Thanks. Yea it's awesome. I would have gotten the LG one since it's flat and Matte which helps with lights but alienware one costed $700 less than LG/Asus thanks to their sales and student discount so I couldn't resist. The curve is also pretty subtle so not too bad.

Nice, glad you're enjoying it. Yeah think the benefits of QD-OLED are probably worth it as overall vs W-OLED. Working out cheaper is a bonus; like better text clarity and higher brightness. And you get Dell's 3 year burn in warranty. Pretty much endgame stuff there as technology goes. I think for such a large panel a little curve is okay since it gives you more FOV when sitting closer. Though I guess I'm used to it with my 1000R curve lol.

Will hold out with my current setup for now until the 5080, and maybe then I'll find an excuse to get decent 4K OLED around that time.

I'm really tempted to get the ROG Ally X as my first Windows-handheld (complementary to my Steam Deck OLED + Switch OLED).

My main complain of the other ROG Ally models always was the mediocre battery life and they now doubled the capacity!

Sure, it gets 10% heavier by that, but it's still a lot lighter than the Legion Go and in the ballpark of my Steam Deck LCD.

The ergonomic improvements (rounded edges of the case, sticks, d-pad...) and 50% more (and faster) RAM are welcome and the microSD-card-slot is (probably) fixed.

Even if the microSD-card-slot should fail after a few years, you can go crazy and upgrade the SSD up to 8 TB.
M2.2280 SSDs are usually much cheaper per TB than M2.2230 SSDs.

I don't plan to use it docked with an eGPU... but thanks to USB4.0/Thunderbolt such a solution should be also much cheaper than using the proprietary port of the old models.

But if you plan to use the ROG Ally X with an eGPU... get an Nvidia-eGPU to avoid Radeon driver conflicts between the internal and external GPU... thanks to The Phawx for that tip!

Here some more infos from the whore's mouth (did I use that phrase right?)

It Takes 2 doesn't require EA launcher anymore. Not sure if anyone is impacted or cares. But tossing that out there.

I do want to invest in a portable PC. Shared library and cloud saves is pretty damn cool.

Mortal Kombat 1 now has an amazing X-Men ’97 Mod, so download it before Warner Bros takes it down
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/mortal-kombat-1-now-has-an-amazing-x-men-97-mod-so-download-it-before-warner-bros-takes-it-down/
Now here is something special for all our Mortal Kombat 1 fans. Modder ‘IOI-632671’ has released an incredible pack that brings to the game all your favourite characters from the X-Men ’97 cartoon.
This is a must-have mod that you must download right now. The reason I’m saying this is because Warner Bros may very well take it down. After all, that’s exactly what the publisher did to the Disney & Pixar Mods. So, waste no time and download it right now.
Going into more details, this pack replaces Omniman with Magneto. Wolverine is now in place of Baraka, and Gambit has replaced Reiko. Then we have MrSinister over Ermac, and Beast over Darrius. Professor X has replaced Shujinko, and Storm is now in the place of Frost. Finally, Rogue has replaced Sonya.
What’s cool here is that this pack comes with some cool details. For instance, the modder has replaced Reiko’s throwing stars with Gambit’s kinetically charged cards. Professor X also sits in his iconic wheelchair. And then we have a Hugh Jackman model for Wolverine. Oh, and both Spider-Man and Deadpool are available as Kameo characters.

Someone is remaking The Legend of Zelda NES in Unreal Engine 5
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/someone-is-remaking-the-legend-of-zelda-nes-in-unreal-engine-5/
YouTube’s ‘LloydEmpty’ has shared a video, showcasing a WIP version of a fan remake of The Legend of Zelda NES in Unreal Engine 5. This video packs 20 minutes of gameplay footage from it. So, make sure to check it out.
To create this fan remake, the artist used Unreal Engine 5, FMOD, Blender and Gimp. However, I don’t know whether LloydEmpty plans to release this project to the public.
As said, this fan remake is still a WIP. Thus, it’s a bit rough around the edges. Still, it’s a cool concept, and we are certain that some Zelda fans may find it interesting.

