I'm not to familiar with laptops but if DDR works how it does on desktops you would preferably want a matched pair. But considering it apparently came with one I guess it may use single channel memory, in which case it wouldn't matter if you used different sizes. I would need to do more research on that, what is the model of the laptop?
4GB should meet the minimum requirements of those games. But laptops do often used shared memory for graphics so that could be lowering the actual usable amount considerably.
