Technically they didn't delay Dark Soul's 2. They just announced that it wasn't going to be delayed more than a month :P.

zarx is a sensationalist!

It's slightly delayed compared to the console versions, and they said it would be launched along side the console versions.

Technically by their verbiage (In the same time window) couldn't that mean before too?

I know it's going to be delayed a bit, I'm just busting balls heh.

Call me when they make a spinoff staring Asami Sato lol. It's ok but not worth talking about IMO, I would just end up making myself depressed by thinking about how much of a dissapointment it is.

Anywhoo

State of Decay comes to Steam Early Access tomorrow

Zombie survival sandbox State of Decay will finally be playable on PC this week.

Undead Labs announced that the PC version will be available on Steam Early Access on September 20; presumably September 21 for those of us on this side of the International date line, for the samer price as the Xbox 360 version – $20.

State of Decay is going live without keyboard and mouse support – that’s on the way before full release – and Undead Labs warns that it’s very much a beta release and should not be considered indicative of the final game experience.

“What you’ll see this Friday, if you choose to join forces with us to make the PC version kick ass, is a test version. It’s not ready to be reviewed. It will not be perfect. It may still have crashes,” the developer wrote.

“This process is not for everyone. Casual players, the easily frustrated, and the short of time should not get the Early Access version. Hey, I am all three of those things, y’all. Those are not criticisms. It’s just that we want everyone to have the experience that best suits their needs. You all deserve the best, so if you’re not into giving feedback, just wait a few months and play the final version after we make it great.
And it will be great, with the help of the rest of you – the hardcore early adopters that made State of Decay into something huge.”

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter gameplay details, screenshots released

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, the horror fiction title from former People Can Fly developers The Astronauts, has been revealed through new screenshots and a lovely fact sheet sent over to us.

In the game players take on the role of Paul Prospero who is a detective with the supernatural ability to visualize scenes of lethal crimes. As he investigates the kidnapping of a young boy, the journey leads him to a mountain area, where he finds “a severely mutilated body of one of the kidnappers.”

Prospero must use both is supernatural and normal investigative abilities to solve the mysteries surrounding the events in the game as well as the purpose behind the ancient force ruling the area.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is played via a first-person perspective and players will interact with the environment in order to discover the truth. The more clues discovered, the clearer and longer Paul’s supernatural vision becomes.

According to the developers, the game will not contain cutscenes and makes use of a “largely untapped medium for powerful storytelling possibilities.”

“Every developer with a deep interest in the storytelling side of gaming uses different ways to let players live through a story: from interactive dramas like The Walking Dead to story-exploration games like Gone Home to online adventures like Journey,” said the developers.

“The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is our own attempt to tell a multi-layered story while keeping the player completely immersed and constantly engaged–with the unique sense of presence only video games can offer.”

Described as “weird fiction” horror, the focus of the game will be on “atmosphere, mood, and the essential humanity of our characters,” for adult players.

There is no combat in the game and it can be experienced at the player’s own pace – it’s less about “pure terror and more about clammy unease.”

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is currently in development for PC, but the team hopes to bring it to next-gen platforms. The game is in full production, is without a set release date.
