STASIS PREQUEL CHAPTER IS BEING BUILT "FROM THE GROUND UP"

http://www.pcgamer.com/stasis-prequel-chapter-is-being-built-from-the-ground-up/

One of the stretch goals in the Kickstarter for the sci-fi horror-adventure Stasis promised the creation of a prequel chapter that would dig into the story of the Cayne Corporation, the Weyland-Yutani-like conglomerate behind so much of the game's misery. The Kickstarter was successful, the stretch goal achieved, Stasis has proven a success, and the prequel is in the works. But instead of simply building more content into the existing game, “we made the difficult decision to build Cayne from the ground up.”

LOVELY PLANET SEQUEL GETS A NAME AND TEASER

http://www.pcgamer.com/lovely-planet-sequel-gets-a-name-and-teaser/

In an effort to be mildly confusing, the sequel to 2014's Lovely Planet (one of my favorite games of that year) will be called Lovely Planet Arcade. But it's not the same game repackaged as a downloadable Xbox 360 game, which is sort of what it sounds like—it's truly a new game.

WARHAMMER 40,000: ETERNAL CRUSADE IS COMING TO EARLY ACCESS

http://www.pcgamer.com/warhammer-40000-eternal-crusade-is-coming-to-early-access/

It was a little shy of three years ago that the third-person MMO Warhammer 40,000: Eternal Crusade was announced with a scheduled launch date (well, year) of 2015. That didn't happen, although we did get to see some gameplay footage thanks to a brief trailer that came out last November. But today developer Behavior Interactive announced that the game will soon go live on Steam Early Access.

MOJANG'S 2D BRAWLER COBALT GETS A FIRM RELEASE DATE

http://www.pcgamer.com/mojangs-2d-brawler-cobalt-gets-a-firm-release-date/

Originally slated for release in October, Mojang's Cobalt was delayed to an unspecified date in February. Now we have a specific day: February 2, to be exact. It'll set you back $19.99, and will come with Steam Workshop support, meaning you'll be able to make your own levels, and play levels created by others. If you paid to take part in the alpha, you'll be provided with free Steam code.

DYING LIGHT: THE FOLLOWING TRAILER SHOWS OFF BUGGY CUSTOMISATION

http://www.pcgamer.com/dying-light-the-following-gameplay-trailer-shows-off-buggy-customisation/

It has to be said: Dying Light was one of the better supported games of 2015. In addition to regular updates, studio Techland provided some flexible modding tools, which the community has wielded in some impressive ways. The forthcoming expansion, The Following, is looking pretty meaty too. So meaty, that another studio might consider releasing it as a standalone.

PLANET IS A MEDITATIVE BROWSER GAME ABOUT BUILDING WORLDS

http://www.pcgamer.com/planet-is-a-meditative-browser-game-about-building-worlds/

Sometimes when I'm playing Cities: Skylines I wish I didn't have to please anyone. I wish I was allowed to just sit back and make mountains and nice rock formations. I'm sure there's a mod for that, but there's also Planet – a quiet, relaxing planet-molding game where you don't need to worry about sewerage management (or anything else).

PS1-ALIKE OMNIBUS CAREERING ONTO STEAM IN SPRING

http://www.pcgamer.com/ps1-alike-omnibus-careering-onto-steam-in-spring/

Phil wrote a bit about OmniBus last year, rightfully describing it as "cool" and even creating a new tag in honour of it. A lot has happened since Phil wrote his story. Studio Buddy Cops has continued to develop it off the back of a Kickstarter campaign, and respected indie publisher Devolver Digital has decided to publish it. Described as "a crazy Playstation 1 style physics game about the unstoppable force of nature that is OMNIBUS!", the game is set to release in spring (or autumn if you're in Australia).

THE WESTPORT INDEPENDENT CLEARED TO RELEASE JANUARY 21

http://www.pcgamer.com/the-westport-independent-cleared-to-release-january-21/

'Censorship simulator' The Westport Independent has been cleared for publication and will arrive on Steam on January 21. As the editor of the Independent and a fan of your personal freedom, you'll be tasked with making as few people angry as possible, trying to keep the Loyalist government pleased with your reporting without libelling (or indeed being wholly accurate) about the growing rebel force in the country.
