I hope you like it! And, if you want, feel free to share with us how you find New California.

I played another 2 hours. I'm surprised that it is so linear (for a Fallout game). I expected that it will be a big open map but so far it is not like that - you are taken from one smaller hub to another and you can breeze through them if you want. Lots of replay value which is surprising too for a fan project.

Just Cause 4 and Hitman 2 will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/just-cause-4-and-hitman-2-will-be-using-the-denuvo-anti-tamper-tech/
Square Enix and Warner Bros have just updated the Steam store pages for Just Cause 4 and Hitman 2, revealing that these two highly anticipated games will be using the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. And to be honest, we are not surprised at all as both of these companies have been using this tech in all of their latest titles.
Just Cause 4 will be an open-world title whereas Hitman 2 will feature big areas with a huge crowd. As such, it will be interesting to see whether these games will not mess things up with their Denuvo implementation.
It’s also worth pointing out that IO Interactive had removed Denuvo from the first Hitman as soon as it got the IP rights from Square Enix. Unfortunately, though, it appears that its inclusion in Hitman 2 is something that the new publisher, Warner Bros, forced (we are merely guessing here, unless IO Interactive also plans to remove Denuvo when and if Hitman 2 gets cracked).

Kongregate's digital storefront Kartridge is now open for everyone
https://www.pcgamer.com/kongregates-digital-storefront-kartridge-is-now-open-for-everyone/
Kartridge, the Kongregate digital storefront that was announced earlier this year, is now in open beta. More than 250 games are currently available on the platform, which Kongregate said will offer "compelling community features [and] substantive rewards" including Kartridge Tokens that can be put toward new game purchases.
The platform features user reviews and game ratings, but Kongregate is aiming for a much greater focus on curation and moderation than what you'll encounter on certain other platforms. (You know who I'm talking about.) Chat rooms employ a system of "sentiment-based automated moderation," which may or may not be very effective (everyone is being really nice right now so it's hard to tell) but will hopefully at least keep the worst behavior to a minimum, and Kongregate said it will continue to make efforts "to keep its communities safe and fun."
As it's a beta, you're likely to run into bits of wonkiness here and there—there's no way to get out of the new user registration screen without exiting the program entirely, for instance. But overall it seems pretty smooth and well-built, and more alternatives to Steam are always welcome. Check it out for yourself at kartridge.com.

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/super-mario-odyssey-is-fully-playable-from-start-to-finish-on-the-nintendo-switch-emulator-yuzu/
A few days ago, we informed you about some major emulation improvements for Super Mario Odyssey on the Nintendo Switch emulator, Yuzu. And today, we are happy to report that this triple-A Switch exclusive title is fully playable, from start to finish, on its latest version.
It’s seriously incredible what the Yuzu team has managed to achieve here as Yuzu has been under development for less than a year. Now there are still some minor graphical glitches and there is a performance hit in some areas but overall the game can be finished without major issues.

Fallout New California patch 2.0.3 released, fixes hundreds of bugs and improves performance
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/fallout-new-california-patch-2-0-3-released-fixes-hundreds-of-bugs-and-improves-performance/
The team behind the amazing Fallout New California mod for Fallout: New Vegas has released a brand new patch for it that fixes hundreds of bugs and improves performance, crashes, and many other bugs.
In case you weren’t aware of, Fallout: New California adds an all new story around a new player character, an adopted resident of Vault 18, embarking on a journey through the wastelands of the New California Republic’s Cajon Pass. This mod is described as an unofficial prequel to New Vegas that adds hours of new gameplay and a fully voiced stand alone campaign.
Going into slightly more details, patch 2.0.3 fixes hundreds of records, and features textures with a different form of compression and new mipmaps. This new compression improved overall performance, though the team is still looking into further improving things.

Doom 2 mod Total Chaos is a remarkable survival horror total conversion
https://www.pcgamer.com/doom-2-mod-total-chaos-is-a-remarkable-survival-horror-total-conversion/
Total Chaos is a Doom 2 mod that runs on the GZDoom source port. It drops you into coal mining country on a spooky island where everything is definitely fine and monster-free.
It looks incredible, and shows how far modders can stretch GZDoom. We covered the early screenshots and videos years ago, but it's finally out, and should be the perfect post-Halloween treat if you have Doom 2, GZDoom and 2.59 GB of space on your hard drive.
The mod features six chapters, eight enemy types and a bunch of guns. Ammo is hard to come by, however. According to the mod's creator "you will mostly be relying on tireirons, pickaxes, shivs, and garden tools" to bludgeon enemies to death. You can craft them and upgrade them throughout the campaign.

Pete Hines apologizes for Fallout 76 beta download issue, says it won't be 'the last bump on the road'
https://www.pcgamer.com/pete-hines-apologizes-for-fallout-76-beta-download-issue-says-it-wont-be-the-last-bump-on-the-road/
During Bethesda's stream of the Fallout 76 beta on Tuesday (from Australia), Pete Hines was asked how the beta was going. "Ask a PC person how it's going today," he replied. "Not particularly fine."
(...)
"Apologies to anyone who had to download that stuff," said Hines. "But, you know, I'm here to tell you: it's not going to be the last bump on the road. And hopefully we continue to smooth those out, but that is in fact the whole point of doing this beta, is to find those things and see if we can't resolve them, while also letting people just have fun and enjoy the game."

"After the flop—BAM—they're dead before they even had a chance to cast anything". Richard Garfield describes the pain of losing a hero in Valve's upcoming digital card game, Artifact. EA reveals all of Anthem's ultimate abilities
https://www.pcgamer.com/ea-reveals-all-of-anthems-ultimate-abilities/
A new Anthem update takes a look at the ultimate abilities of Javelins, the heavily-armed, highly-mobile suits of power armor that players will slip into before venturing out into the dangerous game world.
Ultimates are powerful special abilities that players can wheel out when situations get particularly hairy. It's a fairly common multiplayer mechanic, and it doesn't sound like Anthem will stray too far from the well-established basics: Ultimate abilities hit hard but must be charged up before use, a relatively slow process that can be hastened by taking down enemies, assisting allies, or equipping certain items.

Videogames, broadly speaking, handle dongs in one of two ways: There's randomization, such as in Rust, and there's the user selectable, as seen in Conan Exiles. The multiplayer survival game Scum will be taking the latter approach in its upcoming Wild Hunter update, which will enable players to customize their wangs using the same attribute points that determine strength, stamina, and intelligence.

Someone is working on a Halo fan remake in Unreal Engine 4
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/someone-is-working-on-a-halo-fan-remake-in-unreal-engine-4/
YouTube’s ‘Sergiu Daniel’ is currently working on a fan remake of the first Halo game in Unreal Engine 4. While this project is still at a very early stage, Daniel released a video showing the progress that he has made so far.
In its current version, this remake allows players to equip Masterchief with all the weapons and supports proper firing mechanics. There aren’t any enemies and I’m pretty sure there aren’t any levels yet (apart from this WIP level showcased here). So yeah, and as I said, this is at a really early stage.

Jurassic Park Trespasser fan remake is being developed in Crytek’s CRYENGINE
https://www.dsogaming.com/articles/jurassic-park-trespasser-fan-remake-is-being-developed-in-cryteks-cryengine/
Trespasser, the Jurassic Park PC first-person action adventure game that relied heavily on physics, has turned 20 years old and in order to celebrate it, we’ve decide to inform you about a fan remake that is being developed in Crytek’s CRYENGINE.
Titled Trespassing and created by a single developer, this fan remake aims to recreate the entire game in a brand new engine. From what we’ve seen, the remake will feature some new assets and some that were used in the original game (take for example some of the trees that are straight from the 1998 game). Trespassing has been under development for a few years and while its developer is still working on it, development itself is not progressing at a steady pace. As such, we don’t know when and if this fan remake will come out. Back in August, its creator stated that the project is not dead, though he has very little free time to dedicate to it.

Deus Ex: Revision Mod 1.4.0.1 is now available for download, brings lots of improvements & fixes
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/deus-ex-revision-mod-1-4-0-1-is-now-available-for-download-brings-lots-of-improvements-fixes/
Caustic Creative has released a brand new version of its overhaul mod for the original Deus Ex, Revision. In case you weren’t aware of, Deus Ex: Revision is a large-scale re-imagining of the world of Deus Ex, bringing a tightly integrated aesthetic-oriented approach to the original gameplay.
According to the release notes, version 1.4.0.1 fixes the subtitles incorrectly being displayed offscreen when playing at a 16:9 resolution, fixes some really bad doors, doors with gaps wider than was required or doors clipping into walls and being visible from outside in the Training area, and improves framerate in Versalife.
In addition, this new version adds a light to the spydrone which can be activated with the light aug, an option to change handedness to left/right/hidden, prevents the player from dying while quickloading, and fixes numerous bugs and issues.

Fallout 4 Wasteland Illumination Mod adds 1380 lights to 763 light sources in Boston Commonwealth
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/fallout-4-wasteland-illumination-mod-adds-1380-lights-to-763-light-sources-in-boston-commonwealth/
Modder ‘Thaylar’ has released a new version of his Wasteland Illumination mod for Fallout 4. This mod is described as a street lamp illuminations galore, adding 1380 lights to approximately 763 light sources throughout the Boston Commonwealth.
Version 0.9 of the Wasteland Illumination mod comes with complete lighting street lamps in Boston and the area south, meaning that the entire Boston Commonwealth should be lit now. Not only that, but the modder has also edited 1388 records in the CK to make all lights turn off/on with day/night cycles.
Furthermore, Thaylar has pulled the billboard lights from the mod for better compatibility with Illuminated Billboards as glowing billboards don’t need external lighting and has implemented minor tweaks to flickering lights, and radius of the sparking lights.

Fallout 76 players are already modding the beta
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-players-are-already-modding-the-beta/
Bethesda said in June that it was "100 percent committed" to Fallout 76 mod support, but not until some time after launch. It appears some inventive players didn't get the memo, because mods for the beta version have already started popping up on Nexus Mods.
There are only 13 in total, but they include mods that will spray your hair any colour you like, such as luminous green, or dye your blue vault jumpsuit black and add a yellow trim (see the image above).
Some of the mods replace images in the menus with snaps taken from various Fallout 76 trailers, while others replace menu audio with custom music, such as an acoustic version of the Fallout theme tune. You'll also find a texture replacement mod for Nuka Cola bottles and another mod that removes Bethesda's default start-up logo.

This new PT remake on PC is eerily close to the real thing
https://www.pcgamer.com/this-new-pt-remake-on-pc-is-eerily-close-to-the-real-thing/
A new PC remake of PT has emerged that captures the original game's haunted, looping corridor. Made by Artur Łączkowski and released on itch.io, I just played three cycles of it, and while it's not an exact replica of Konami's horror 'demo', at times it feels like it is.

Monday news, part two:

Undertale creator answers questions about his mysterious new project
https://www.pcgamer.com/undertale-creator-answers-questions-about-his-mysterious-new-project/
Undertale creator Toby Fox released a free, rather odd game yesterday called Deltarune, which those of you who are cleverer than I will notice is an anagram of Undertale. And it is, as Samuel put it, "familiarly Undertale-y." But what is it, actually? That was less clear, and Fox himself didn't help with that when he warned that, "FOR PUBLIC SAFETY, YOU ARE ADVISED TO REFRAIN FROM DISCUSSION OF THE PROGRAM FOR 24 HOURS."
Today, Fox took to TwitLonger to clear up some of the mysteries, although in truth he didn't answer questions so much as just open the door to more. To the first and most obvious inquiry, for example—whether Deltarune is a sequel to Undertale—he replied, "Please don't worry too much about that."

