That's awful.

See, that's something that I've never understood, and it's not limited to gaming: the "if I can't have/use it, no one can" mentality. If Warner doesn't want to publish those games anymore, then just transfer the rights to the studios that developed those games so they can still get something out of them.

Warner's CEO is notorious for literally taking anything they have and simply throwing it into the tax write off machine. The Wile cayote film is another victim of this, and now it seems the AS games are too, because they would rather write them off and liquidate them, than to give them to anyone else, because there's zero money in it for them in doing small deals.

Guy seriously needs to get fired, not just from his job, but from the entire planet, he's yet another douchebag CEO in the line of idiotic/greedy CEO's.

If you ask me, it should be made illegal to trash projects and existing IP's for quick cash in the span of a decade, because it has become an obvious pattern with WB, that it's no longer making any sense to start up a project, only to melt it down right before completion, as well as flat out melting existing and finished projects.

Don't forget abotu Batgirl. It was also a Warner movie that they also write off.

Gonna play the DLC next.

Congratulations.

I remember the DLCs were fun, except the Moxxi's one, that's very boring if you do it alone (like I did).

I did the DLCs on the original version when I played Borderlands 11 years ago.

I really like the Zombie and Claptrap revolution dlcs.

The General Knoxx one felt too long and repetitive and ya I skipped out on Moxxi's lol.

I'll try to do them all again to see how it works out this time around.

In just a week, Steam sets a new record with 35 million concurrent players
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/in-just-a-week-steam-sets-a-new-record-with-35-million-concurrent-players/
Last week, Steam surpassed 34 million concurrent players. And in just a week, Valve’s digital service has managed to set a brand new record as it passed over 35 million concurrent players.
Now, let’s take a look at the Top 20 Most Played Games in the last 24 hours. What’s interesting here is that the first six games are the same as those from last week. Counter-Strike 2 leads the charts, followed by DOTA 2, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, Apex Legends, Helldivers 2 and NARAKA: BLADEPOINT. GTA 5 has managed to climb to the eighth place, whereas Palworld has fallen to the ninth place. Last Epoch also lost two places, and can be now found in the tenth place.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

The canceled Nintendo Switch emulator, Yuzu, runs Unicorn Overlord with 60fps
https://www.dsogaming.com/pc-performance-analyses/nintendo-switch-emulator-yuzu-unicorn-overlord-60fps/
Unicorn Overlord is a new tactical RPG that just came out on Nintendo Switch. And even though the big “N” has shut down Yusu, this canceled Nintendo Switch emulator can run this game with 60fps on PC.
YouTube’s ‘reznoire’ posted a video featuring more than 7 minutes of gameplay from it. And, as we can see, the game is playable on Yuzu. There don’t seem to be any major visual or graphical issues. Plus, the performance looks really good.
To capture this gameplay footage, reznoire used an Intel Core i9-14900K with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and 48GB of RAM. It’s a pretty high-end PC system. The good news though is that reznoire has included the MSI Afterburner/Rivatunner overlay in the video. And, as we can see, the RTX4090 was used at around 60%.

Here are Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon’s Souls, Uncharted 3, Killzone 3 and more running on PC via the latest version of RPCS3
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/gran-turismo-5-metal-gear-solid-4-demons-souls-uncharted-3-killzone-3-pc/
The team behind the best PlayStation 3 emulator, RPCS3, has released a new video. In this video, we get to see games like Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, Demon’s Souls, Uncharted 3, Killzone 3 and more running on PC via the latest version of the PS4 emulator.
Going into more details, Gran Turismo 5 now appears to be playable on PC. On a high-end PC system, you can get 60fps during races. Killzone 3 also appears to be running great, especially now that the team has fixed an issue that could cause major performance issues on NVIDIA’s GPUs.
Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception looks better than ever now on RPCS3. However, performance and stability still need to be improved. Metal Gear Solid 4 also runs and looks better than ever on RPCS3. However, it will be a real challenge to get close to 60fps. So, similarly to U3, RPCS3 still needs more optimizations for MGS4.
The latest version of RPCS3 also fixes major graphical issues in games like Demon’s Souls, God of War 3 and Fuse. Speaking of Fuse, the game is fully playable now on RPCS3, and there is also a 60fps patch for it.
It’s also worth noting that the RPCS3 team has added a new feature to the emulator. Right now, PC gamers can enable an in-game overlay. Via this overlay, you can enable Anisotropic Filtering, set the game’s framerate, and even enable a Performance Overlay. This is a cool new feature, so kudos to the team.

