@Mantle_ The sooner they launch it the better, but if I'm honest, I don't think neither Nvidia nor Intel will bother using it. They'll just wait for DX12.

@RTDaives_ Besides what zarx has said, it's also worth knowing if you will use Windows or another OS and, if you go with Windows, if you already have it or if we must include it in your budget.

Please excuse my bad English.

You can’t ban heroes in Heroes of the Storm’s draft mode. Blizzard say this is to get players into the game faster, it “takes out part of the out-of-game experience”, and because it holds them “to a higher level” when designing and balancing their heroes.

Armikrog, Doug TenNapel and Pencil Test Studios claymation adventure game, looks good enough to eat. Unfortunately, unlike non-toxic playdough, eating it would probably give you some serious digestive problems.

Instead of stuffing it into your mouth, you can feed your hungry eyes with a trailer originally shared with Kickstarter backers.

Assuming direct control: CCP is experimenting with manual controls for EVE Online

Comment

The very first time I played EVE Online, in 2004, I was immediately bamboozled by the controls. Not because they were obtuse - though they were - but because I expected to be able to control my ship just like I could in Freespace or countless other space and flight sims, which EVE Valkyrie now employs.

CCP has observed that this is a common experience among new players, who are surprised to find that EVE’s control scheme is more tactical and automated. This has led to the designers donning their lab coats and starting up an experiment: keyboard flight controls. An opt-in beta version will hit the MMO in the Rhea mini expansion, next month.

Blizzard phase out the entire continent of Draenor to combat server issues

Comments1

The latest expansion to World of Warcraft, Warlords of Draenor, has had some major teething issues when It comes to server stability. Players have experienced long queues, disconnects and being stuck in their Garrisons shortly after launch; even my review in progress has been temporarily halted.

As Blizzard finished up a round of realm maintenances this morning, they’ve announced a big change in an effort to reduce the amount of these issues occurring. Using their phasing technology, they’ve applied it to the entire continent of Draenor.

“This will allow us to run multiple copies of Draenor simultaneously, spreading out server population” said Blizzard community manager Bashiok.

The Foreseer's Contract Dota 2 update sets the stage for a new hero: the Oracle

Comments2

A new update is on the horizon for Dota 2, and while it doesn’t promise anything concrete yet, it’s left some pretty damning evidence of a new hero coming to the game. The Oracle is a brand new hero to Dota 2; being not from the original hero roster used back in the original Warcraft III mod.

Also hinted was the new Phantom Assassin Arcana, that was voted for by the community at this year’s Dota 2 International.

You can now eat people in DayZ, but you might go slightly mad

Comments2

Would you eat another human being if you were in a zombie apocalypse? Zombie simulator, DayZ, now poses that question to its players. But the community was worried that this new feature might further promote the “kill on sight” mentality of DayZ.

The developers though are already working on that, by putting in some rather alarming consequences.

While eating cooked human flesh doesn’t have any adverse side effects (yet), eating it raw can give you a brain disease called “Kuru” (yep it's a real disease). Symptoms include uncontrollable laughing, crying, shaking and eventually, death.

Hands on with Dungeons 2

Comment

Dungeons 2 is the Tesco Corned Flakes of dungeon management games. In many ways it's fairly indistinguishable from the dungeon keeping of Dungeon Keeper, insofar as you're a keeper of a dungeon, and the dungeon that you keep is populated by minions who dig out rooms, mine for gold, research traps and fend off adventurers.

In fact, much of Dungeons 2's idea-pilfering came about because fans of Dungeons 1 demanded a more Dungeon Keeper-like experience, one that was less about looking after heroes and more about carefully managing an evil underground lair. And to developer Realmforge's credit, they've not stopped at merely emulating the Bullfrog classic, but have gone much further, adding their own RTS overworld twist.

(To close off the cereal metaphor, it’s a bit like they’ve thrown in fresh banana slices.)

Elite: Dangerous offline mode isn't going to happen; would be "unacceptably limited"

Comment

Part of the pitch for the new Elite was its central server - the home of a shared, evolving galaxy, adapting to changing economies and player-triggered events. But pledgers were also promised the option of a disconnected single player experience - a voluntary compromise that would mean the game never needed to touch base with that server.

A month before the launch of Elite: Dangerous, however, Frontier have made clear that the latter will not be an option after all.

“A fully offline experience would be unacceptably limited and static compared to the dynamic, ever unfolding experience we are delivering,” said Frontier boss David Braben.
