When I read your post, the first hing that came to my mind was "wait a minute. There was a DSOG article about this!".

Sure enough, they posted an article about it telling how it's because of a botched update they did in early June and that they're working on a permanent fix. The article also has two ways to fix the problem, although neither of them are without some cons.

@Chrkeller: The performance issues with Shadow of the Erdtree appear to he resolved, at least for me. I haven't had any proper stuttering in the last 3-4 hours of game time now!

If it comes down to 3D performance vs what is standard at the time, probably right now, in work computer - fanless nVidia 710. But that card has 0dB loudness and 4 HDMIs, and that's exactly what it's supposed to do - be perfectly quite and run 4 monitors.
