The second, and last, part of the news:

Bungie confirms that Year 1 gear will carry over into Destiny 2 Forsaken
https://www.pcgamer.com/bungie-confirms-that-year-1-gear-will-carry-over-into-destiny-2-forsaken/
Good news for avid Destiny players: Forsaken won't make all of your Year One legendary gear obsolete. During E3 2018, I got the chance to sit down with game director Steve Cotton, design lead Lars Bakken, and project lead Scott Taylor to talk about Forsaken and, more specifically, its new hybrid PvE and PvP mode called Gambit. We'll have our impressions of Gambit for you later in the week, but during that conversation we touched on something that will bring relief to hardcore players. Gear dropped in Forsaken won't necessarily outclass the gear you've already acquired.

GTA Online heists get double experience and in-game cash this week
https://www.pcgamer.com/gta-online-heists-get-double-experience-and-in-game-cash-this-week/
Not to rag on Simeon too much up there in the strapline, but his GTA Online Contact missions are pretty guff. The prospect of netting double RP and GTA$ to carry out his string of tedious carjackings is neat, but, honestly, probably not enough to motivate me. I'd rather be robbing banks. Lucky for me, a selection of GTA Online's heists are also subject to the same offer.

Ruin your friendships again in Overcooked 2 this August
https://www.pcgamer.com/ruin-your-friendships-again-in-overcooked-2-this-august/
During Nintendo's E3 show, Overcooked 2, the sequel to one of our favorite co-op games, was announced. And don't worry, it may have been announced by Nintendo, but Team 17 have confirmed it's coming to PC. Expect to play it August 7.

Fallout 76 will have 'real-time' VATS
https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-will-have-real-time-vats/
The Vault-Tech Assisted Targeting System—VATS—has been a staple of Bethesda-brand post-nuclear combat since Fallout 3. It's evolved from game to game, but the basics remain the same: It dramatically slows time in the midst of combat, enabling players to target individual body parts without having to be actual sharpshooting masters. One of the big questions about Fallout 76 is how that time-slowing will work in its multiplayer environment—if it's going to be there at all.

Roll20 is getting a built-in character creator
https://www.pcgamer.com/roll20-is-getting-a-built-in-character-creator/
Popular online roleplaying platform Roll20 is adding a character creation app called The Charactermancer to its suite online roleplaying services. Currently in testing, the tool can currently only build level 1 Dungeons & Dragons characters using data from D&D’s free rules compendium and Roll20’s own virtual compendium. Roll20 is one of the most popular programs for playing tabletop roleplaying games online, probably one of the best ways to play them on your PC, and is used extensively on Twitch RPG shows that have remote players.

Anthem won't have player-to-player trading at launch
https://www.pcgamer.com/anthem-wont-have-player-to-player-trading-at-launch/
Fair play to Mark Darrah. Following Anthem's appearance at EA Play on Saturday, the game's executive producer has fielded hundreds of questions from those interested in BioWare's shared-world shooter.
I checked back in on Darrah's Twitter feed, and found this on the absence of player-to-player trading at launch interesting.

Cyberpunk 2077 has a 'cool' stat
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-has-a-cool-stat/
As you'd expect from an RPG, your character has stats that you'll increase throughout the game, leveling up characteristics including strength, constitution, intelligence, reflexes, and tech. Also: Cool.
There's a stat for cool.

Cyberpunk 2077 won't ship with multiplayer, but it's a possibility after launch
https://www.pcgamer.com/cyberpunk-2077-wont-ship-with-multiplayer-but-its-a-possibility-after-launch/
When asked by Eurogamer if Cyberpunk 2077 is "purely" a single-player game, quest designer Patrick Mills answered yes.
"We have multiplayer in R&D, but the game we're shipping to you, the game you're going to buy is the single-player experience," Mills explains to EG. "That's really what we're concentrating on now, the single-player RPG experience. That's what we want to nail down before we start looking at any of these other things."

Id Software boss says original Rage was 'every shade of brown'
https://www.pcgamer.com/id-software-boss-says-original-rage-was-every-shade-of-brown/
Rage 2, unlike most end-of-the-world wasteland adventures, appears to be a very colorful game: Bright, neon pink was established as its "signature color" even before the game was officially revealed to the world. It's a little incongruous as these things go, but it's a style that Avalanche and id embraced in order to help the game stand out from its predecessor, as well as certain other post-apocalyptic games that are set to show up next year.

Bethesda says Fallout 76 'is not just a full-on PvP game'
https://www.pcgamer.com/bethesda-says-fallout-76-is-not-just-a-full-on-pvp-game/
Many Fallout fans have been worried about Fallout 76 since rumors first hinted at it being an online survival game, and Bethesda confirmed those rumors (and a lot more) at its E3 showcase. One of the most prominent concerns is how PvP will play into Fallout 76, or to put a finer point on it, how, and how easily, other players will be able to intrude on your experience (read: kill you six ways from Sunday). Bethesda's Pete Hines addressed PvP in a recent interview with Variety, assuring players that Fallout 76 is not PvP-focused.

