I find it amusing that you of all people take issue with Tech Jesus, but then again, you've been putting the PS5 in a better light than other desktop GPU's and basically putting AMD on the pedestal whenever it's against Nvidia, so I guess I shouldn't expect anything different with how you view GN.

I'm now actually wondering if you're here for PC gaming discussion, or you're here to just rabble on about console perf metrics on a PC board, to put down anything PC tech can do (because the way you post about AMD console tech suggests as much).

What's also a bit funny, is how you were basically using someone's video of WoW footage, that wasn't entirely concise and accurate, and Yuri pointed this out and established the inaccuracy of the test results, yet here you are decrying the test results of someone who's in a far better and more knowledgeable field than you are.

You know you can always start up your own YT channel and personally call out and challenge GN with your own findings, because I would very much love to see that happen.

I think gamersnexus just made tons of mistakes, first he thought DMC5 was running 1080p in 120fps mode when it's running fake 4k.

But the big one seems to be his tools, the minimun frame-rate he is getting is much lower than what digitalfoundry or NXgamer shows. Example is in DMC5 where he got 35fps for PS5 when it never gets that low at all, not even close.

And that's the problem, he got wrong minimun frames than he finds a gpu that beat that minimun frames.

For the rest of your comment, it's just to long to respond.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here with a 65" 4k120 OLED screen for a mere 2000. I hope the new TV offerings will do something about the ridiculous prices monitors have adopted.

They will, no doubt about that.

As more and more dedicated PC gamers switch to OLED TVs because those kinds of displays aren't available in monitors, the high-end "gaming" monitors will find themselves with no one that buys them, forcing the manufacturers to either adopt OLED, lower prices to cater a bigger audience or both.

That 31 inch is certainly in the sweet spot of 4k monitors. Too bad it's still hella expensive, especially for HDR400

I'm still surprised we haven't seen any advancements in HDR monitors by now they are all super expensive and HDR 400 is very low end and basically just SDR.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 goes free on the Epic Store next week
https://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-battlefront-2-goes-free-on-the-epic-store-next-week/
With the holidays over and a new year off to a roaring start, the Epic Games Store has returned to its usual weekly cadence of free games. The 2021 giveaways begins with Crying Suns, an FTL-inspired strategy roguelike that, when we dove into it in 2019, we quite liked in some ways, and did not care for in others.
(...)
Tales of galactic empires will continue in next week's freebie, which is a much higher-profile offering: The Star Wars Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition, which includes "the complete collection of customization content acquirable through in-game purchase," up to and including the Rise of the Skywalker update.

The Humble Store has two new sales (more or less):

Fanatical has two new deals:

Steam client beta adds extended support for PS5 and Xbox controllers
https://www.pcgamer.com/steam-client-beta-adds-extended-support-for-ps5-and-xbox-controllers/
The Steam beta client, Valve's public test branch, has just rolled out an update that offers extended support for Xbox controllers. The biggest change here is the additional support for the Xbox Elite controller, which we recently declared the best PC controller, with the ability to bind the rear paddles in controller configurations.
(...)
It's not just Xbox controllers getting some love here, though. There's a small update for PlayStation 5's DualSense controller too, allowing for LED customisation. The controller's LEDs can now either be enabled, disabled entirely, or only enabled when multiple DualSense controllers are connected to Steam.

MODS, EMULATORS & FAN PROJECTS

This Witcher 3 mod gives Geralt a snowboard to shred the slopes of Skellige
https://www.pcgamer.com/witcher-3-snowboarding-mod/
Geralt of Rivia is normally known for carving up monsters, but this new snowboard mod lets him carve something else entirely: the snowy mountains of Skellige, Velen, and Kaer Morhen. Rad.
Called Geralt VGX Snowboarder, this mod adds a snowboard that Geralt can find at an altar overlooking the bay of Kaer Trolde in Skellige. Interacting with the altar gives you a snowboard that Geralt can equip either as a sword or as boots. The video above shows it in action and, uh, I'm a little surprised by how convincing it looks?

