AMD compares its Radeon RX 7900 series to GeForce RTX 4080

https://videocardz.com/newz/amd-compares-its-radeon-rx-7900-series-to-geforce-rtx-4080

Not in performance mind you... Just in other aspects like Vram and Teraflops such. I must say... I haven't seen such a desperate AMD marketing for such a long time...

Well, it's difficult to compare to something that's not out yet.

Even if they have a pre-release 4080 at hand, they certainly also would have needed to sign an NDA before getting that one, so they can's share the performance of the 4080, not even simply a percentage value compared to what they have. As such, they can right now only legally compare to information that is readily available for the 4080 - like the TFlops, VRAM or power consumption, for instance.

Yea but it reeks desperation if anything. Why not wait until the 15th when we have the performance numbers as the reviews will be out a day before the actual launch. Then they would have an entire day to compare the performance of 7900XT/XTX against the 4080 before the 4080 launches. Instead all AMD has done since their event is avoid showing direct performance figures against Nvidia whether it be Lovelace or Ampere.

I really hope they'll do better next gen when it comes to RT, as this shallow increase really doesn't cut it if you want to play games with RT on. They should double the RT units per CU for starters, that would already be a huge increase and could work from there.

Yeah, they tried to steal some of NVidia's thunder here, and failed miserably at that.

Looks like the 7900 XT will be trading blows with the 4080: 56 vs 60 in Cyberpunk 2077, 83 vs 85 in Watch Dogs Legion, and 157 vs 159 in RE Village. On average it should be around 1% slower at 4K if we use a 30% perf. improvement on the 6950, based on TechPowerUp's numbers.

I still think the 7900 XT could be $100 cheaper since the value isn't that great vs. the XTX, but even then, asking $300 more just for RT seems a stretch?

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Graphics Card Review Roundup

https://videocardz.com/142934/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-graphics-card-review-roundup

https://www.techspot.com/review/2569-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080/

Keep in mind that the games are heavily CPU bottlenecked at 1440p.

Overall, the 4090 is around 30% faster in Raster against the 4080 which is around 22% faster than 3090 Ti or 31% faster than 6950XT.

In Ray Tracing, 4090 is around 40-50% faster than 4080 which is 25% faster than 3090 Ti or 138% faster than 6950XT.

But at the end of the day, while the performance is good, the pricing is not. If you truly care about RT, you need to step up to the 4090 imo. The 4080 while much more powerful than 6950XT and will be much more powerful than 7900XTX in RT, it will lose in Raster without a doubt. If the 4080 was $700, I'd be playing a different tune but both the 4080 and 7900XT are simply bad choices.

Gotham Knights gets Nude Mods for Batgirl, Nightwing and Redhood
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/gotham-knights-gets-nude-mods-for-batgirl-nightwing-and-redhood/
It’s been a while since we shared a nude mod for a triple-A game, right? Well, here we are today with the first nude mods for Gotham Knights’ Batgirl, Nightwing and Redhood.
These nude mods are currently available on NexusMods. All you have to do is visit its main section, enable the Adult filter, and search for “nude“. Batgirl has two nude mods, and we suggest using the one for Barbara’s body (as the Tifa-version has some artifacts).

The best new Batman game might be this Doom mod
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-best-new-batman-game-might-be-this-doom-mod/
I'm slightly baffled by all these Batman projects that don't have Batman in them. There's a TV show about the early life of Batman's butler, Alfred. 2019's Joker film was Batman-free. October's disappointing Gotham Knights is full of heroes, but Batman himself only shows up for the first five minutes. I know wringing every last drop from expanded superhero universes is the trendy thing right now, but I can't bring myself to care about Batman stuff that doesn't have Batman in it.
To quote Batman: "I'm Batman." If you're going to make a new Batman thing, there should be more Batman in it, not less.
So I was excited to see a new Batman game on the horizon: Batman Rogue City. And amazingly, it's a full conversion mod for Doom 2 starring the Dark Knight himself and loads of his familiar enemies.
Hard to believe, but being a mod for a game that's nearly 30 years old doesn't stop Rogue City from looking like one hell of a Batman game. In the mod you can punch crooks, use a grappling hook and stun gun, battle bosses like Mr. Freeze, Mad Hatter, Harley Quinn, and the Joker, and even drive the Batmobile through Gotham City. All in the Doom engine.

What the Golf? dev has a new VR game that turns your precious hands into wooden smacking sticks
https://www.pcgamer.com/what-the-golf-dev-has-a-new-vr-game-that-turns-your-precious-hands-into-wooden-smacking-sticks/
What if, instead of regular old human hands, your meathooks were two wooden baseball bats? That's the deep philosophical question Triband is looking to answer with its bat-themed sequel to 2020's What the Golf?

This blimp survival game's demo was so popular the devs want to 'expand the scope'
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-blimp-survival-games-demo-was-so-popular-the-devs-want-to-expand-the-scope/
Sailing over the rusted and ruined skyscrapers of post-apocalyptic Earth in a customizable airship base is an appealing idea, which is why survival game Forever Skies had such a popular demo during Steam Next Fest in October. According to developer Far From Home, over 80,000 players constructed their futuristic blimps, gathered resources, crafted gear, and went fishing for giant mutated moths in the clouds of toxic dust covering the planet.
If you were hoping to dive deeper into that devastated world this year, you're going to have to wait a little longer. Forever Skies was originally due out in early access before the end of 2022, but Far From Home announced today that release date has drifted into the first half of 2023.

God of War: Ragnarok leads The Game Awards nominations for 2022
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-game-awards-2022-nominations/
The nominees for The Game Awards 2022 have been announced, and God of War: Ragnarok leads the way with 10 nominations, including for Best Narrative, Best Performance, Best Action/Adventure, and—of course—Game of the Year.
Two games share second place in the noms-getting department, Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West, with seven each, while third place unexpectedly goes to BlueTwelve's cyber-kitty sim Stray, which drew six nominations. A Plague Tale: Requiem followed with five noms, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Immortality, Neon White, Sifu, Tunic, and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 round out the pack with three nominations each.

For the first time, Warzone is on Steam

Just a couple of days before its launch on November 16, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 has arrived on Steam and launched a pre-load option for the game, but not without sowing a bit of confusion.

The people have spoken: Sonic Frontiers is better than Elden Ring
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-people-have-spoken-sonic-frontiers-is-better-than-elden-ring/
The open world Sonic game that released last week has an 8.5 user rating on Metacritic, while the shoo-in for most GOTY awards, Elden Ring, is sitting at a 6.9. I'm afraid that means that Sonic Frontiers is actually better than Elden Ring.
That's not the only evidence that the blue blur is just plain better than the grizzled old wretches of the Lands Between. A source PC gamers may consider more reliable than Metacritic user reviewers, the Steam user reviewers, have at the time of writing awarded Sonic Frontiers an "Overwhelmingly Positive" user review average. Elden Ring's average is merely "Very Positive." Sonic Frontiers wins again. Better game! More whelming!

Fable co-creator says we have Devil May Cry to thank for the RPG's world

The original Fable could have looked very different if it wasn't for Devil May Cry. Yes, that Devil May Cry. It's an incredibly unlikely pairing, but one that co-creator Dene Carter recently cited as a driving force behind the world of Albion, changing the trajectory of Fable's universe.