However, Bethesda eventually revisited Fallout 4's would-be multiplayer and turned it into Fallout 76, which we now know to be an online survival game.

https://www.pcgamer.com/frontier-understands-demand-for-jurassic-world-evolution-mods-but-theres-a-balance/
Frontier's Jurassic World Evolution will not have mod support, as Frontier has previously explained. Which seems a shame, given the vast catalogue of player-made projects the developer's Planet Coaster boasts. In conversation with Phil at E3, David Braben compared JWE to both Planet Coaster and Elite Dangerous, and said that while there's scope for it to follow a similar path, he himself is wary of mod support as "it means that we can't easily update the game."

The Call of Duty community is in an uproar over Activision's plans for Black Ops 4 DLC, which will see post-release multiplayer maps locked behind a "Black Ops Pass". The pass will include a "bonus Zombies experience" called Classified plus four more "all-new Zombies experiences," four exclusive Blackout characters, and 12 multiplayer maps. As numerous unhappy threads on the Black Ops 4 subreddit have pointed out, that's going to split the community between those who are willing to pony up for the pass, and those who are not.

I can't say that it grabbed me in quite the same way as The Ink Spots, but I really like what Bethesda is doing with it outside of the game: The cover track will be released on iTunes on July 4, with all funds raised going to support Habit for Humanity.

But Avellone isn't the only talent working on the game. "We also got some additional help in the form of the former The Witcher 3 writing team," Techland told VG247. We got a bit of hands-on time with Metro Exodus during E3 week. The survival FPS from 4A Games is bigger than both the earlier Metro games put together, and is structured differently, too: while there are linear portions of Exodus, there are also large open world areas where players can freely explore. There's also dynamic weather and a day-night cycle.

Final Fantasy 7 remake skips E3, director vows it's 'not just in early concept stages'

Despite making the right noises earlier this year, Final Fantasy 7's much-anticipated remake was one of the no-show games of E3 2018.
In conversation with The Verge, director Tetsuya Nomura has now assured would-be players that, while developing the reimagining alongside Kingdom Hearts 3, it is "actually in development" and "not just in the early concept stages."

The Long Dark adds new region, overhauls cooking system

Fancy a getaway this weekend? After drowning in E3 stories all week, I know I do. Perhaps I'll escape to The Long Dark's new Hushed River Valley region, where I can drown in its icy lakes instead.

Resident Evil 2 remake will include Tofu, Hunk and that big bastard alligator

The Resident Evil 2 remake may have lost some its B-movie charm (see above), but it'll still feature some of its most fantastical characters. As reported by Polygon, Tofu, Hunk, and that massive mutant alligator that, don't lie, scared the total shite out of you on first encounter will return come January 25, 2019.

PUBG map selection scaled back following Sanhok testing
https://www.pcgamer.com/pubg-map-selection-scaled-back-following-sanhok-testing/
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds introduced map selection in April, which allowed players to choose between its Erangel and Miramar arenas for the first time. "We'll still have to keep a close eye on it," said developer PUBG Corp at the time, "since it could become problematic as new maps continue to be added."
Following its fourth round of testing, the developer says it will scale back map selection options when Sanhok lands later this month.

Time now to check the GOG and Steam deals for the weekend:

+GOG

  • The Summer Sale is going to finish this Monday, so it's your last weekend to check what's on sale. And you better do it, because new titles have been added to the sale! So, what are you waiting for? Go to GOG.com!

+Steam

And this marks the end of the E3 week. Now stop thinking about the games that will come and enjoy the ones you have (or will get thanks to the current deals) in, what I hope, will be a happy and gaming weekend.

Man Cyberpunk 2077 looks so good, i cant wait its my most wanted game from e3.

Can't wait to see how it looks/runs on either my 1080ti or possible 11XX series.

*snip*

Shit's gonna be lit.

Now that you mention the future Nvidia cards, it looks like that "a long time from now" that Huang said means about 3 months:

NVIDIA Briefs AIC Partners About Next-gen GeForce Series
https://www.techpowerup.com/245088/nvidia-briefs-aic-partners-about-next-gen-geforce-series
NVIDIA has reportedly briefed its add-in card (AIC) partners about its upcoming GeForce product family, codenamed "Turing," and bearing a commercial nomenclature of either GeForce 11-series, or GeForce 20-series. This sets in motion a 2-3 month long process of rolling out new graphics cards by board partners, beginning with reference-design "Founders Edition" SKUs, followed by custom-design SKUs. Sources tell Tom's Hardware Germany that AIC partners have began training product development teams. NVIDIA has also released a BoM (bill of materials) to its partners, so aside from the ASIC itself, they could begin the process of sourcing other components for their custom-design products (such as coolers, memory chips, VRM components, connectors, etc.).

The BoM also specifies a timeline for the tentative amount of time it takes for each of the main stages of the product development, leading up to mass-production. It stipulates 11-12 weeks (2-3 months) leading up to mass-production and shipping, which could put product-launch some time in August (assuming the BoM was released some time in May-June). A separate table also provides a fascinating insight to the various stages of development of a custom-design NVIDIA graphics card.

So there we go. We can have new Nvidia cards by September or so. Although I'm not sure this will be the one you'll use to play Cyberpunk. By the time it launches, we'll possibly be with the GTX 13xx or 14xx series!

I had someone try and convince me that the Geforce 1180 will have a 4ghz clockspeed based on a rumor they read. Boy I never laughed so hard.

A 4GHz GPU? When we've barely reached 2GHz? Who the f*ck spreads those rumors?!
