Valve and Perfect World are bringing Steam to China
https://www.pcgamer.com/valve-and-perfect-world-are-bringing-steam-to-china/
Valve has announced a new partnership with Perfect World Co. to launch Steam China, which "will provide Chinese gamers and developers with a new way to access Steam's expansive selection of games and entertainment."
The size of the Chinese audience makes the launch of an officially-approved version of Steam in the country a huge move for Valve. The store is accessible in the country, but access to the Steam Community, including forums, user profiles, and inventories, is completely blocked, meaning that anything requiring interaction with other users isn't going to work.

In the teasiest of trailers, we're shown a running timeline that mentions the discovery of the Oversoul, the Age of Dawn, the birth of a goddess, a World War, the formation of a New World Academy and, blimey, a day of reckoning.
"CE5450: Punishment. On the Day of Judgement, Gaia turns against mankind," so says the following trailer.

Square Enix announces The Quiet Man with the worst trailer of E3 so far
https://www.pcgamer.com/square-enix-announces-the-quiet-man-with-the-worst-trailer-of-e3-so-far/
The Quiet Man was announced at Square Enix's E3 show today, introduced with might be the worst trailer of E3 so far.
It begins with some live action, in which a man, who is quiet, walks into an alley. The man who is quiet makes eye contact with two other men, troubling stereotypes meant to appear as rough and tough streetwise thugs. The alley-men notice the man who is quiet who is also carrying a paper bag that could be mistaken for chow and let him know that they did not, in fact, order any chow.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 teases the return of Jade
https://www.pcgamer.com/beyond-good-and-evil-2-teases-return-of-jade/
Beyond Good & Evil 2's appearance at E3 2017 came as a surprise. Revealed on stage at the Ubisoft conference, the cinematic teaser didn't give too much away—but did mark a blatant shift in tone from its 2003 forerunner.
Ubisoft has now shown off more of BG&E 2 during its dedicated E3 2018 showing. It's a prequel, mind, but get ready for the return of Jade

Trials Rising will go into closed beta later this year, and release in February 2019.

The Division 2 will have 8-player raids and a year of free expansions
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-division-2-will-have-8-player-raids-and-a-year-of-free-expansions/
We got our first look at The Division 2 during Microsoft's E3 presser, but we finally learned exactly what's changing at Ubisoft's. We know The Division 2 is set in Washington, D.C., but now we know it takes place seven months after 'Black Friday', the bio attack that kicked off the events of the first game. The virus is essentially gone, but civilization has yet to recover.

https://www.pcgamer.com/will-the-division-2-have-a-battle-royale-mode-nope-says-ubisoft/
At a pre-E3 meeting about The Division 2 I spoke with Ubisoft's associate creative director Chadi El Zibaoui. And I had a question.
"I just have to ask. Battle Royale?"
"Battle royale? Nope," said El Zibaoui. "Not in the Division 2."

https://www.pcgamer.com/skull-and-bones-gameplay-video-shows-pirate-combat-ship-customization-and-more/

Assassin's Creed Odyssey releases in October, is set in Ancient Greece and has dialogue choices
https://www.pcgamer.com/assassins-creed-odyssey-release-date-e3-trailer/
Assassin's Creed Odyssey has finally been revealed by Ubisoft at E3. As rumoured for a few weeks, it was confirmed that the game's set in Ancient Greece. Thrown off the cliff by his father at the start of the game, we see huge-scale battles, naval combat, a variety of settings like deserts, countrysides, snowy mountains and more. Plus, there's a fight with a bear. It's Assassin's Creed alright. It's set during the Peloponnesian War.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey lets you romance whoever you so choose
https://www.pcgamer.com/assassins-creed-odyssey-lets-you-romance-whoever-you-so-choose/
In what is surely E3 2018's most unfortunate news, Bioware's Anthem will not have smooching. The future is forsaken.
The past, on the other hand, is a love-in. Because not only will Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Odyssey have romance options, players are free to shape their character's sexual orientation as they see fit.

>>Romance in an Assassin's Creed game? What is going on?

Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot on new Splinter Cell: “want to come back,” “can’t say much today”
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/ubisofts-yves-guillemot-on-new-splinter-cell-want-to-come-back-cant-say-much-today/
I’m pretty sure that a lot of gamers were disappointed when Ubisoft’s E3 2018 conference ended, and that’s because the French company did not reveal any new Splinter Cell game. However, Ubisoft’s Yves Guillemot did say in a brief interview with Geoff Keighley that the company wants to return to this franchise.

https://www.pcgamer.com/battlefield-5-cosmetics-need-to-be-believable-need-to-fit-with-the-era-says-ea/
In conversation with senior producer Andreas Morrell at E3, Phil asked if the developer is worried about historical accuracy in relation to the game's planned cosmetic items.
"It needs to be believable. It needs to fit with the era," explains Morrell. "We're not creating a steampunk universe or anything like that. But if it was used, we can have it. Doing research for this, we stumbled across a guy called 'Mad Jack' Churchill, a British guy who was part of the Norwegian campaign.

https://www.pcgamer.com/fallout-76-will-have-mod-support-but-not-at-launch/

Previous Fallout games have enjoyed extensive mod support, but as an online game with an inextricable multiplayer focus, the Fallout 76 situation wasn't so clear. Speaking with Geoff Keighley today, however, Todd Howard assured fans that Bethesda is completely committed to making it happen.

LawBreakers is closing in September, will be free-to-play until then (Updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/lawbreakers-goes-free-to-play-on-steam/
With no fanfare, or even the slightest indication at all that it was going to happen, Boss Key Studio's arena FPS LawBreakers has gone free-to-play Steam.
Update: Unfortunately, the free-to-play transition isn't a sign that Nexon is hoping to revive LawBreakers, but simply a way to soften the blow of its looming closure. "In light of the unfortunate news regarding Boss Key Productions shutting down, we regret to announce that we will be sunsetting our support of LawBreakers on September 14, 2018 as we are not able to operate the game," Nexon said in a statement.

Watch the Resident Evil 2 remake debut trailer
https://www.pcgamer.com/watch-the-resident-evil-2-remake-debut-trailer/
The debut trailer for the Resident Evil 2 remake was shown at Sony's E3 showcase, and it's looking way better than expected. This isn't just a simple remaster with higher-res textures and streamlined controls. This is Resident Evil 2 completely remade. It's adopting the over-the-shoulder camera and combat system popularized in Resident Evil 4 from the looks of it, and the characters and monsters have received a nice makeover. The mood is much spookier than what I remember, too. I have to say, I'm very impressed.

Cayde-6 gets killed in a dark Destiny 2: Forsaken story trailer (Updated)
https://www.pcgamer.com/cayde-6-gets-killed-in-a-dark-destiny-2-forsaken-story-trailer/
The trailer is one of tone-setting rather than a reveal of features or gameplay. It opens with a closeup of Cayde-6 looking like death on toast and apparently at the mercy of an Awoken Hunter—possibly Abra Zire, although she was (according to the Destinypedia, anyway) killed at the Battle of Saturn during the Taken War.
Update: I completely forgot about this, but rumors of Cayde-6 dying in Destiny 2 actually surfaced back in October in a datamining thread on Reddit. The Future War Cult and New Monarchy factions were found to have lines referencing his death and "what comes after," and there are also mentions of the Reef and the Prison of Elders, the setting for the Forsaken expansion.

I was hoping for some news on that rumored Xcom 2 expansion. Guess I'll have to wait for PAX.

Some of the games I'm interested in: Satisfactory, Maneater, Ooblets, Star Control: Origins, PLANET ALPHA, Generation Zero, TUNIC, Two Point Hospital, We Happy Few.

A shame that those Sega games have Denuvo.

I was really hoping PCG show was gonna show off some Strategy games.

Next year will hopefully show some off, but knowing how the genre isn't anywhere as popular as the 90's, the chances are unlikely.

The 90's were amazing for RTS games, it felt like we were getting a new RTS game every week.

Command and Conquer, WarCraft, StarCraft, Total Annihilation, Dark Reign, Dune, Age of Empires, Dungeon Keeper, Settlers, Jagged Alliance, Homeworld, Civilization, Alpha Centauri, Heroes of Might and Magic, Moon Project, Stronghold, Dark Colony, Outpost 2, Seven Kingdoms, Battlezone 2, Earth 2140, Alien Nations, Warlords Battlecry... And probably more I am sure I have missed.

"Friends and chat are just the beginning. This update was built using a new UI framework and includes some important architectural improvements under the hood, all of which allow us to make more frequent updates to our web-based Steam components. There are many improvements to the overall Steam experience that we plan to tackle, and your feedback helps us to prioritize what's next."

"This update includes many more items of note, including: invisible mode, so you can appear offline, but still access your friends list and chats. And adding friends is easier now with custom friend-request links you can email or send outside of Steam."

We're getting a rebuilt chat system with this too.

What makes it depressing, is that a good chunk of those games are either dead, discontinued or the dev/publisher decides to kill it or throw it in the pile out back.

Exactly. I am sure a market still exists for them, especially in the A or AA budget game segments.

Now that the E3 conferences are over and all the big announcements have been made, the number of news have (thankfully) gone down drastically. By the way, is it me or has this E3 been very poor when it comes to new games announcements?