Heroes of the Storm's new hero, Orphea, was 'born entirely in the Nexus'
https://www.pcgamer.com/heroes-of-the-storms-new-hero-orphea-was-born-entirely-in-the-nexus/
Heroes of the Storm's next hero is Orphea, daughter of the Raven Lord, a brand new Blizzard character who was "born entirely in the Nexus." The character was announced during the BlizzCon Opening Ceremony with an animated short, which you can watch above.

Fan-inspired Janitor Leoric skin announced for Heroes of the Storm
https://www.pcgamer.com/fan-inspired-janitor-leoric-skin-announced-for-heroes-of-the-storm/
What began as a fun, detailed fan creation was just made real at BlizzCon 2018. The Janitor Leoric skin, including a lovely soap mount, will be coming to Heroes of the Storm soon. It's a pretty funny take on Diablo's notably loud, angry Skeleton King. Watch the trailer below, which also shows off skins for the first wholly original HotS character Orphea.

World of Warcraft: Classic is coming summer 2019, won't require another subscription
https://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warcraft-classic-is-coming-summer-2019-wont-require-another-subscription/
World of Warcraft: Classic, the recreation of the MMO when it launched in 2004, is coming summer 2019—and better yet, you won't need to pay a separate subscription from your normal WoW one to play it. Announced live at Blizzcon 2018, executive producer John Hight revealed that progress on Classic had made strides since it was first revealed last year and that next year players would finally get to experience World of Warcraft as it was when it first launched 14 years ago.
>> And with it, the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj event is also coming back.

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth's major 8.1 update is coming December 11
https://www.pcgamer.com/world-of-warcraft-battle-for-azeroths-major-81-update-is-coming-december-11/
World of Warcraft's next major update, called Tides of Vengeance, will be arriving on December 11 for US players, and a day later for those in Europe. First announced back in September on a livestream, Tides of Vengeance promises to fix many of the bigger problems that players have been complaining about since launch. Oh, and it'll also add heaps of new activities too, which is just as exciting.
>> It was also revealed where the 8.2 patch will take its players.

https://www.pcgamer.com/wows-2018-charity-pet-is-the-adorable-whomper-proceeds-go-to-codeorg/
At Blizzcon today, Blizzard announced Whomper, this year's World of Warcraft charity pet. The proceeds from Whomper, who costs $10 on the Blizzard store and looks very sad that you haven't adopted him yet, will go to Code.org. Blizzard's executive producer of WoW, John Hight, called Code "a non-profit dedicated to expanding computer science education in schools, and increasing participation by women and minorities."

Overwatch's new hero is Ashe, a DPS character with a rifle and shotgun
https://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-hero-ashe/
Overwatch's next hero is an old McCree associate, Elizabeth Caledonia Ashe. She was revealed during BlizzCon's Opening Ceremony with a new cinematic today—check that out above.
Ashe is a DPS hero who fights with a semi-auto rifle, The Viper, which she can fire from the hip or down sights for more damage. Her Dynamite ability is essentially an incendiary grenade which either detonates shortly after throwing, or by being shot. Her second ability is more exciting: Coach Gun is a sawed-off shotgun that can be used to either knock back enemies or 'shotgun jump' with a shot at the ground, boosting her into the air.
>> Some skins and concept art for this new hero have been revealed.

Hearthstone's next expansion is Rastakhan's Rumble
https://www.pcgamer.com/hearthstones-next-expansion-is-rastakhans-rumble/
Once every generation, Azeroth's Troll tribes come together to compete for the blessings of the Loa and the favor of King Rastakhan. The no-holds-barred battle forms the basis for Rastakhan's Rumble, the next Hearthstone expansion, which was just revealed today as part of the BlizzCon opening ceremony.