psOff is a new PlayStation 4 emulator that can run a few games
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/psoff-is-a-new-playstation-4-emulator-that-can-run-a-few-games/
And here comes a new challenger. Last week, a brand new PlayStation 4 emulator surfaced online, called psOff. Created by SysRay and VKokielov, this PS4 emulator appears to run a few, relatively simple, games. However, it’s still nowhere close to what some other PS4 emulators can achieve.
As SysRay noted, psOff renders decently fast right now. The emulator can run Sonic Mania Plus with 1449fps, Worms W.M.D with 234fps and Blackhole with 32fps. So, pretty good results for a new PlayStation 4 emulator.
This is the sixth PS4 emulator that is currently in development. The other five are fpPS4, Spine, RPCSX, Kyty and GPCS4. From these, the most advanced right now appears to be Spine. The second most promising PS4 emulator is fpPS4. RPCSX, the PS4 emulator from the creators of RPCS3, is in third place. At least in my opinion.
What you should keep in mind is that all of these PlayStation 4 emulators are unable to run complex 3D games. So no, don’t expect to be playing Bloodborne on PC anytime soon. In fact, fpPS4 managed to launch Bloodborne and ran with… 1-3fps. Maaaaaaaarvelous (only T8 fans will get it).
>> The article has three screenshots about the three emulated games mentioned, and confirming the 1449fps for Sonic Mania that I thought was a typo.

Nintendo 3DS emulator Lime rises from the ashes of Citra
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/nintendo-3ds-emulator-lime-rises-from-the-ashes-of-citra/
Citra used to be the top Nintendo 3DS emulator for PC. However, Citra was canceled after Nintendo shut down Yuzu. After all, the team responsible for it was the same that was working on Yuzu. Luckily, though, a new emulator called Lime has emerged from Citra’s ashes. So, let’s take a closer look at it.
According to its description, Lime is the world’s most popular, open-source, Nintendo 3DS emulator. The emulator is written in C++ with portability in mind. Right now, builds are actively maintained for Windows, Linux, Android, and macOS. So yes, you can use it to turn your mobile into a 3DS console.
From the looks of it, this is a fork of Citra. As such, it will run all the games that were compatible with it. It will also inherit the problems and issues that the latest build of Citra had.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion just got a must-have HD Texture Pack

Modder ‘GBRPluss’ has released an HD Texture Pack for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion that overhauls all of its landscape textures. This is a must for everyone who wants to replay this classic TES game. So, be sure to download it.
To showcase the new textures, GBRPluss shared the following comparison screenshots. And, I’ll be honest here. This appears to be one of the best AI-powered HD Texture Packs I’ve seen. The new modded textures look WAY better than the vanilla ones. You can also immediately spot the differences. You won’t have to zoom in to find the changes.

Mechs are here! Helldivers 2 players liberate Tien Kwan blisteringly fast to get their hands on the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/third-person-shooter/mechs-are-here-helldivers-2-players-liberate-tien-kwan-blisteringly-fast-to-get-their-hands-on-the-exo-45-patriot-exosuit/
The latest Helldivers 2 major order is complete—and they weren't kidding, Tien Kwan was really churning out those suckers before it got invaded.
Turns out these mechs were ready to go a little while back. The moment players finished liberating Tien Kwan from the Automaton menace, the EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit became available to unlock in the game. It costs a whopping 20,000 requisition slips, but I reckon that's a small price to pay for freedom (and mechs). It also requires level 25, so our cadets will be waiting a little while longer.
>> Unfortunately, people rushed to try them and that made the servers suffer.

