Wednesday news, part two:

Cast spells, meet witchy demons and chill to lo-fi beats with Spirit Swap's free demo
https://www.pcgamer.com/cast-spells-meet-witchy-demons-and-chill-to-lo-fi-beats-with-spirit-swaps-free-demo/
I love the laid-back vibe of match-three puzzle games, which is why Spirit Swap: LoFi Beats to Match-3 To immediately grabbed my attention. After launching a Kickstarter campaign last week, the development team Soft Not Weak has managed to already raise its goal of $75,000 in only thirty-five hours, almost a whole four weeks ahead of the campaign's end date of May 13.
The best thing about the campaign, though, is that Soft Not Week has released a free demo, showcasing how Spirit Swap plays. It's safe to say, after hours of matching symbols to its ethereal OST, it's a demo worth checking out.

Hearthstone Classic players are on the cusp of unearthing a unicorn deck no one noticed 7 years ago
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstone-classic-players-are-on-the-cusp-of-unearthing-a-unicorn-deck-no-one-noticed-7-years-ago/
Hearthstone Classic rewinds time to June 2014, when the card game was much simpler and closing a match often ended with Leeroy Jenkins smashing into our opponent's faces. You'd think most of the best decks had been found at the time...but that's not the case. A new contender that no one noticed seven years ago has emerged, and it's a class you probably wouldn't expect.

Valheim's hoe meta is over after the latest patch, and players are sad
https://www.pcgamer.com/valheims-hoe-meta-is-over-after-the-latest-patch-and-players-are-sad/
As we wrote yesterday, the latest Valhiem patch buffed Valheim's terrain modification tool, the hoe, making it somewhat mightier. The cost to raise an area of the ground by a level has been reduced from 4 stone to 2 stone. (...)
However. Along with the reduced stone cost and a new terrain system added in patch 0.150.3, many players were dismayed (if not outright annoyed) that a particular method of using the hoe had been patched out. The method, which you can see in this video from CohhCarnage, provided a shortcut to quickly and dramatically raising the level of nearby ground with a single click instead of many.

Destiny 2 players have found a way to generate infinite Legendary Shards
https://www.pcgamer.com/destiny-2-players-have-found-a-way-to-generate-infinite-legendary-shards/
Legendary Shards are a form of currency in Destiny 2, used to infuse and upgrade your weapons and gear, and purchase exotics from the snake-faced bastard Xur. Simply put, you can never have too many of 'em, which is why most players usually have their eyes open for new and more efficient ways to get it. And, as of time of writing, there's currently an exploit that was introduced with the Guardian Games event that is enabling players to generate an infinite supply.

New Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale patch fixes bugs, adds BroShep
https://www.pcgamer.com/new-baldurs-gate-and-icewind-dale-patch-fixes-bugs-adds-broshep/
Last year, Beamdog announced it was planning to update the enhanced editions of classic RPGs Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate 2, and Icewind Dale on Steam. That patch has now gone live for all three games. Version 2.6 gives them 64-bit executables for better stability, fixes hundreds of bugs, improves pathfinding, adds more player-character portraits and voice options, and throws in several additional text localizations as well.

https://www.pcgamer.com/victorian-era-ace-attorney-prequels-featuring-herlock-sholmes-are-coming-to-pc/
Capcom has announced that this year, which marks the 20th anniversary of the Ace Attorney series, The Great Ace Attorney: Adventures and The Great Ace Attorney Adventures 2: Resolve will be released in English for the first time. They'll be bundled together as The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, confirming a leak from earlier in the year when the two games were rated in Taiwan.

We need a lot more persistence like that RDR2 mod in games.

Also like the sound of a KOTOR remake. Heard great things but it's pretty dated at this point.

Remember, they may own them, but how many games have they actually played?

Also... there's a ton of free to play games on Steam.

iPad's are pretty great value (except the stupid low capacities still 32 gb and 64gb). Am using iphone and ipad right now along with pc. For phone i easily switch between android and ios but for tablets will stick to ipads if i have need for one when it comes to replacing my current one.

iPhone 12 base storage still 64gb is so bad and the biggest defenders are Apple customers. They say iphones last so long. Yea enjoy your low storage in 2026.

Since I bothered you all with this, here's what will be inside my father's new PC (sorry for the crappy pic):

I ended up going a bit over budget but only because some last minute changes from the final user. I wanted a 240GB drive but he wanted a bigger one, and he wanted a physical copy of Windows... Well, it's his money.

The specs are:

  • CPU: Intel i5-10400. Not as good as the 11400 but it's still a 6-core/12-threads part that will serve him well
  • RAM: 2x8GB 2400MHz DDR4. Not the fastest but, since it's not for games, the performance penalty will be minimal
  • Mobo: Gigabyte H410M H. Not going to lie, it was the cheapest board with an HDMI output.
  • SSD: A 480GB Crucial BX500

Total hardware cost: 349.77€

Windows is another 80€, but thankfully my brother had a spare copy of office. Apparently it's from work, they gave him a windows copy but he uses a Mac (poor loser), and they gave him a Mac version without asking the other one back.

Looks good, really cheap, incredible value! Noice

Everything looks good.

Windows is another 80€? That seems high.
