Graphics are, after all, why we play video games.

It's not why we play games of course, but it's a bloody good feature to have. I would rather have a game look amazing, than have to look at something that looks like shit.

Don't get me wrong. I love good graphics too. I absolutely want the next Zelda to be (in a TP type art style) epic and gorgeous to behold. I also salivate at the idea of how good the water graphics/physics could look/be in a new HD Wave Race (I really hope they make one).

But in general, I have to disagree. While I too would prefer my games not to "look like shit", if given the choice, I would rather have a game that is graphically "meh", but plays AMAZINGLY, than to have a game that looks amazing, but plays like shit. And I'm sorry to report, that that is the general direction the games industry has gradually been heading since the PS2 era. And to me personally, as a lifelong gamer since the early 80s, it's not something I'm very happy about.

I've never played Witcher, so I can't speak to that. If it looks great and plays great, great. But I've seen/played too many "gorgeous" looking games that had either "meh" or outright horrid gameplay. I think it's a sacrifice that many (mainly western) developers need not be making. To me, you focus on making your game FUN to play first, and everything else second.

That's fine, but you probably shouldn't be trolling threads about games just because they look good.

Dat distance!

Is not that impressive to be honest. The scale is still too small for me so the horison still looks too close. But it's not bad.

Also, are these in game realtime or game engine rendered? It could be setings is everything to max, running on powerfull hardware and then you can get a really good screenshot even if the game runs at 5 FPS.

You can count on these being PC screenshots

You can also count on PS4 version looking similar to this one (unless this was running on Titan)

@Player1x3
PS4 AND Xbox One will be similar looking to the PC version. They just won't have all the bells and whistles. Probably little AA if any and 30fps.

Cant speak for the Xbone, its GPU and RAM are considerably weaker, while PS4 is on par with 650-800$ gaming PCs, so they'll probably look similar

guys what i mean by nextgen is this game would not be possible on current gen consoles, just look at witcher 2 on 360 and that's not even open world.

Smoky Mountains (been around in 1st generation man)

Witcher 3:

Obviously not current generation!

You can't even max The Witcher 2 out on an $800 PC.  Why would you be able to max out The Witcher 3?

Let me guess... graphics > gameplay

This isn't Skyrim a Bethesda game.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords
