If you can find a PS3 Xbox One anywhere in North America that's been on shelves for more than five minutes, I'll give you 1200 bucks for it.

So a feature of a unit is not consumer friendly? I fail to see a point here about my argument.
You offer a price below cost to attract consumers, regardless of whether or not there was another incentive for you in the format war.
Since bluray won, you don't have a case. Had bluray lost, you'd have a case.
I didn't really understand WHY is the xbox price higher than the PS4... because of the Kinect maybe? because the PS4 has a stronger CPU and GPU, and I think it also has better memory capabilities, so why did they decide to launch a weaker console at a higher price at first? I really doubt that all the consumers are gonna be interested on the Kinect

lol bluray was totally not needed last gen apart from winning Sonyy the format war....... Tons of mandatory installs, because the loading speeds were inferior to that of DVD tech in the 360. And to top it all off the vast majority of 360s library was single disk, with only JRPS taking up most of those games that required multiple disks. |
I believe he was implying we'd be stuck with formats that hold little space if it wasn't for Sony pushing Bluray on PS3.
I'm not sure what a "Microsoft disc" is. But if it wasn't for Sony, our games in would be in eight Microsoft discs.
This guy is amazing.

Obviously they're both trying to make a profit but their approaches are different. MS believes they do it by being cold and calculative and maximizing profits at every single turn where possible whereas Sony believe they do it by making their customers happy.

Its Sony's next gen format? So I guess I wasn't wrong I said Sony was just benefiting themselves by pushing Bluray. Because its Sony's format. Obviously MS was downplaying Bluray because the 360 didn't have it. Ultimately, more people are using streaming media and digital downloads to watch movies nowadays. It makes sense to "accept" Bluray on XBO because its dirt cheap. Sony wasted billions and billions pushing it. Now MS taking advantage of this format that has become dirt cheap. |
It's that loyalty free gaming logic, Sony gets none of the blame and all the credit.

Well of course MS is going to downplay Sony's multimedia features...thats the only reason they are in the gaming industry.

True, but now people everywhere can enjoy Blu Ray players. Also, the PS3 still outsold the 360's first year even though the price caused multiplat enthusiasts to jump to the 360. The majority consumers go where the multiplats and better prices are from Sonys initial lot so MS got a taste of Sonys sales in the gen previous. Looks like thats about to change, because it looks like they are mostly coming back.

I was skeptical of Blu Ray....now I threw out my DVD player and now I squarely use the PS3 as my Blu Ray player. All my friends even my 360 and Wii owning friends have Blu Ray players. It served a purpose inside and out of the gaming industry unlike the Kinect which MS is forcing into the box because they know lightening wont strike twice with peripheral being sold seperately. The market accepted Blu Ray after the market price went down because of the PS3. Sony has been doing this for a while, especially with the PS2. The PS2 was the cheapest DVD player in 2001 much like the PS3 in at its price. Sony made it affordable for all and saved some of the top manufacturers in electronics investment.
