Monitors have been mostly stagnant for years, with the few new features that we had not leaving the high-end market, or the "gaming" products that came with a premium price.

But now we're finally seeing some of those features, like HDR, drop to mid-to-high level products and, hopefully, mainstream and then low-end in a few years.

Yeah monitors are getting decent now. So long as you choose something that fits your needs and use purposes. Things like HDR 600/1000+ hitting mid to high end are nice additions and really do enhance the experience. Heck, even lower end monitors come with HDR400 (not a huge upgrade mind) and 144hz standard now. And with 4K / high refresh rate monitors coming in strong, it looks like a good time to invest if you need a new one.

For me my endgame with would be a super fast 4K monitor with a crap load of mini-LED's and the latest specs. Sadly, we're not there yet and its prohibitively expensive atm with a huge premium over traditional edge lit ones on top of quirks of first gen releases and omissions. Will be putting my money towards one once all kinks are ironed out and reaches the sub £1000 point. Or I could look into a 42" OLED TV.. but yeah if only they made them smol lol.

Personally I wouldn't mind spending $800 USD for that LG 27 inch or even $1000 for the 32 inch. While it is IPS and as everyone knows, I have been harping on IPS panels since last year, it was mainly due to price. Last year we had a ton of 4k monitors all priced at around $2000 USD. Now we can get one with better specs than last year's IPS panels at for as low as $600 without having to worry about Burn In issues that OLED has. With the nutty performance uplift of Lovelace and RDNA 3, I think 4k Native at 100+ fps gaming on PC will be more than doable next year.

Exciting times ahead!

That LG looks decent. Yeah, the new IPS (think its Neo ones?) panels are really good and monitors are getting way better for the money.

We're finally at an age where gaming at 4K with good framerates is possible. And with better upscaling techniques 4K gaming way more accessible.. even on current mid range GPU's with DLSS and to a lesser extent FSR and TAA. With the the above for mentioned we'll be seeing some juicy FPS at 4K with the next generation of GPU's.

If I can only get ahold of one!

This is my teapot.

This is my monke. There are many like them, but these ones are mine. Started learning Blender recently. Not modeling yet (soon!), just testing out some modifiers and rendering here. Cheers.

Since when?

Empire Earth made them bigger, so you could transport less of them