Modders bring Crash Team Racing to PC with 60fps and Online/Multiplayer support
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/modders-bring-crash-team-racing-to-pc-with-60fps-and-online-multiplayer-support/
Now here is why we love modding. A group of modders have brought the classic PlayStation 1 kart game, Crash Team Racing, to the PC. This unofficial PC version uses DuckStation, requires the original PS1 disc, and, most importantly, supports 60fps and online play.
As the team noted, it has spent years disassembling the original Naughty Dog assembly/machine code back to C and managed to make it playable online without harming the original gameplay. Not only that but they have also added some new exciting features along the way. One of them is, obviously, the ability to play it at 60fps.
Online Crash Team Racing supports up to 8 players. The game also has dedicated servers, and all tracks and characters are unlocked by default. As such, you’ll be able to race where you want with who you want.
This is such a cool project that Sony or Activision won’t be able to shut down. As said, this free game requires the original ROM of Crash Team Racing. It does not have any assets from it, and it does not contain anything from its original code.

New The Witcher 3 Mods Improve Visual Effects & Add New Unmarked Locations to the White Orchard
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/new-mods-for-the-witcher-3-improve-visual-effects-and-add-new-unmarked-locations-to-the-white-orchard/
Two new mods, based on the REDkit Modding Tools, have surfaced this week for The Witcher 3. As such, instead of sharing them separately, I’ve decided to include them both in one big article. So, let’s take a closer look at them.
The first mod is called NextGen Better FX and attempts to improve numerous visual effects. The mod adds more sparks, more/better smoke, better clouds and brings a new Fog fx. Moreover, it allows enemies and Geralt to be covered in blood during their battles. Not only that but it will improve the game’s fur shaders. As such, NPC furs will move in the wind now. Oh, and it will also fix the freezing of the whale animation in Skellige.
(...)
The second mod is Landmarks of White Orchard. This mod adds around 20 new unmarked locations in the White Orchard area. Ruins, shrines, abandoned wagons and rest stops will be all waiting to be discovered. Since this mod adds new free content to the game, it’s a nice welcome addition. You can download it from this link.

This Skyrim Mod expands the Destroy The Dark Brotherhood Quest with new dialogue, choices, and more fights
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/this-skyrim-mod-expands-the-destroy-the-dark-brotherhood-quest-with-new-dialogue-choices-and-more-fights/
Modders ‘TheOscar0’ and ‘JaySerpa’ have released a pretty cool new mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition. This mod will expand the Destroy The Dark Brotherhood quest with new dialogue, choices, and more fights.
As the modders noted, this mod introduces new lore-friendly ways to get kidnapped by Astrid. This will also allow you to Destroy the Dark Brotherhood even after sparing Grelod. Not only that but the mod expands the quest with new dialogue, choices, and more fights.
Additionally, the mod is fully voiced. It’s also a bit more complex than the vanilla quest. In this expanded version, you’ll have to discover the password on your own, meet a new character and track down a couple of assassins outside the sanctuary. Plus, the mod stays true to the game’s lore.

Everyone's excited for Skyblivion, but one dedicated dev has been working for years to go in the opposite direction: cramming Oblivion into a version of Morrowind's engine—and they've got a good reason for it too
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/everyones-excited-for-skyblivion-but-one-dedicated-dev-has-been-working-for-years-to-go-in-the-opposite-direction-cramming-oblivion-into-a-version-of-morrowinds-engineand-theyve-got-a-good-reason-for-it-too/
The big hotness in Elder Scrolls modding lately has been Skyblivion, a project to remake The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion with shiny new assets in Skyrim's Creation Engine. That's usually the direction these things move in: older game to newer tech base, but one developer who goes by cc9cii has been putting in hard work to go in the opposite direction: porting Oblivion and Fallouts 3 and New Vegas into the OpenMW engine for 2002's The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind.
That OpenMW distinction is key here: this isn't some kind of meme demake, but rather an attempt to port these games to a flexible, open source engine, with all the benefits that entails.