Into the Breach now has full controller support
https://www.pcgamer.com/into-the-breach-now-has-full-controller-support/
The sublime strategy game Into the Breach got a little better today with a small but important update that adds full controller support to the game.
The update means that Into the Breach will work properly, and natively, with any Steam-supported controller. Hookup is easy: Just plug your controller in while the game is running, then mash a button and it will switch to controller mode.

Rust now has hot air balloons and missiles that can shoot them down
https://www.pcgamer.com/rust-now-has-hot-air-balloons-and-missiles-that-can-shoot-them-down/
Rust, the survival game where you start by banging a rock against a tree and then progress to crafting automatic weapons, has opened up a new mode of travel that lets you take to the skies: hot air balloons. You'll find them scattered around the map, and once they're fueled you can fly wherever the wind carries you. Balloons should hold about four or five passengers, making them the ideal way to soar above the defenses of a fort you'd like to raid.
>> And that has pushed the game to an all time high player count.

Sean Bean and an explosive rubber duck star in Hitman 2 launch trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/sean-bean-and-an-explosive-rubber-duck-star-in-hitman-2-launch-trailer/
With less than two weeks until we get our hands on Hitman 2, IO Interactive has released a live-action launch trailer detailing some of the more imaginative weapons you'll use to take out your targets, including an explosive rubber duck, a heavy bag of sugar and a wet fish.

Black Ops 4's first PC-only weapons rebalance is live
https://www.pcgamer.com/black-ops-4s-first-pc-only-weapons-rebalance-update-is-live/
Treyarch has released the first update aimed at changing Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's PC meta, and if you've been smacking your enemies down with dual Saug 9mm submachine guns, it's bad news.
Hip fire accuracy for the weapon already took a hit in a global patch this week, but now hip fire bullet spread has been widened further on PC, mostly because dual-wielding the guns was proving "extremely popular", Treyarch said in a Reddit post.

Fortnite is getting a new 'powerful assault rifle'
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-is-getting-a-new-powerful-assault-rifle/
Epic is adding a Kalashnikov-styled Heavy Assault Rifle to Fortnite, and it'll be "most useful when fired in short bursts".
The gun, above, appeared yesterday in the updates feed that opens when you launch the game. It's described as a "powerful assault rifle" that is "coming soon"—usually, that means it'll be in the battle royale game within a week.

Amazon's MMO New World shows off new screens that aren't just some nice trees
https://www.pcgamer.com/amazons-mmo-new-world-shows-off-new-screens-that-arent-just-some-nice-trees/
I'm pretty fond of the #screenshotsaturday hashtag on Twitter that allows devs to showcase new games. One team using it to interesting effect is Amazon Game Studios' Orange County office, which is making the MMO New World. In this case it's being used to reveal new parts of the game's fictional supernatural continent. Over the past few weeks, the developer has unveiled a couple more locations on its substantial map—Brightwood and Weaver's Fen.

Path of Exile private leagues come with mods that make the game 'absurdly hard'
https://www.pcgamer.com/path-of-exile-private-leagues-come-with-mods-that-make-the-game-absurdly-hard/
Next week you'll be able to pay to run private leagues in Path of Exile and add mods to make the game absurdly hard.
"We designed private leagues with the needs of two groups of players in mind," reads the announcement on the Path of Exile site. "The first group is players who want a more challenging Path of Exile experience. The second is players who want to see how far they and their friends can get without outside influence from the rest of a league."

Denuvo 5.2 anti-tamper tech, used in newer games, has already been cracked
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/denuvo-5-2-anti-tamper-tech-used-in-newer-games-has-already-been-cracked/
Football Manager 2019 has just been released and it appears to be using the newest version of the Denuvo anti-tamper tech. And in just five days, a new scene group was able to crack this latest version of Denuvo (which is called Denuvo 5.2).
From what we know so far, The Quiet Man and Football Manager 2019 are the only games that are using Denuvo 5.2. Our guess is that Hitman 2 and Battlefield 5 will be also using it (though we are not certain yet) and Just Cause 4 may use an even newer version (provided Denuvo ups its game).
In case you are wondering, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, FIFA 19, Monster Hunter World, Shadow of The Tomb Raider and Dragon Quest XI have been using Denuvo 4.9. So yeah, it’s pretty weird witnessing the latest version of Denuvo being cracked while there are still uncracked games using its previous version.

