Next up! Legalization of marijuana! Then we can all be gay... I mean happy.

Not gay and don't think it is that big of a deal (marriage isn't a big deal to me).  I see no reason for a gay marriage ban.  Protect the sanctity of marriage?  Marriage has become a joke.  The divorce rate is above 50% if I recall correctly.  There is no sanctity of marriage.  Let the gays be married.  Maybe the divorce rate will go down?

Let's hope!  I would love to see gangs not be able to make money, and fewer people losing their heads in Mexico from drug profit crimes.

Just because something doesn't directly effect you doesn't mean you shouldn't be happy about it.  This is a good step for society in general. And surely, you know someone or have some family this will benefit.  It will strengthing communites, families, the general walfare etc.

I don't see how this does anything but improve the 'Sanctity of Marriage' and yes, states with same sex marrige have lower divorice rates.  And male male couples have less than half the divorice rate of male-female couples on average.

Example, the national divorce rate in the USA id 3.6 % per year.  But if you look at MASS, which has the longest same sex marriage records.  Male-Male divorce rate is only 1.1% less than a third of the national average.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

As a straight non-American, this is fantastic news. Always great to see the walls of injustice and bigotry crumble.

Thanks buddy!  Apreciate you support, you can have cake and pie with the other celebrators.

Tough day for Poofter-Bashing folks living in Sydney and staying up late to write comments on VGChartz under the name of Kyuu.

It went exactly as I said it would from the start.

Told you so.

At this rate, they should just make all 50 states allow it. I do see heavy resistance in more southern states though.

Well, to be fair, a marriage community place in Alabama was the 3rd place to offer same sex marriages (not legal rights with those though.)

So who do you think will be first Mississipppi or Utah?

It'd be Utah by far.  Not only is it a younger state, mormons are a lot more self focused then most people.  So they could eaisly vote for gay marriage while still thinking it's wrong and a sin.

I'd guess a Federal ruling or law happens first though.  Or at least before Mississippi.

I'm against gay marriage.. but cool for those that aren't

"Common sense...is not so common."

The irony.

OT:

5-4 vote, really says it all. Almost half of America is comprised of delusional, indoctrinated fools who subscribe to idealogies of bronze age Jerusalem.

This same number believe the Earth is less than 10,000 years old.

Logic does not work with these people.

Goodness, I forgot how awful your posts were in Politic threads. Someone disagrees with you, instant insults and labels associated for all dissenters!

Gays gain rights while black people seem to lose them. What a day...

I'm sorry, I'm not from the US. What do you mean black people seem to lose rights?

He speaks of the courts ruling yesterday that the voting rights act be stricken down. After all the attempts to suppress minority votes in the last presidential election it came as a surprise. We'll just have to wait and see if the south can truly function non-racially with being mandated by the government.

Actually that's exactly why it isn't a surprise.  By "attempts to supress minority voters" you mean, "Laws that require people to prove they are who they say they are before they vote."

Of the ones that absoletly require ID to vote,  80% of them are in non Civil Rights Act states.

In otherwords, the election proves exactly why the act should be thrown out in it's present form if you see such acts as racist.   The states listed aren't inacting legislation more racist then the other states.

My views on this is that government shouldn't be in a position to give out permission what people choose to do romantically or sexually.