The sequel to Valiant Hearts has finally come to PC after more than as a year as a Netflix exclusive
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/the-sequel-to-valiant-hearts-has-finally-come-to-pc-after-more-than-as-a-year-as-a-netflix-exclusive/
I really liked Valiant Hearts—more than our reviewer, who found it "visually stunning but mechanically lacklustre." (…)
I was understandably disappointed, then, when Ubisoft released the sequel, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home, as a mobile game available exclusively via Netflix. (…)
As of today, I don't have to. More than a year after its release on Netflix, Valiant Hearts: Coming Home is now available on PC, and consoles if that's how you roll. The new (to us) game features a structure similar to the original, telling the interconnected stories of four characters in the dying days of the war: James, a member of the Harlem Hellfighters; Ernst, a German diver; George, a British flyer; and the nurse Anna, returning from the first game. The German Army medical dog Walt is also back, to lend a hand (paw, I suppose) with puzzles and exploration.

Before Dusk HD ballooned into a full overhaul of the game's graphics, it was meant to be a companion piece to an oft-requested feature for the beloved 2018 boomer shooter: a full software development kit (SDK) for modders to run wild with, alongside Steam Workshop support for those mods.
"You see what people do with Skyrim," New Blood boss Dave Oshry said in a recent interview. "If there's not anime big tiddy waifus in Dusk by the time we're done with the SDK, then we haven't done it right.

The developers of Unsighted are making a 3D metroidvania that looks anime as all get-out
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/the-developers-of-unsighted-are-making-a-3d-metroidvania-that-looks-anime-as-all-get-out/
Pixel Punk is the Brazilian indie studio behind Unsighted, a 2021 metroidvania with a ticking death clock I thought was pretty swell. Actually, you know what they call metroidvanias in Japan? Well, they call them metroidvanias, but they also call them search-action games. Let's just go with that for the rest of this article, see how it feels.
Abyss X Zero is an upcoming search-action game set in a 3D world that apparently has "enormous dungeons and stylish combat". It looks a bit Zelda and a bit Kill la Kill, with two protagonists who do not seem to get along. Apparently they're called Codename A and Codename Z, "both legendary heroes with unique abilities that change how you fight and interact with the environment."

Blast goblins in a cave in the demo for stylish, roguelike shooter Sulfur
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/blast-goblins-in-a-cave-in-the-demo-for-stylish-roguelike-shooter-sulfur/
Upcoming indie shooter Sulfur has you taking roguelike shots at an ever-shifting labyrinth of beasties, goblins, ghouls, and baddies as a gun-toting priest with a talking amulet and a drive for revenge. It's a cool cel-shaded mix of old-school shooter and roguelike with a bit of platforming thrown in for good measure.

Look, I'm aware that the phrase "indie RPG set in early modern Hungary" sounds almost excruciatingly arch and high-falutin', but for your own sake, don't touch that dial—Felvidek has the juice. I was already excited for this singular-looking JRPG-style project, but after making my way through its ~45-minute demo, I'm here to say it's a must-play.

After four years of the usual suspects harvesting upvotes by whining about the absence of Versus mode and how they'd been lied to, it was finally confirmed as still being in the works last year, with the announcement of a closed alpha test. That closed alpha is now complete, and has been followed by an open alpha anyone can join directly from the Vermintide 2 main menu.

PUBG announces continued crackdowns on cheaters, user-generated content, a move to Unreal Engine 5, and the possibility of digging a hole like a chicken-hungry moleman

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) isn't quite the genre-leading giant it was back in 2017, where it led the charge in a genre so successful it spawned a whole busses full of imitators, including Fortnite's Battle Royale later in the same year. Still, it's been getting steady updates, and its move to a free-to-play model in 2022 has kept it trucking along nicely bar some major problems with cheaters.
Krafton's latest 2024 roadmap video includes a host of announced changes, including the very exciting possibility that you'll be able to dig a hole. Maybe. As part of a plan to introduce "vibrant gameplay experiences", which I assume are preferable to dull gameplay experiences, Krafton says that destructible environments are coming to PUBG.

All depends on how much gaming you do away from your primary residence. I'd personally invest in a good desktop before a good laptop but I do most of my gaming at home after work or on the weekends.

This answer will come as generic, but here it is: only you knows your needs and what setup is better for you. Both desktop and laptop are valid options and will give you lots of hours of gaming, but if the portability of a laptop is a bonus, then go for it.

