NVIDIA Settles On $799 MSRP For The GeForce NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti

https://wccftech.com/nvidia-settles-on-799-msrp-for-the-geforce-nvidia-rtx-4070-ti/

Better than it's original $900 but still too expensive imo but that will effectively be the theme of this gen from both Nvidia and Radeon. It should at least be better priced than a 4080 since that costs around 50% more for like 20-25% performance gain. 7900XT could be with in 5-10% faster depending on the games with a good vram advantage but with slower RT, no Ai upscaling, worse power efficiency and worse drivers till AMD gets them fixed.

I'm torn with that rumored, still not confirmed, price point. On one hand, it's less than the original 4080 12GB price, which is good news, but on the other side we have Nvidia asking $800 for a xx70Ti card, and that's insane.

And the worst part is that this price makes the rumor of the 4060Ti being $500 more likely to be truth, because there's "only" a $300 gap between both, enough to fit the regular 4070.

Desktop GPU Sales Hit 20-Year Low

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/sales-of-desktop-graphics-cards-hit-20-year-low

Considering the recession and how gaming PCs don't exactly feel affordable, makes sense.

Given the above, I expect 2023 to be even worse.

I don't think value will be the theme of this generation even after all the Ampere cards sell out. Likely Blackwell will bring back value pricing assuming the mining stays dead. But with low PC sales and such, I do think most cards outside of the 4090 will get discounted unlike last generation. But a 6800XT can still be had for $500 so least RDNA 2 is excellent value compared to Nvidia/RDNA 3 pricing.

I agree that, without crypto miners buying all the available cards, stores and AIB/AICs will be forced to bring down the prices if they want sell cards. And the 6800XT may be good value in the US, not so much in the rest of the world.

Now, if AMD keeps the prices of the 7000 cards the same as the ones of the 6000 series, like their did with the 7900 models, there will be a chance to get a 7700XT card with a performance close or better than a 6800XT for those $500 or less. But that's just speculation for a product that hasn't been announced yet.

Apparently, SRAM, so basically all the cache on CPUs and GPUs, almost didn't shrink at all compared to 5nm. I think some AMD engineers saw the writing on the wall early that they moved it out of the chip and into it's own die both on the X3D CPUs and the RDNA3 GPUs.

Yeah, it already started getting apparent at 7nm, but nowhere near as obvious or bad as the "jump" to 3nm. AMD has already put them into their own individual chiplets, Intel is about to do the same with their tiles. Now the question is where NVidia is on the technology.

I finally got to the first boss in Borderlands 1 GOTY Enhanced.

I got my ass handed to me. I know I'm not good with shooters but damn, 3 on 1 boss battle was tough - I got destroyed by his dogs :(

But 2nd try, I used my Shield Turret (since I'm playing as Soldier) - and covered behind my shield turret while I sniped him from afar.

I'm a bit rusty on FPS - this is my first FPS game in what....3-4 years? Regardless had a lot of fun playing it lol

I had to look at it because I forgot about that boss... and even after that, I barely remember him. It could be a good excuse to replay the game .

Well, there has been a lot of rumors about Nvidia also going with a chiplet design, and it will happen sooner rather than later.

Wasn't Hopper supposed to be a chiplet based GPU?

There's that massive gap in performance when before it evolved more or less in tandem with the mean of transistor count and clocks (allowing for architectural changes). The 4070 Ti should have been 77% faster than the 3090 Ti by that metric but it's looking like a wash in compute and gaming.

I wonder if it could be a massive BEOL bottleneck or a huge dip in efficiency, which would be really silly... or maybe 5nm estimates are somewhat less meaningful (chip design is so automated, who knows, it might include redundant logic gates in post-design since the EUV won't pick up all of them, but that's included in the estimated count nevertheless).

December 2022 is the month of leaks. In just a month, we got the source code for Mortal Kombat 2 Arcade, as well as leaked builds of PREY 1995, and Halo 3. And the next game on the list is no other than Horizon Forbidden West.
While we won’t be sharing any links to the leaked alpha build, I’m pretty sure that most will be able to find it. This alpha build comes with a Debug Menu Unlock Code that can be unpacked with PKGEditor. Thus, modders/hackers can take a look and archive, collect and examine the game’s alpha content.

A curious little indie launched last week, a game where you sail customizable ships across a vibrantly-colored fantasy archipelago in search of ancient secrets, battling monsters and pirates while exploring new islands. Players and developers call it something between the vibes of Wind Waker and the third-person sailing combat of games like Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, both much loved in their time.

And these are the last news of the year. I hope you have a great weekend and, in case I don't see you tomorrow, I wish you a better 2023.

Well i guess that means they could be working on their own remake of CV and another remake of RE1.

They've done it with 2 and 3 and are working on a remake of the fourth one, so yes, they're most likely either working on those games or plan to do it in the near future.

Ok, guys. Other times I've asked your help when it comes to games, asking for your opinion. Now, I'll do it once again.

I've had these three games stuck in my head for a very long time, but it doesn't matter the reviews or videos I see of them, I can't make a decision one way or another.

So, I'm asking you what you think of these games, both good and bad.

  • Fallout 4_ I have a bit of experience with New Vegas, but it was the wrong game at the wrong time and it didn't work. I tried a bit of during a free weekend and it left me... I don't know, neutral, but I didn't go too far or saw too much of the game. I also have to say that I don't like too much freedom in games, because I tend to forget the point of the game and lose interest.
  • Homeworld Remastered Collection_ I like RTS games but I haven't been able to try this one, and gameplay videos don't tell much because not everybody plays strategy games the same way. Seems fun, in the way these games are, but I don't know if the third dimension makes it too complex.
  • STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order_ My biggest doubt with this one is the oposite of Fallout: games that are too linear aor have too much hand-holding become boring too fast, and this one looks to be like that. Also, I'm not a Star Wars fan. I've seen the original trilogy, and I like them, but I haven't seen any of the other movies. I only care if the game is good/fun or not, but not about how it fits the Star Wars universe or its lore nor any of that.

And well, that's it. Thanks in advance, I'll appreciate what you have to share.