A new mod aims to remaster 5500 voice lines from cult classic RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, cleaning up the audio and fixing volume levels 'with extreme care for the source material'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/a-new-mod-aims-to-remaster-5500-voice-lines-from-cult-classic-rpg-vampire-the-masquerade-bloodlines-cleaning-up-the-audio-and-fixing-volume-levels-with-extreme-care-for-the-source-material/
A modder rather descriptively named TheAudioService has just come out with a mod to improve the audio quality in one of my very favorite games, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. The pack purports to improve volume levels and quality across 5,500 different voice lines in V:TM-B.
This is one of those thankless tasks, a painstaking exercise in minor improvements that might not be immediately apparent to all players. "Changes are subtle, sometimes even unnoticeable," TheAudioService cautions in the mod's description, though they add that "Sometimes you'll notice a huge difference." A helpful YouTube preview for the mod shows off an early dialogue with Vampire lackey Mercutio as an example of what to expect.

Slime Rancher 2's latest update adds toys and see-saws for your colourful blobs, letting you transform your ranch into a playground for profit

Like a Tabby slime squelching into your chicken coop, Slime Rancher 2 has been steadily working its way through its early access period since it launched in September 2022. This February, developer Monomi Park added 36 new gadgets into its squidgy farming sim, including a constructible Slime pinball machine. Now, its v.0.5.0 update adds yet more gizmos to the game, alongside a whole new way to purchase them: the ProntoMart.

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail's official site goes up, casually reveals that we're doing both a tournament arc and a field trip to the Bermuda Triangle

Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail's early access is less than a month away—which can only mean one thing: I am just now scrambling to get all the Yo-Kai Watch event items and suffering for it. Oh, right, and the official Dawntrail site is up, that's important too.

After a complete rebranding, legally-distinct Bloodborne parody Nightmare Kart is finally released to the general public—and the PS1 vibes are immaculate
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/racing/after-a-complete-rebranding-legally-distinct-bloodborne-parody-nightmare-kart-is-finally-released-to-the-general-publicand-the-ps1-vibes-are-immaculate/
Nightmare Kart, the game formerly known as Bloodborne Kart, has had quite the roundabout journey to get here. Announced back in March 2022, the fan project—a Bloodborne-themed kart racer which feels like it started as a bit that was yes-anded into a real thing—was meant to be released January 31 of this year.
Alas, Sony eventually stepped in just as the game was about to cross the finish line, and developer Lilith Walther was forced to completely rebrand the entire game. This has turned out to be a blessing and a curse—a curse, because it made the release date drift by a couple of months. A blessing, because in Walther's own words: "This is a fan game no more!" Now it's here, as announced by Walther on Twitter.

The latest overnight survival game fixation blends a Mesoamerican theme, Bionicle masks, and the occasional Destiny guy
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/survival-crafting/the-latest-overnight-survival-game-fixation-blends-a-mesoamerican-theme-bionicle-masks-and-the-occasional-destiny-guy/
At this point, it's one of life's regular occurrences: You buy groceries each week, you pay rent each month, and somewhere in between you'll wake up in the morning to see tens of thousands of people are playing a survival game you hadn't heard of when you went to bed the night before. Soulmask, which hit Early Access today, seems it's the newest offering to sate our boundless hunger for base-building and resource foraging.

Wildermyth developer Worldwalker Games is 'going into hibernation,' not because it has to but because it wants to: 'We did what we set out to do'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/wildermyth-developer-worldwalker-games-is-going-into-hibernation-not-because-it-has-to-but-because-it-wants-to-we-did-what-we-set-out-to-do/
Wildermyth, a narrative-driven tactical RPG released in 2021, is a game that "deserves to define the next decade," we wrote in our 90% review. Sadly, the studio that made it won't be around that long: Worldwalker Games co-owner Nate Austin has announced that after a "wonderful journey," Wildermyth is finished, and the studio "is going into hibernation."

