I respectfully disagree.  Ellie looking like Ellen Page won't make me less likely to buy Beyond: Two Souls.  Ellie looking like Ellen Page makes me go "oh yeah, I remember her...that chick from Juno.  Isn't she ironically in a game coming up?"  As far as I'm concerned, it's a publicity bump for her, and Beyond if she just lets it happen.  When people started clamoring for Fillon to play Nathan Drake in a potential movie, I looked him up and checked out Firefly...I may not have done that otherwise.

That being said, the whole "likeness" thing is tough to settle on.  I could see if they cashed in on a trademark catchphrase or something that only Ellen owns, but they made a digital character that looks a lot like her...I'm sure if we started a "video game characters who look like celebrities" thread, we'd get a lot of similarities.  There's also the concept of scale.  It really only makes a difference if people bought the game simply because they thought she was in it, which I doubt anyone did.  If that were the case, yeah, she has a beef because she lost out on some royalties.  I don't think that's the case though because people bought The Last of Us due to a 95 metacritic score and the reputation of Naughty Dog, especially their work on Uncharted, and Ellen Page isn't a big enough star to command that kind of draw on her own.  Disclaimer - I really enjoy Ellen Page as an actress and have liked her in the things I've seen.  This isn't a knock on her, just an objective view of the situation.

I think Ellie looks like a lot of young girls, she does bear a resemblance to Page but the same can be said for other actresses and even people I know.

It is a bit funny that they had to change the design because Page was appearing in another game on the PS3 though!

Seriously anyone trying to defend Naughty Dog is just an insanely blind fan.  It's not like Ellen Page had a fit, she sounded very professional in her comment.  She is in another game and thus Last of Us is in a way competition and Naughty Dog shouldn't be allowed to use her likeness without permission.  Now if she wasn't in the video game world at all, then its another matter, but she is.

In my opinion, it looks like her in some sense (Ellen). The girl who provided the body work and voice doesn't look like her in picture, but then I saw her on IGN in an interview and they were discussing the very same issue. The comparisson shots they used reminded me of the actress in some ways, but Ellen in others.

Yup saw that, but when I saw the actress on IGN discussing the very same issue, I saw some of the linkess there. These pics do not do a good job of showing that. I'll see if I can dig up the interview.

I think they should be careful with that, but i think it would be difficult to prove they have ripped off from Ellen, even if its somewhat probable. I dont think they should do that. But, it might've been a coincidence aswell.

I got an idea.  How about we draw up every character in Naughty Dog's franchises that have similarities with movie stars?  Since clearly a "similarity" means that they ripped the person off.

Here's Charlie Cutter from Uncharted 3 in comparison to Jason Statham.  The similarities are few, way different facial features.  But yeah.  Naughty Dog ripped Jason Statham's likeness off.

Victor Sullivan who clearly ripped off the likeness of Bruce Campbell.  Let's forget that the facial features aren't the same and this picture I lifted was obviouisly a younger Bruce Campbell, but look at that.  Similar hairstyle and similar facial expression.  Why you copying Bruce Campbell, Naughty Dog!!  If anything, Sully looks like more of a likeness to Bruce Campbell than Ellie does to Ellen.

Lolololol. Your post,although intended to defend ND, actually incriminates them even more.  There track record keeps looking worse and worse because you're showing their other offenses. But you seem to forgetting the most obvious one from Uncharted and that is Nathan Drake. Look up Nathan Drake and Nathan Fillion. Again their likeness is uncanny, and again their names are the same.
