Maybe that's the card we saw with a boost clock of 2577MHz.
Also, it's worth mentioning another two points of the article:
- The drivers had issues that resulted in clock speeds that aren't consistent. Those issues should be fixed by the time the cards launch.
- Those 289W are NOT for the whole card, just the GPU. The final number is much higher than that as the capture from IGOR's Lab shows:
That said, there's also a 255W variant, so maybe the one with the higher consumption is just for heavy overclocking, like the 3080 cards with a 420W power limit.