The Friday news, part two:

Doom comes to Fall Guys on January 12
https://www.pcgamer.com/doom-comes-to-fall-guys-on-january-12/
The incredibly popular Fall Guys teased something Doom-related a while ago, and the above trailer has just dropped for the three new costumes. And for once they're pretty decent: there's a chibi Cacodemon, a winningly gormless-looking Cyberdemon, and a rather acid green shade of Doom Slayer himself. I wonder what type of Fall Guy he would be.

PUBG's new reputation system wants you to play nice
https://www.pcgamer.com/pubgs-new-reputation-system-wants-you-to-play-nice/
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has added a new reputation system in an attempt to encourage friendlier behaviour on the battlefield.
Arriving as part of patch 10.2 (currently live on the game's test servers), PUBG will soon slap a number from 0-5 next to your profile in the Team Finder, letting prospective squadmates know roughly how pleasant you are to play with. As long as you're not showing "toxic or otherwise disruptive behaviour", this number should rise steadily over the course of play as you complete matches.

Path of Exile 2 is most likely coming in 2022
https://www.pcgamer.com/path-of-exile-2-is-most-likely-coming-in-2022/
Action RPG fans eager to get their hands on Path of Exile 2 probably shouldn't hold their breath, as the ambitious sequel-expansion (see our preview here) seems unlikely to launch this year. During a phone interview about the upcoming endgame expansion for the original Path of Exile, studio head Chris Wilson got to talking about how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the New Zealand studio.

Neverwinter's next expansion returns to some of its first zones
https://www.pcgamer.com/neverwinters-next-expansion-returns-to-some-of-its-first-zones/
Free-to-play MMO Neverwinter, which is set in the popular Dungeons & Dragons campaign world of the Forgotten Realms just like Baldur's Gate, is about to get a three-part expansion. It's called Sharandar, and it'll take players back to elfy woodland areas introduced in the original Neverwinter expansion, Fury of the Feywild, only "revamped and re-visualized".

Call Of Duty: Black Ops – Cold War goes nuclear in next week's mid-season update
https://www.pcgamer.com/call-of-duty-black-ops-cold-war-goes-nuclear-in-next-weeks-mid-season-update/
Next week's mid-season update for Call Of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War is adding a dash of thermo-nuclear conflict with a new 6v6 multiplayer mode.
Arriving next Thursday, January 14, Cold War's first mid-season update was revealed alongside patch notes for yesterday's Call Of Duty patch (one that infamously didn't quite nerf Warzone's DMR hard enough). While that update added some neat twists to existing multiplayer modes, next week sees Treyarch introduce a new mode, Dropkick.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive removes bots from competitive
https://www.pcgamer.com/counter-strike-global-offensive-removes-bots-from-competitive/
Any Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player knows the sinking feeling of a teammate disconnect. As a game that takes the competitive experience seriously, CS:GO locks players into matches and punishes leavers with increasingly lengthy bans: not that this stops players leaving, or being kicked, especially after a team's lost the first couple rounds. That player is then replaced by a bot, which has terrible AI but can be taken-over by a dead player on the team.
Players have long requested various tweaks to the bots, but boy does the latest CS:GO have a surprise: it's removed them from classic competitive (5v5) and the wingman (2v2) modes entirely.

John Lin's physics sandbox returns with the best water I've ever seen
https://www.pcgamer.com/john-lins-physics-sandbox-returns-with-the-best-water-ive-ever-seen/
I'm increasingly convinced that the next big thing in games tech isn't ray-traced puddles or eye-watering 8K displays, but voxels. Laugh all you want, but go ahead and look at John Lin's captivating water up there and tell me I'm wrong, I dare you. Malindy Hetfield first spotted Lin's lush voxel forests for us last November. Since then, your man's been plugging away at the project, showing off clouds of butterflies and moody moonlit pups. But it's this week's update that really blew me away, with a dive into some absolutely staggering water physics.

And here are the GOG and Steam post Winter Sale deals for the weekend:

+GOG

+Steam

And with that, we've reached the end of the first week of news of the year. Until the second one, have a happy and gaming weekend.