Besides, the needs you have now may change by the time you upgrade so, don't overthink it.

In July 2023, the modding team behind the Dark Souls 3 prequel mod, Dark Souls: Archthrones, claimed that a demo of it would be released in September 2023. And, as you may have guessed, that never happened. Thankfully, though, the team has shared a new trailer now, stating that this free PC demo will be finally released on March 15th.
In Dark Souls Archthrones, players will be able to access its five worlds via the Nexus of Embers. Players will encounter numerous bosses, and they will also be able to find some allies. Additionally, the mod will have a reimagined version of Lothric and other Dark Souls locales.
Dark Souls Archthrones will also have elements from Demon’s Souls. As such, players can expect a world layout, soul form, world tendency, and more. Its dev team also plans to add many new enemies, NPC questlines and many secrets to find.

Final Fantasy 7 masterpiece mod turns Aerith Gainsborough into Aerith Gains Bro
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rpg/final-fantasy-7-masterpiece-mod-turns-aerith-gainsborough-into-aerith-gains-bro/
The best modders are people of singular vision, absolute purpose, and indefatigable ambition. Promethean thought leaders who—unbound by the petty mores of polite society and the dictates of the market—use every tool they have at hand to forge new frontiers in technology and culture.
Anyway, here's Aerith Gainsbro and Beefa.
Eagle-eyed readers might notice that these modded-up iterations of the classic Final Fantasy 7 characters are a little more muscular than usual. In fact, they're positively jacked. A pair of protein-swilling, dumbbell-curling muscle queens whose Seventh Heaven is a seven-foot barbell.
Is this technically someone's fetish content I'm writing up on this massively popular gaming website? Almost certainly, but I'm so impressed by both the models and the puns that I frankly think it's worth it to drag you all down to this level for 350 words or so.
>> Befa stands for Beef Tifa, and the article has some screenshots that show what you’re getting with this mod.

Falling Frontier's new trailer makes me want to hibernate until the RTS appears in 2025
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/rts/falling-frontiers-new-trailer-makes-me-want-to-hibernate-until-the-rts-appears-in-2025/
Out of all the RTS settings we've seen over the years, space remains, for me, absolutely the most thrilling. Ever since Homeworld got its hooks in me over 20 years ago, I've never lost the craving for big spaceship battles in the uncaring void of space. Falling Frontier, then, is very much my kinda thing, but it's approaching things quite differently when compared to the Relic classic, as is clear from the latest (extremely meaty) trailer.

Final Fantasy 16 producer Naoki Yoshida—better known to fans as Yoshi-P—says the PC version of the game is now in the "final stages" of the optimization process, but warned that while exact system requirements haven't yet been nailed down, they'll like be a little on the high side.

CoD Zombies-inspired wave survival shooter Hellbreach: Vegas is finally out in early access after a ton of previews and playtests, and the co-op shooter is a fantastic get for its $9 launch promotional price—it's also a nice throwback in its business model too, with all cosmetics and unlockables in the game gated entirely by gameplay unlocks, with no paid skins or battle pass in sight.

Ghostbusters cosmetics are coming to Destiny 2 next week because Sony owns 'em both and that's how these things work

Some Destiny 2 crossovers make sense. Mass Effect? Sure, it's a natural fit. The Witcher? Hey, some of Geralt's fashion works nicely with the Space Knight aesthetic.  Assassin's Creed, okay, that one was a bit of a stretch but Hunters and cloaks, I guess. But Ghostbusters? I have to admit I struggle to see where that one came from, but yup, it's happening.

Games industry should be 'less cautious,' says maker of experimental game about exploring a swimming pool dimension
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/adventure/games-industry-should-be-less-cautious-says-maker-of-experimental-game-about-exploring-a-swimming-pool-dimension/
Upcoming game Pools looks similar to other games based on "The Backrooms," the creepypasta notion that you can noclip out of normal reality and into mazes of "liminal spaces" that resemble '90s office buildings or unused meeting rooms at a Marriott. In this case, though, we're trapped in a pocket dimension of pools: all square tiles, plastic chairs, and chlorinated water.
