4GB should meet the minimum requirements of those games. But laptops do often used shared memory for graphics so that could be lowering the actual usable amount considerably.

Intel i3-3227u, GT 740m Gk208, Hynix HSTC2G83CFR PBA 248V, don't remember the mobo model, will check that later.

Edit. And yeah the 740m uses DDR3 so I assume it uses it shared from the 4GB pool.
