows that the stutters are MUCH less with the Ultimate Engine Tweaks Mod. The mod doesn’t completely fix the stuttering, so the game still won’t be perfect. But, it runs a lot smoother than the original version without the mod.

'Strategists face increased pressure': Marvel Rivals devs fold under pressure from the ongoing 'Support Strike' to make Strategists stronger
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/strategists-face-increased-pressure-marvel-rivals-devs-fold-under-pressure-from-the-ongoing-support-strike-to-make-strategists-stronger/
Hell hath no fury like a Strategist scorned. It's been a week since streamer Necros set off a small atomic bomb in the Marvel Rivals community by calling support mains "idiots" and "morons." Since then, Strategists have been refusing to pick their role in competitive matches. I even came across one player who flexed a lord icon for every single Strategist and then proceeded to pick Hela, which is actually hilarious.
When I initially wrote about the strike, I didn't think it would amount to much, as internet crusades like this tend to fizzle out before they've accomplished any real change. However, I was wrong because I had forgotten how responsive the Marvel Rivals developers are. They've heard the complaints, and in response, they're going to make life a little easier for Strategists.

Resident Evil 9 may have been teased in a new RE4 video, and players are having totally normal reactions to it: 'Together at last, like ice cream and pizza'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/horror/resident-evil-9-may-have-been-teased-in-a-new-re4-video-and-players-are-having-totally-normal-reactions-to-it-together-at-last-like-ice-cream-and-pizza/
(...)
But with no formal direction from Capcom, many fans are left rummaging through scraps like ravenous little raccoons desperate to find something in last night's trash. So it's not really surprising that players spotted what seems to be a Resident Evil 9 nod in a new Resident Evil 4 remake video.
To celebrate 10 million copies worldwide Capcom the developers "prepared a special video to express our gratitude to all of you." The video features Ada Wong ringing the village bell but instead of all the Plagas-ridden villagers stumbling sadly to the church, they're all instead wearing party hats—and even a fake nose and mustache—to celebrate the big occasion. Then as the door closes behind the last party-goer we see "Celebrating 10 million players" painted across it as the camera pans out to Dr Salvador (Chainsaw man) strumming his chainsaw, and maybe even singing along to the rock song playing overhead. But somehow that's not the most exciting part of the video.
At the end as we see Leon standing in the village centre, presumably very confused, the camera then focuses on a sign that also says "thanks for playing" and "glory to the players". It's at this moment that if you turn your head to the side, you see the Roman numerals IX, a nine.

A mimic monster may come to REPO in the future, but it has to be 'really interesting' before it does
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/horror/a-mimic-monster-may-come-to-repo-in-the-future-but-it-has-to-be-really-interesting-before-it-does/
In semiwork's recent Q&A, the question of whether or not mimics would ever come to REPO was answered, and you'll be pleased to know that it was a very firm "maybe." But since this isn't really a confirmation, nor is it a solid no, no details on how they'd work or what exactly this would mean in REPO were shared.

'There's still a lot to do': One year later, Slavic Magic reveals what's next for Manor Lords, including AI progress, a new way to view records, and a team expansion

Manor Lords has been in early access for about a year now, and while that may not feel too long at all, the medieval city builder has come a long way from its impressive beginnings. And apparently, it still has a long way to go.
"There’s still lots to do, and while I’ve been working on new features and improvements for a while now, I wanted to give you all a quick look at what’s coming," developer Greg Styczeń, known as Slavic Magic, says in a blog post. "This is not a full changelog or final list—some of these things are still work-in-progress—but it should give you a good idea of where development is headed."

Russia accuses World of Tanks executives of 'extremist activities,' moves to seize assets of Russian publisher

Top executives at the companies responsible for World of Tanks are facing pressure from the Russian government, which a RIA Novosti report (Google translated, via Eurogamer) says has accused Wargaming owner Viktor Kisly and Lesta Games owner Malik Khatazhaev of "extremist activities" related to Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine. The Russian government has reportedly seized Lesta Group assets as a result of the charge, and is also seeking to seize all of Khatazhaev's holdings in the company.

Bethesda wants you to suggest ideas for Oblivion Remastered, so get over there and tell it to add more shortcut slots and a difficulty between Adept and Expert

It is the year 2025 and Bethesda wants you to tell it how to improve Oblivion. Such is the strange and rich new world we've been plunged into by last week's release of Oblivion Remastered, which fixed some parts of the original game's jank, lovingly preserved others, and introduced some entirely new bits of its own.
Now Bethesda is calling on players to suggest where it (or at least, where developer Virtuos) goes from here. In a channel on its Discord called #oblivion-suggestions, players are pouring in with ideas, beliefs, opinions, and notions.

There's a reason Oblivion Remastered's new voice actors all sound familiar: It's a huge Skyrim reunion
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-elder-scrolls/theres-a-reason-oblivion-remastereds-new-voice-actors-all-sound-familiar-its-a-huge-skyrim-reunion/
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is most notable for its graphical and gameplay updates to the 2006 classic, but something that's brought me a lot of joy is how fantastic and, critically, well-casted its new voiceovers are.
(...)
Bringing back almost exclusively voice actors from The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was a genius way to split the difference. In my experience so far, about half the dialogue has been re-recorded, but the fact that the actors are all experienced Elder Scrolls hands I've spent hundreds of hours listening to means they slip into the remaster like they were always meant to be there, simultaneously refreshing and nostalgic.
>> By the way, the game still has a local map, but it’s a bit different than the original.

