Is that... a stealth numpad on the trackpad?

Yes, it seems that ASUS started doing that last year, although it is nothing new. A few years ago I had the Rapoo E9080 which also had a numpad on the trackpad... to tell you the truth it didn't work that well so I sold it.

PS: Thanks for the freebie alert!

And how des it work? Is there a button to switch it from numpad to trackpad or it's both things at the same time and you have to prey for not messing it up?

SCUM is Devolver Digital’s biggest launch to date

https://www.dsogaming.com/news/scum-is-devolver-digitals-biggest-launch-to-date/
SCUM, a next generation, story driven survival game featuring extremely complex game mechanics and unrevealed survival features, has just been released and according to Devolver Digital it is its biggest launch to date.
Financially, this is a really huge success for both Gamepires and Devolver Digital. However, the game right now is facing major server issues according to a lot of reports. As such, its current Steam reviews are Mixed.

Lol. It's just like they put all of the features I don't like into one game^^

Good for them, though. Probably the best publisher of all time.

Never heard about it, I just watched the video - all I have to say is WOW - that interconnectivity of attributes, skills and body type to how you perform in game is exactly what I've been wanting to see in RPGs for as long as I remember action RPG being a thing - Exanima tried some of that, but that project is pretty much abandoned.

Sadly, this is RPG survival game, so I have no interest in it, but I hope some dev will take a note or two from its systems and make actual (preferably fantasy) RPG.

EDIT: Actually, let me embed it here, I think it's very interesting to see, use pause a lot to see all the details.

There has to be a trigger to switch between the trackpad to the touch numpad. In the Rapoo you needed to do a slide motion at the bottom of the trackpad where it says "SLIDE HERE". Sometimes it didn't work... so I didn't know if the numpad or trackpad was active (you would know in which mode you were at from the LED at the end of "SLIDE HERE"). Either way, numpad needs keys, you type those without looking - you need some physical feedback.

In ASUS's case I'm not sure, but there seems to be something on the top right, or that could just be the finger scanner.
Last year they released the 15" ZenBook Pro that had a touchscreen instead of the trackpad. This year they did the 14" version and the touchscreen functions are toggled via F6.

I like my open world games as brainless and storyless as possible. So this is the opposite of what I'd want. But it's great that it exists and I wish it all the best.

China cracks down on game approval in alleged attempt to curb poor eyesight
https://www.pcgamer.com/china-cracks-down-on-game-approval-in-alleged-attempt-to-curb-poor-eyesight/
China’s months-long freeze on new game approvals has turned into further regulation efforts. The government plants to curtail the number of online games and discourage play-time, all in an effort to curb a growing number of myopia cases in young children.
Bloomberg reported that the new gaming regulations came as part of a much wider series of edicts that included encouraging outdoor activities and restricting useage of more general electronic devices. But the regulations also focussed on a restriction on the total number of online available to play in China, and greater controls over the introduction of new online games into the country.

Monster Hunter: World mod makes your hub area more patriotic
https://www.pcgamer.com/monster-hunter-world-mod-makes-your-hub-area-more-patriotic/
Astera, the main hub of Monster Hunter: World, is one of the biggest hub areas in the series' history. It's got blacksmiths, feline chefs and vendors galore, to say nothing of dozens of NPC hunters traipsing about. But you know what it doesn't have? Big ol' flags from your country. Thankfully, modder highsouled recently released a mod that adds just that.
Dozens of flags are available, and highsouled has added many more following user requests, including the flags for Brazil, France, Malaysia, Germany, Finland and Scotland. It's a neat way to personalize Astera, and hell, we've already made 10,000 pairs of mittens out of the local fauna so we may as well claim the land for ourselves too.

>>If flags are your thing, you can download this mod from Nexus Mods.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 winter roadmap reveals new sandbox mode and upcoming heroes
https://www.pcgamer.com/star-wars-battlefront-2-winter-roadmap-reveals-new-sandbox-mode-and-upcoming-heroes/
Electronic Arts has laid out its plans for Star Wars: Battlefront 2 for the balance of 2018, which will kick off in September with a new Squad system enabling players to spawn on squaddies in the Galactic Assault, Blast, and Strike modes. The 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps and 104th Wolfpack Battalion—which is a very Star Wars way of saying "new clone trooper appearances"—will also make their debut.

However, earlier this year McMillen told Polygon that he's "never done" with Isaac, and according to publisher Nicalis, there's more Isaac in store—in addition to the Four Souls card game, that is. The publisher tweeted a brief teaser for a new game (or add-on) titled The Binding of Isaac: Repentance last night.

Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag is not happy with Generation Zero
https://www.pcgamer.com/swedish-artist-simon-stalenhag-is-not-happy-with-generation-zero/
When Generation Zero released its gameplay trailer earlier this month, I remarked that its blend of moody landscapes and retro-futurist technology looked very similar to the work of Swedish artist Simon Stålenhag, the creator of pen and paper RPG Tales from the Loop.
As it turns out, those similarities have not gone unnoticed by Stålenhag himself, and the artist is not particularly happy with how those similarities have caused a flood of questions regarding whether he was involved with the project.

Gorgeous Industries of Titan trailer shows off combat system
https://www.pcgamer.com/gorgeous-industries-of-titan-trailer-shows-off-combat-system/
Saturnian colony sim Industries of Titan has received a new trailer, this one showing off the game’s tactical combat system.
The trailer shows the player’s “L2 cruiser” trading fire with a pair of “Dowser Tsunami” frigates over one of the game’s gorgeous, Blade Runner-esque city-scapes. The combat has a somewhat FTL-like structure, with players able to view the interiors of their ships from a top-down perspective, letting them customise its components via a drag-and-drop interface. The system also shows you where laser fire strikes, and the damage done to the respective vessels.