Frostpunk devs say they're not out to make 'depression simulators' despite all the death and child labour: 'There always has to be a good way out'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/city-builder/frostpunk-devs-say-theyre-not-out-to-make-depression-simulators-despite-all-the-death-and-child-labour-there-always-has-to-be-a-good-way-out/
The thing about both Frostpunk 1 and 2, 11 Bit's snowpocalyptic city-builders that see you eke out a desperate existence in a world plunged into perma-frost, is they're a real bummer. There's the child labour, the organ harvesting, the fact that you can't even solve the riddle of history without annihilating your populace through hypothermia. There's just a lot to be sad about, in general.
But despite it all, Frostpunk 2 co-director (and senior lead designer on the first game) Jakub Stokalski tells PCG the studio's not out to make you sad. At least, not all the time. "There's a joke running around that we're really doing 'depression simulators' at 11 Bit Studios," says Stokalski, "And on the one hand, that's a pretty distinct way of defining a game studio, but at the same time I would hope that our game was not really about making people feel miserable."
>> The studio is also surprised by the challenges some players put on themselves.

A new throwback RPG is so good, it's won praise from Larian boss Swen Vincke: 'I’m flying to LA next week and plan to play it the entire flight'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/a-new-throwback-rpg-is-so-good-its-won-praise-from-larian-boss-swen-vincke-im-flying-to-la-next-week-and-plan-to-play-it-the-entire-flight/
Retro-style RPG Skald: Against the Black Priory is a game that's almost snuck up on us with how good it is. Its VGA-style color palette and pixel art graphics harken back to an earlier age of CRPG history—one even earlier than the late '90s Fallout/Baldur's Gate heyday that continues to define the genre—and it pays homage to the oft-forgotten Ultima series. Skald is a niche product to be sure, but it's also found an advocate in one of the most prominent figures in gaming: Larian CEO Swen Vincke.

Take-Two CEO: The idea that AI will make everyone unemployed is 'the stupidest thing I've ever heard'
https://www.pcgamer.com/software/ai/take-two-ceo-the-idea-that-ai-will-make-everyone-unemployed-is-the-stupidest-thing-ive-ever-heard/
The rise of AI will probably (hopefully) not end with armies of merciless T-series androids roaming the streets of shattered cities, hunting down the pathetic remnants of humanity. It's somewhat more reasonable to worry (in the short term, at least) that it could put a whole bunch of people out of work, and convert much of our artistic landscape into soulless, six-fingered sludge. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick doesn't think so, though: In fact, speaking at a recent TD Cowen conference, he predicted precisely the opposite.
>> Well, he himself says some pretty dumb sh*t every now and then, so he knows a thing or two about stupid things.

An IGN report says Take-Two Interactive is looking to either sell or close Private Division, the indie-focused publishing label launched in 2017, and that most of the staff at Private Division have already been laid off.

Valve has now filed for a trademark for Deadlock, the hero shooter it refuses to admit exists
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/valve-has-now-filed-for-a-trademark-for-deadlock-the-hero-shooter-it-refuses-to-admit-exists/
Deadlock is a hero shooter that both does and does not exist, which is to say that we've all seen it and talked about it, and plenty of people have played it and are likely playing it at this moment, but Valve has steadfastly refused to acknowledge that anyone is even paying attention to it, much less that it's something currently in development, thus leaving it in a suspended state not unlike, say, a metaphorical cat in a box. But now Deadlock does not exist slightly less than it did not exist yesterday, because Valve has applied for a trademark on the name.
>> It’s from May 30. Wouldn’t it be fun if someone has already trademarked it after all the leaks?

