EA ACCESS ARRIVES ON PC AS ORIGIN ACCESS

http://www.pcgamer.com/ea-access-programme-arrives-on-pc/

I was surprised that EA chose to launch its subscription service on Xbox before PC, so this news feels like confirmation of the inevitable: EA Access, now named Origin Access, is live in the UK, US, Canada and Germany. For £3.99/€3.99/$4.99 per month, you can play any of the 15 games in the line-up, with more from EA's catalogue to be added over time.

DIABLO 3 2.4.0 PATCH IS NOW LIVE IN THE AMERICAS

http://www.pcgamer.com/diablo-3-240-patch-is-now-live-in-the-americas/

The Diablo 3 2.4.0 patch has been unleashed upon the Americas, and as promised, it's a biggie. It adds a new forested locale called Greyhollow Island, new additions to the Ruins of Sescheron and Leoric's Manor zones, 24 custom-designed “set dungeons” built around specific class sets, empowered Rifts, Season Rebirths, a revised Buff Bar, and the addition of "Action Combat," which is apparently a popular feature on the console versions of the game, to the PC edition. And those are just the big bits.

With the finish line crossed, Double Fine livestreamed an “End of Campaign celebration” on Twitch, which is now over but still available on demand, with an appearance by original Psychonauts writer (and current Valve guy) Erik Wolpaw.

HEROES OF THE STORM'S NEWEST HERO IS A SHAPE-SHIFTING WORGEN

http://www.pcgamer.com/heroes-of-the-storms-newest-hero-is-a-shape-shifting-worgen/

We've known Greymane was on his way to Heroes of the Storm since BlizzCon, but today he finally entered the nexus—and more importantly, we finally got a look at his abilities. While transformation being a part of his kit was sort of a given, I wasn't sure how they would go about implementing that mechanic. Whether as a Heroic ability like Muradin's Avatar, not directly controllable like League of Legends' Gnar, or just simply pressing a button as part of his passive.

PAYDAY 2 IS GETTING A GOAT SIMULATOR GAME MODE

http://www.pcgamer.com/payday-2-is-getting-a-goat-simulator-game-mode/

I still think there's life in the zombie apocalypse. I'm not sure what the idea to refresh the shambling undead will be, but maybe The Final Station's freight train is the thing to do it. I'd rather this than Fallout's Thomas the Tank Engine at any rate.

FINNISH DEVS ATTEMPT EXTREME GAME JAM

http://www.pcgamer.com/finnish-devs-attempt-extreme-game-jam/

Once upon a time, the challenge of creating a game in a weekend was enough for game jammers, but the Finns refer to this as 'easy mode'. Each year, to coincide with the Global Game Jam, Finnish participants do something daft, like developing on a moving bus (normal mode). For the 2016 Jam, January 29-31, 20 developers will be trekking out to a cabin in the Arctic Circle. There is no internet, no running water, no reliable supply of electricity. And let's not forget what the Finns refer to as 'kaamos': 24-hour polar night. Details, right?

Andy is of the firm opinion that there aren't enough games set in the Ghost in the Shell universe. It has a 26-year history to draw on, first as serialised manga then an anime series, a number of films and four videogames. The most recent of the latter is Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex—First Assault Online (pause for a moment to catch your breath), a squad shooter from Neople which, not content with a sizable legacy to draw on, is taking the canon in its own direction. At 5pm GMT today, the character roster will be joined by an operative unique to First Assault but designed in conjunction with the official Ghost in the Shell team.

Fantastic!

This is one of the leaked steamDB games from last year.

So that makes three released games so far

-Guilty Gear Xrd Sign
-Final Fantasy VI
and this one now.

More chance of FFX/X-2 and the other games to come!

One game is luck, two are a coincidence, but three...

STASIS PREQUEL CHAPTER IS BEING BUILT "FROM THE GROUND UP"

http://www.pcgamer.com/stasis-prequel-chapter-is-being-built-from-the-ground-up/

One of the stretch goals in the Kickstarter for the sci-fi horror-adventure Stasis promised the creation of a prequel chapter that would dig into the story of the Cayne Corporation, the Weyland-Yutani-like conglomerate behind so much of the game's misery. LOVELY PLANET SEQUEL GETS A NAME AND TEASER

DYING LIGHT: THE FOLLOWING TRAILER SHOWS OFF BUGGY CUSTOMISATION

http://www.pcgamer.com/dying-light-the-following-gameplay-trailer-shows-off-buggy-customisation/

It has to be said: Dying Light was one of the better supported games of 2015. The forthcoming expansion, The Following, is looking pretty meaty too. So meaty, that another studio might consider releasing it as a standalone.

VentureBeat has an interview with AMD

http://venturebeat.com/2016/01/15/amds-graphics-guru-describes-the-march-to-full-graphics-immersion-with-16k-screens/

It's mostly PR talk and the only thing worth noting is that there are two versions of Polaris: Polaris 10 and Polaris 11. The article doesn't describe the differences between them but we can speculate, right?

My guess is that one is the GloFo chip and the other is the Samsung one and its biggest difference will be the performance vs efficiency. What I think AMD will do is use the most efficient chips in their low end cards so they can sell them in laptops and such, and use their less efficient but better performing ones as  their mid to high end cards. And that's because gamers aren't affraid of choosing a card that uses a bit more power if the performance gains are there too.

AGATHA CHRISTIE: THE ABC MURDERS RELEASES FEBRUARY 4

http://www.pcgamer.com/agatha-christie-the-abc-murders-releases-february-4/

Hercule Poirot might be my favourite fictional Belgian detective—he's definitely in my top five. Adventure games are a good fit for his fussy, moustachioed investigative style, and now we have another: The ABC Murders. It's based on the Agatha Christie novel 'TekWar' 'The ABC Murders', about a serial killer who chooses his victims in a rather arbitrary manner, which is to say that he picks them alphabetically.

DOOR KICKERS 2 ANNOUNCED, OUT NEXT WINTER

http://www.pcgamer.com/door-kickers-2-announced-out-next-winter/

No one heard its approach, but Door Kickers forced entry to Steam and took it by storm. Ian described it as a perfectly pure, focused strategy game in which each stage was a puzzle to attempt, fail and try again. He wasn't so keen on the militarised police, but Door Kickers 2 solves that one: you are the military, and the baddies are non-specific Middle Eastern terrorists, so I doubt you'll need to concern yourself with taking prisoners.