Dark Souls 2 cut content includes a giant enemy crab wearing a castle tower as a shell which you could enter from above for massive damage

Dark Souls 2 is widely considered the "worst" Dark Souls game, which is not only wrong (that distinction goes to the greatest hits listlessness of Dark Souls 3) but ignores the fact that it could have had a giant hermit crab with a castle tower as a shell.
As discovered by YouTuber Zullie the Witch, the Lost Bastille area was originally meant to have a big 'ol crustacean boss battle, which would have marked the first appearance of a crab in a series that absolutely loves 'em. The one cut from Dark Souls 2 wasn't just a typical giant crab either, but instead a crab wearing a portion of the Lost Bastille itself on its back.

Infinity Nikki's Steam launch has been branded with 'mixed' reviews after players are struggling to even launch the game
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/infinity-nikkis-steam-launch-has-been-branded-with-mixed-reviews-after-players-are-struggling-to-even-launch-the-game/
After its successful launch in December, Infinity Nikki has finally made its way to Steam. However, the gacha game has quickly been branded with "mixed" reviews after players reported a plethora of issues when launching the game, including multiple crashes and the inability to load into a server.
These issues come as a result of the 1.5 update which rolled out on April 28 and have caused issues for Infinity Nikki across all platforms including its own launcher. Although they aren't exclusive to the Steam release, it definitely doesn't reflect well for players who have waited for the launch, and the disappointment is obvious.

Fortnite's rarest collaboration has returned to the store after a 1,794 day absence
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/battle-royale/fortnites-rarest-collaboration-has-returned-to-the-store-after-a-1-794-day-absence/
Waiting for a missed skin to return in the Fortnite shop is, at times, a trying task. Even more so if you're gunning for a collaboration—some return pretty regularly, while others disappear into the vault for hundreds or even thousands of days, often with no indication of when (or even if) they'll return.
Take the Borderlands Psycho skin, for example. First introduced in August 2019—just before Borderlands 3 launched—it returned a handful of times before vanishing entirely after May 31, 2020. Now, after almost five years, it's back in the store to purchase once more.

Larian's Swen Vincke says AI-obsessed studios won't 'have a competitive advantage', because those tools are 'gonna be what's available to everybody'
https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-industry/game-development/larians-swen-vincke-says-ai-obsessed-studios-wont-have-a-competitive-advantage-because-those-tools-are-gonna-be-whats-available-to-everybody/
AI—that is, the annoyingly titled generative AI, which is super different from the AI we're used to in games, is also different from machine learning technology—has been a massive point of contention just about everywhere. In art, in music, in acting, and in coding. As a result, it's also been an issue in videogames, because they're a combination of all those things, regardless of what the boss of Amazon Games thinks.
It's a problem Larian Studios' founder Swen Vincke has been tackling, as per a recent interview with GameSpot (shown below). Partially because, well, despite being a studio known for making games like the ones yer grandma used to make—handcrafted and filled with loving detail—Larian has been using generative and deep-learning AI, it's just pretty much impossible to talk about without setting off alarm bells.

It didn't take long for Oblivion Remastered players to start pushing the boundaries to see what they could get away with. It only took three hours for someone to upload the first gooner mod, and now one player has managed to break through Cyrodiil's border into Valenwood and Hammerfell.
Valenwood is to the southwest of Cyrodiil, Oblivion's location, and features in The Elder Scrolls Online. While it may be on the border, player GnoblinXD managed to make their way pretty far into the supposedly out-of-bounds map.

Dragon Age creator says Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is 'kind of to JRPGs what Baldur's Gate 3 was to CRPGs'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/dragon-age-creator-says-clair-obscur-expedition-33-is-kind-of-to-jrpgs-what-baldurs-gate-3-was-to-crpgs/
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has done rather well for itself—going blow-for-blow with bigger budget competition in the JRPG space, a genre title that has now fully detached from the country in its acronym because ol' 33 is rather French, but I digress. One million sales in under a week, rave reviews, and heavyweight Steam concurrents despite being on Game Pass.
David Gaider, creator of the Dragon Age series, has also given it a solid two thumbs up, writing on Bluesky: "I've been playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and wow... so far, it's kind of to JRPGs what Baldur's Gate 3 was to CRPGs. It's beautiful and polished and well-written, and the turn-based combat is so fun!"

After a brisk 12 years, Ubisoft has suddenly remembered it apparently owns some kind of series where you do war crimes for the NSA. The company has just added https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/235600/view/519711795144819220?l=englishSteam achievements to Splinter Cell: Blacklist, the 2013 stealth-action game that marks the last time Sam Fisher was seen alive in a videogame of his own.

Project A.R.E.S. is a brand new dark quest mod for Fallout 4
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/project-a-r-e-s-is-a-brand-new-dark-quest-mod-for-fallout-4/
Modder ‘Coletrain991’ has released a new dark quest mod for Fallout 4 that brings new free content to the game. This is a simple but cool mod. So, if you’re still playing F4, I recommend getting it.
Going into more details, Project A.R.E.S. introduces several new quests, two brand-new voiced NPCs, and one brand-new handcrafted dungeon. It also adds a new store (and vendor), as well as new medicinal items to give your vault dweller a fighting chance in the wasteland.
The new locations that this mod adds are A.R.E.S. Drug Store and MedTek Bunker. Located near Diamond City, the A.R.E.S. Drug Store is the newest business in Downtown Boston. The owner and operator, A.R.E.S., makes a new blend of drugs scavenged from MedTek research documents that give the users an upper-hand in most situations.
On the other hand, MedTek Bunker is filled with horrifying discoveries of what pre-war MedTek was truly like. Terminals and notes detail the experience for all occupants. Both of these locations will provide the player with a new quest to complete.
>> Sadly, there is mo media about this mod.
