Forums - Sony Discussion - Gamespot: Sony cut PS Eye from PS4 to beat Xbox One price

Sony playing it safe this gen

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

It's a smart move.... But I will hope they will include it with every PS4 when the time will come for a first price drop.

Include it with the system, instead of dropping the price.

I don't really care about motion gaming. It's good for some titles, but most of the games I play do very good without it. But the camera would share the very same fate as the PS Eye if they don't plan on bundling it with every PS4 down the road.

It's ok for them to drop it from the launch package, because most people who will buy the system at launch are hardcore fans who will most likely get the camera down the road if the games warrant the purchase. But for the common folks, if they adopt early... I don't know, I understand the point in bundling Kinect with every console, since it allows the developers to include features that take advantage of it, not having to care about whether or not people will have what is needed to use such features or not...

The PS4, by not including the camera at launch, takes the risks of having its camera being left to the oubliettes just like the PS Eye was this gen...

Of course, they could do like this gen and create a premium bundle... But it just won't be the same as if the camera had been bundled with every single console.

So whats the point of having the bright lights on the controller?

Ot: is it just me or is sony not doing anything but staying the same. Everything they have talked sound like the ps3 coukd do with just a update

They could have easily made it $450 and included the camera.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Sony's ticking all the right boxes this gen. Gotta wonder what shoutdowns happened behind closed doors during last gen.

Good move, don't impose anything on consumers, let's them decide when to get it. But now that I think about it, I thought sony were surprised by the price point on xbox one, and this implies sony knew about it all along.

Well I think this was pretty obvious. The decision must have definately happend sometime soon after the February Event, they talked a lot about the Camera at the event, but nothing at E3.

Mark Cerny happened for the PS4. That's what happened.

Good decision.

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.