Guess what, today there’s a third part of the news:

The Sony State of Play 'open-world dress-up adventure' game and the RPG where you carry a child on your back are both headed for PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/the-sony-state-of-play-open-world-dress-up-adventure-game-and-the-rpg-where-you-carry-a-child-on-your-back-are-both-headed-for-pc/
I'll be honest, yesterday's Sony State of Play has already turned to a blur in my memory. All I recall is a now-familiar absence of Bloodborne and someone, at some point, saying "The path of a stylist is never easy" with a gravitas you usually reserve for warning your headstrong young apprentice off a quest to avenge his father or telling people the stock market has crashed.
The game that line came from, it turns out, was Infinity Nikki, the full-fat console follow-up to the Nikki series of dress-up games you can find on mobile. With the absolutely irresistible tagline of "It's glam time any time!"—which is also the maxim by which I live my life—Infinity Nikki promises an open-world fashion adventure that takes the stylist (and stylish) Nikki through multiple nations "each with a unique culture and history." And presumably outfits, which all have their own strange effects and powers.

Rather than the traditional paper-themed gift or a clock or something, it'll be celebrating with a week of free cosmetics and a pair of events called the March of the Goblins and Mother's Blessing.

UBOAT looks to be the best WW2 submarine simulator in a long time
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/sim/uboat-looks-to-be-the-best-ww2-submarine-simulator-in-a-long-time/
The submarine-captain simulator used to be a pretty big deal, but it—among many other simulator genres—has fallen out of favor in the past decade. Depending on who you ask, the last great submarine sim was one of the last few Silent Hunter games released between 2005 and 2010—all of which are surely heavily modded in some way.
No more, though, as Deep Water Studio's UBOAT is set to release some time soon and seems to have really taken genre fans with its blend of operations detail and life on-board the infamous convoy-raiding German submarines of World War 2. First released in 2019, the Early Access period is now coming to a close with the release of a beta for the complete game this past week.

Helldivers 2 players save democracy by turning a planet into an ominous black hole that makes whale noises: Which is fine and normal and not a wormhole to the Illuminate, stop asking
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/helldivers-2-players-save-democracy-by-turning-a-planet-into-an-ominous-black-hole-that-makes-whale-noises-which-is-fine-and-normal-and-not-a-wormhole-to-the-illuminate-stop-asking/
The latest Helldivers 2 major order has had some issues—but fair play to Arrowhead, the climax of said order is very dang cool, and far better than the lack of rewards offered for the Menkent Line.
In case you've not been keeping up with your Super Earth-mandated news broadcasts, last week divers were deployed to Meridia, the site of a super colony of Terminids. They were instructed to inject dark fluid, an experimental substance that spaghettified some scientists and was "liberated from the Illuminate following the First Galactic War", into the planet's crust.
(...)
Upon completing the major order, however, Helldivers 2 players were immediately ejected out of the planet's orbit and delivered the following cutscene on the galactic map—captured courtesy of red-blooded patriot Interjessing-Salary on the game's subreddit.

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/starfield-players-reckon-something-big-is-going-on-behind-the-scenes-but-its-probably-just-the-upcoming-shattered-space-expansion/
There are some rumblings going on in Starfield communities right now, as a few players have spotted some activity going on with the man behind the space curtain—specifically, there are more change logs now than ever before in the game's history.

Patch 7 of Baldur's Gate 3 heralds the arrival of mod support in September, with a closed beta starting next month
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/baldurs-gate/patch-7-of-baldur-s-gate-3-heralds-the-arrival-of-mod-support-in-september-with-a-closed-beta-starting-next-month/
In terms of updates, Baldur's Gate 3 is—for the most part—starting to wind down, with the latest patch released in February of this year and Larian shifting gears to work on its new RPGs. That's only normal (the Sword Coast doesn't need battle passes), but there's still one more patch left in the oven: Patch 7.
The update, which is scheduled to release September of this year, intends to add "evil endings, plus a whole bunch of fixes, quality of life improvements, and more"—but that's not the marquee feature. The juicier, more long-term-impact of Patch 7 is that Baldur's Gate 3 will be finally getting fully-fledged mod support.