However, the game has also been added to Steam’s database, hinting at a Steam release.

Cyberpunk 2077's sidequests 'could affect the main story'
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077s-sidequests-could-affect-the-main-story/
The Witcher 3 had great sidequests. They were self-contained short stories that made the world feel richer. In an interview with Gamingbolt CD Projekt RED level designer Miles Tost implies that Cyberpunk 2077's sidequests will be less self-contained, and might actually affect the critical path.

Official NFL skins are coming to Fortnite
https://www.pcgamer.com/fortnite-nfl-skins/
Official NFL Fortnite skins will be made available this Friday, November 9, Epic announced today. The skins will allow players to swap between any team or number they like, including a fictional Fortnite team if you're not ready to commit. One thing everyone will have to commit, however, is some money: the skins will only be available in the item shop, though the price hasn't been set yet.

The Underworld Ascendant launch trailer puts an old dungeon in a new light
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-underworld-ascendant-launch-trailer-puts-an-old-dungeon-in-a-new-light/
Underworld Ascendant faces quite a challenge: Ultima Underworld, the 1992 game that inspired it, was a transcendent experience that served up a living, breathing world unlike any that had been seen before. I don't expect Ascendant to surpass it in any way, but can it live up to the standard it set?

Overwatch's new hero Ashe is now playable on the PTR

Blizzard denies that Diablo 4 announcement was planned for BlizzCon
https://www.pcgamer.com/rumor-blizzard-was-going-to-announce-diablo-4-at-blizzcon-but-cancelled-at-the-last-minute/
The announcement of Diablo Immortal at BlizzCon went about as badly as it could have. The reveal of a mobile game rather than a full-on Diablo 4 led to a "huge backlash" at what is traditionally a two-day celebration of all things Blizzard. According to a Kotaku report, however, the reaction to Diablo Immortal's announcement could've been very different, as the site says that Blizzard planned to confirm Diablo 4 is in development but bailed on the reveal before last Friday.
Update: Blizzard has issued a statement denying that it had intended to announce Diablo 4 at BlizzCon. "We generally don’t comment on rumors or speculation, but we can say that we didn’t pull any announcements from BlizzCon this year or have plans for other announcements," a rep said in an email. "We do continue to have different teams working on multiple unannounced Diablo projects, and we look forward to announcing when the time is right."

Here are the patch notes for Fallout 76's 30 GB update
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-patch/
Fallout 76 was patched today ahead of the next round of beta sessions, which will take place on Tuesday and Thursday of this week (they are also the final beta tests before the game launches on November 14).
The patch is a big one: about 30 GB (for comparison, the entire game is about 47 GB), so I hope everyone interested in playing will have enough time to download it before the beta begins tomorrow, November 6, at 10 am PST / 1 pm EST.

Rainbow Six Siege review bombed amid China censorship backlash
https://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-review-bombed-amid-china-censorship-backlash/
Following last week’s announcement that Ubisoft would be tweaking the aesthetics of Rainbow Six Siege maps and UI to comply with Chinese game regulations, the most vocal corner of the game’s community is in an uproar. Over the weekend, upset fans bombarded Siege with negative reviews, dropping its reception to “mixed” on Steam. In the past few days, almost 1,500 negative reviews have appeared, the vast majority of them condemning Ubi’s alterations for the Chinese market.

Get your first glimpse of Rainbow Six Siege's new map
https://www.pcgamer.com/rainbow-six-siege-new-map/
We’ve known that Rainbow Six Siege would be taking a trip to Morocco for a year, but until now we’ve not known much more than that. Ubisoft’s first vague teaser for the new map, appearing on Twitter yesterday evening, doesn’t really change that. It does, however, suggest that the wait won’t be much longer.
