Forums - Nintendo - Massive Campaign to end Region Locking on Wii U and 3DS Underway

Why now? This should have been done MONTHS ago.

It'd be better for us, but it's there to make money in the end. Why wait 6 months for the EU version to come out at £45 when you can get the American version used for £8?

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

signed! spread the word!

I will help altough I am not sure how it affects us here in Argentina. But if this could prevent me from importing the console from outside I am glad to sign up for this.

Brazilian here. I guess it can be only good for us South Americans.

You are right xD. I signed anyway because I have a 3DS and I made my friends do it as one of them knows Japanese and could play some Japanese imported games :)

Hopefully it will go away. I never understood the practice really.

I've always wondered why Nintendo applied region locking to their home consoles, but not their handhelds, and then suddenly did with 3DS. So strange!

Also, like mentioned in this thread before, in the end the money and profits would still go to Nintendo and the devs/publishers, so there's that...

With the recent news of both the PS4 and Xbox One being region-free, there's been a push for Nintendo to do the same.
