Hey, I would like more PC-games rising to the top-ranks in the yearly greatest game event on VGC. Preferable old DOS-games (as this is my jam). Anyways, consider participating to influence the results towards PC: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=241130

Also this list of PC-games from last time is too short.

PC list looked quite large back then. Not sure our voting combined us going to make much of a difference on here though. It's mostly console centred.

Well yes, VGC is indeed console-centric. But such preferences can shift, and such public presentation of games as in the event might help. My list personally contains both PC-games (especially from DOS-times) and console-games. But I would not dislike more balance with inclusion of more PC-games. So I would be excited if a more diverse spectrum of gamers with different tastes would participate.

https://www.pcgamer.com/pathologic-2-dlc-is-out-next-week-free-for-owners-of-the-base-game/
Pathologic is kind of an oddball cult favorite around here (with some of us, at least) and so it was disappointing to hear that sales of Pathologic 2 were poor enough to throw the future of the game, including planned second and third chapters, into doubt. In August, developer Ice-Pick Lodge committed to free-with-an-asterisk DLC instead, a "polished and optimized version of what was once Pathologic 2's demo" called The Marble Nest while it continued to try to work things out for the remainder of the full game.

The thing is basically every video only exists to promote something. And by that I don't mean the video sponsors or the merch store mentions. I mean every video he does basically only exists because some company wants to promote their new product and sends it to him, which makes every single video in itself an ad. An ad that is filled with more ads for other things.

You could say the same about all the tech sites given that they also recieve the hardware for free from the manufacturers.

Except they also do other cool stuff. Also the good sites label their articles as ads if they are. Linus gets around it in a sly way which I can't assume is entirely ethical. I mean I'm gonna continue to watch it because it's informational but I will never be able to shed the feeling that I'm watching an ad. Which is probably a good thing.

Borderlands 3 has sold an estimated 3.3 million digital units across all platforms
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/borderlands-3-has-sold-an-estimated-3-3-million-digital-units-across-all-platforms/
SuperData Arcade has shared its monthly report, stating that Borderlands 3 has sold an estimated 3.3 million digital units across all platforms. According to the report, the average selling price per unit came in at an above-average $69 due to Deluxe Edition sales.
Moreover, Borderlands 3 was the second highest grossing PC game in September. The game that topped SuperData Arcade’s charts was Dungeon Fighter Online. League of Legends was in the third place, whereas Fortnite was in the ninth place.
Speaking of Fortnite, SuperData claims that September was its worst month to date. SuperData estimates that Fortnite revenue across all platforms declined 43% month-over-month in September. Thus, this marks the worst performing month of revenue since November 2017.
Lastly, it appears that NBA2K and FIFA’s latest releases were slow out of the gate. In-game spending for the NBA2K franchise grew only 6% in September. On the other hand, the FIFA franchise declined slightly year-over-year due to an unfavorable comparison against World Cup after-effects last year.

According to the modders, the responses are all voiced by using the original voice files of the game. Furthermore, the new options are meant to feel like they should have been in the game all along. As such, even the fans of the vanilla game will find this mod interesting and cool.

The Colonel Sanders dating sim was one of Steam's biggest releases for September

With September now a few weeks behind us, Valve has compiled a list of the 20 biggest new games of that month. As always, because it doesn't provide actual sales figures, the list is chronological, but Valve, being Valve, doesn't send these things out without a few interesting bits of trivia for background.
Eight of the games in the list are either entering or leave Early Access, demonstrating that it "continues to be a unique and valuable option for creating a product with involvement and feedback from the community," and nine of them— Green Hell, Gears 5, Session, Ni no Kuni, Crying Suns, Noita, Flotsam, Cube World and Maelstrom—are from developers launching games on Steam for the first time, although it's maybe a little disingenuous to lump Gears 5 and Ni No Kumi together with games like Crying Suns and Noita, .

The end result is cool and I’m pretty sure that a lot of Fallout 4 will appreciate this mod. Do note that this mod is not complete yet, meaning that there will be some bugs here and there. Still, the modder aims to add more animations via future releases.

Players are re-writing Borderlands 3 one sight gag at a time thanks to a minor modding discovery. While the real guts of the game aren't easily accessible, Gearbox appear to have left their pre-rendered cutscenes (used in overlays and on video-screens in game) in plain old MP4 video format, letting you simply replace them with whatever tickles your funnybone. Unsurprisingly, things got weird, fast, starting with "Dooger" on Twitter testing the waters with a bizarre russian Shrimp rave.

https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-details-the-stuff-coming-in-destiny-2s-latest-festival-of-the-lost-event/

This year will see the return of Eva Levante as the herald of the event, which will feature spooky decorations all over the Tower, the return of the Haunted Forest activity, and the Braytech Werewolf, a 950 power Halloween-themed version of the Braytech Winter Wolf Legendary auto rifle.

Set on a "spooky, reworked, Frankenstein version" of the Theme Park map, the mode will pit a team of five Exterminators against a squad of five Monsters, with special rewards for kills, wins, and one for just showing up.

Elite: Dangerous delays Fleet Carrier launch to mid-2020
https://www.pcgamer.com/elite-dangerous-delays-fleet-carrier-launch-to-mid-2020/
In August, Frontier Development announced that massive Fleet Carriers with the ability to travel great distances and serve as refueling and refitting stations for smaller ships would be added to Elite: Dangerous in December. That plan has now changed, however, as Frontier has shifted its focus for the remainder of the year, and beyond, to fixing bugs.

Some kind of Dying Light/Left 4 Dead 2 crossover appears to be coming
https://www.pcgamer.com/some-kind-of-dying-lightleft-4-dead-2-crossover-appears-to-be-coming/
It's been longer than you think since Left 4 Dead 2 came out, and if you don't believe me, chew on this: Ten years have passed since Coach, Nick, Rochelle, and Ellis first blazed their way across the Infected wasteland. That's right, a full-on decade—you didn't see that coming, did you? I can barely believe it myself.
Sadly, despite all that time gone by there's still no sign out of Valve that Left 4 Dead 3 is something that will ever actually happen. But it seems like something is happening—in that other first-person zombie game, Dying Light.

Age of sail FTL-like Abandon Ship leaves Early Access
https://www.pcgamer.com/age-of-sail-ftl-like-abandon-ship-leaves-early-access/
After 20 months in Early Access, Abandon Ship is entering version 1.0 and sailing into full release. It's a game of krakens, lightning storms, and pirates that's a bit like a cross between FTL and Sunless Sea, although with a mercifully much faster ship than the latter game.

The Long Dark's third episode is out now
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-long-darks-third-episode-is-out-now/
After a long delay—it was initially scheduled for release in December of 2018—the third episode of The Long Dark's narrative Wintermute mode is out now. It's called Crossroads Elegy, and it has players, now in the role of new protagonist Dr. Astrid Greenwood, exploring Pleasant Valley to "uncover local mysteries and rescue lost survivors as you navigate treacherous blizzards and face devious Timberwolves". From the trailer, it seems like there's going to be a lot of those wolves.

Kingdom Under Fire 2 finally arrives on November 14
https://www.pcgamer.com/kingdom-under-fire-2-finally-arrives-on-november-14th/
I've been following the development of Kingdom Under Fire 2 since long before I started writing about games. First announced in 2008, it was originally intended to be a flagship game for the Xbox 360 in 2009. An ambitious Warhammer-inspired hybrid of high fantasy MMO, RTS and Dynasty Warriors-style hack n' slash action, putting Korean studio Blueside on the map once more.
Clearly, things didn't quite work out. After a decade of development hell and several attempts at free-to-play launches around the world ending in server shutdowns, new publisher Gameforge hope to give it one more go. Launching in English for the first time on November 14, Kingdom Under Fire 2 will now be a retail game priced at £26.99/€29.99/$29.99, though it's still an MMO, and there will still be (mostly cosmetic) microtransactions available after launch.

Borderlands 2 VR is off to a rough start on PC
https://www.pcgamer.com/borderlands-2-vr-is-off-to-a-rough-start-on-pc/
Borderlands 3 might be the talk of the town in looter-shooter circles, but Gearbox are taking Borderlands 2 out for one last victory lap on PC with Borderlands 2 VR, released today. Originally a PlayStation VR game, it has made its way back to PC as a full-priced re-release (comparable to Fallout 4 and Skyrim's VR ports) letting you play through the entirety of the RPG shooter in virtual reality, minus multiplayer support.
At least, that's what it should do, but if you don't have an Oculus Rift S or similar you might have a rough time, as owners of other headsets are reporting issues with the game at the moment.
