Tim Schafer would love to make Brutal Legend 2, but it probably won’t ever happen

Comment

Master of adventure Tim Schafer has been having a little chat with Edge this week, and talk soon got round to Brutal Legend, Double Fine’s best selling yet polarising heavy metal ‘em up. Despite being at the end of some acidic opinions due to the game’s odd/interesting use of RTS elements, Schafer would still love to return to his rocker universe for a second outing. One that would still involve real time strategy, too.

Don’t hold your breath though, it’s not likely to happen without $30million landing in Schafer's lap. Don’t mention Kickstarter, either.

DayZ update to hit this month, contains fireplaces, archery, and pistols

Comment

A new post at the DayZ dev blog has detailed that a patch with significant additions is on it’s way to Steam “sometime this month”. A lot of what is coming will be pushed into experimental servers first in order to gather player feedback, and will eventually graduate to public servers.

In your zombie-infested future lies fireplaces that burn, heads that turn, and a fancy new pistol for you to blast holes in people with.

Mojang prep for one of Minecraft's "most requested features since birth": name changes

Comment

One of the consequences of Minecraft’s folksy roots as a blocky prototype on TIGsource is that huge swathes of its infrastructure weren’t exactly built for, say, massively multiplayer persistent worlds.

One of those underperforming systems has been character names - which since the game’s inception have been tied to bannings. That meant that allowing name changes was tantamount to handing griefers diamond pickaxes and a complimentary bag of TNT.

Thankfully, Mojang have now just about finished a database rework that’ll soon let players switch identities without placing servers at risk.

Kingdom Under Fire II – Gameplay Movie of City and Field

Blueside released last week a new trailer for Kingdom Under Fire II, showing off some gameplay footage, that passed under our radar. Shame on us. Kingdom Under Fire II is a RTS and RPG hybrid that has been under development for quite sometime. The game looks cute and has nice boobs physics, but you can easily notice that: a) it’s powered by Unreal Engine 3 (it appears the game is powered by FAME Tech 2. Kudos to the devs for making the game look like an UE3-brownish title… I guess) and b) it looks similar to most multi-platform titles. Still, Kingdom Under Fire II seems fun, so go ahead and watch this new gameplay trailer! Continue reading

I'm speachless... and I'm also torn between this two reactions.

or

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

That reminds me I haven't posted a GIF in ages, here is a quick one i just whipped up

So my dear master race I summon you to help a fellow peasant!

So I recently bought a new laptop, and wanted to work on some titles that skipped PS3/PS4. All is cool and dandy, but since I've bought it, I was questioning whether 4GB of RAM is enough (my other components aren't but I can't upgrade them so there you go), especially since Windows 8.1 is apparently eating up 49% of my 3,88 disposable memory.
So I tried some games, Alan Wake, Metro 2033, Crysis 2 and everything is cool. But then I launched SWTOR and Planetside 2 and BAM! I'm on my desktop with a Windows message recommending to shut some apps cause I'm running out of memory, I check the task manager and my memory usage is at 3,4-3,7 GBs.

So here comes the question. I have a spare memory slot, I want to upgrade my RAM. I couldn't find another same stick as mine. What should I look at so the new stick would be paired and working perfectly? Motherboard compatibility, frequency, timings, voltage, manufacturer? What is important what is not? Is it OK to combine 4 + 2 gig sticks (I assume yes) cause I think 6GBs would close the deal.
Or would it be better if I sold my current stick and get a better 4GBs one like for example with an CL9 instead of a CL11 at 1600 MHz frequency, would I see a difference in game performance with better timings?

The less specialized language you use the better appriciate all the help!

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

I'm not to familiar with laptops but if DDR works how it does on desktops you would preferably want a matched pair. But considering it apparently came with one I guess it may use single channel memory, in which case it wouldn't matter if you used different sizes. I would need to do more research on that, what is the model of the laptop?

4GB should meet the minimum requirements of those games. But laptops do often used shared memory for graphics so that could be lowering the actual usable amount considerably.

Sony Vaio Svf1521h1eb.

Intel i3-3227u, GT 740m Gk208, Hynix HSTC2G83CFR PBA 248V, don't remember the mobo model, will check that later.

Edit. And yeah the 740m uses DDR3 so I assume it uses it shared from the 4GB pool.

@eFKac: I don't know much about laptops, but when pairing RAM sticks, the usual things to look at are the speed and latency (meaning that both sticks "should" be 1600MHz and CL11 or whatever are the values of your current RAM).

That or simply go and get a single stick with 8GB of RAM .

And I would go for quantity over speed, 8GB 1333MHz better than 4GB 1866MHz.

Haha I forgot that the master race are not gaming on laptops anyway thanks for the answers, if you would learn anything more, please share! Peace.

The only thing I know about laptop parts is that even if they use the same "name" as the desktop parts, they are usually one gen older.

That and that they come with 2.5" HDD (instead of the 3.5" HDD found on desktops) and that the RAM modules are smaller and called SO-DIMM.

... And that's about all I know .
