Personally, I would have rather seem something a bit more innovative out of Insomniac. Then again, I also would have rather not seen it be Xbox One exclusive.

@Kantor, they're making exclusive DLC for Sony's PS4, I'd say that's close enough. Not the same but close enough. I didn't hear anything from the MS camp against that.

If Sunset Drive ends up being awesome I'm going to have to disagree there.

MS knows Halo is a key franchise for them. It's not the only reason people buy Xbox, but without Halo Xbox's exclusive library looks a little less robust. Unfortunately Ratchet and Clank isn't a key franchise for Playstation any more. The last real R&C game was the first main series game not to make 2 million in sales. And I don't think anyone other than Insomniac can make a decent R&C game. IMO it's much harder to make a game with all the elements of Ratchet and Clank than it is to make a Sci-fi shooter. Which is one reason why I think we get a lot more sci-fi shooters than we do quirky, funny, action platformers. Even Insomiac lost its mojo with the last few games, though all-4-one was fun for 3-4 person co-op. It's a shame for R&C to go out on a fairly low note, but I don't think Insomniac would have it's heart and soul in any further R&C games.

While it's true that 34 has done a creditable game with Halo, by the look of the reviews and the sales. It also seems like they are half a step behond Bungie when it comes to the overall quality of the game. It looks great but everything else isn't quite the same. Why? Because Halo isn't 343's baby, so no matter how much they care, or how much they want to make the best Halo they can make they can't possibly have the same passion and drive as Bungie.

I think it's mostly a bad idea for another studio to pick up a strong franchise, even if the games they produce are very good. Franchises must come to an end. Both Halo and R&C should have been left behind, for perhaps one day Bungie and Insomniac to pick them back up because they feel passion for returning to that franchise. Now Bungie will never go back to Halo. If Sony leaves R&C in the Insomniac files Insomniac may come back to it after several years and make a game every bit as good as the originals.
