i ment: don't play games with interesting stories and/or characters. and most reviewers these days easily get blinded by a hype as well because let's face it, gameplaywise are both bioshock infinite and and the last of us nothing groundbreaking. and for 10/10 scores gameplay should be special as well.

So what a lot of people have been doing is separating the story, atmosphere, and characters apart from the game. These are all part of every game to me. You are taking them away and then saying the game is nothing special? Of course its nothing special if you take away those things because that is what this game is about. You make no sense when you say something like that. The story is great and the gameplay is great. It all blends together into one of the best games I have ever played. How could the gameplay be changed to make this game better? What are some groundbreaking innovations in gameplay that you wish to see in this game?

I like the game a lot, but there is definitely room for improvement. The friendly AI breaks immersion a bit too often. They tell me to be quiet, then stomp around, sprinting from place to place to get into positions, running into clickers in the process. I throw a carefully placed molotov cocktail to lure the clickers into the flames, and my idot AI partner starts shooting to direct them all towards us. I wish I could tell them to stay back now and then.

Luckily most of the time it's not an issue, and the atmosphere is absoluty fantastic. I'm a bit over 7 hours in now, 38% or so complete. Can't wait to see where the story goes.

The game gets even better

What types of games do you prefer? Or what types do you play? I am asking because maybe this game is just not your cup of tea and that is fine. So maybe that's why you don't know what is so good about the game or don't care for it. Nothing wrong with not agreeing with the masses. Heck I don't like Halo and don't see what is so special about it. Nor did I care for either Super Mario Galaxy game. I didn't even find GTA 4 to be the great game it was made out to be . I felt San An was WAY better. But that is just my opinion so nothing wrong there.

I guess my point is you don't like the game because you don't and NOTHING anyone on here says will change that....just my 2 cents.

The absence of evidence is NOT the evidence of absence...

You haven't played the game. You have a Pokemon avatar. I think its safe to say you have no right to be judging this game this harshly. You're being way too critical. Here's a thought: keep your opinions to yourself. Unless you've played the game, your opinions on the game are irrelevant. Sorry.

Oh that's cool, my avatar precludes me from having an opinion about games on Sony platforms.

Next time a game like Journey comes along, I'll just keep my mouth shut about how it deserves to be called Game of the Year then. Or maybe I'll just change my avatar and then expressing my thoughts will be A-OK, right?

Was I harsh about The Last of Us? Didn't I just say it's clearly at least an 8 or 9 out of 10? Doesn't sound so harsh to me.

Has nothing to do with Sony or Nintendo. It has to do with genres. You have a Pokemon avatar so you obviously are a Pokemon fan.
The Last of Us isn't a game aimed at Pokemon fans. It's aimed at the Walking Dead fan, the Resident Evil fan..etc...etc.

I agree on this but I don't think there is a such thing as perfect AI, now or in the future. What you said about the AI running around like that when I'm trying to be stealthy would probably be one of my few complaints about the game. This was done intentionally though so that they wouldn't get you killed while you are trying to use stealth. This only affected me 2 or 3 times throughout the game so it wasn't so bad, especially for a game that took me 18 hours to complete.

About the molotov thing. I think that would be seen as an attack so when you attack, your AI teammates will attack. I didn't use molotov cocktails to lure the clickers, so I never ran into this problem. I would just use a bottle or a brick if I could find one laying around somewhere.  Anyways hope you enjoy the rest of the game like I did!

It keeps getting better. I arrived in Pittsburg and couldn't stop playing, great big areas to explore, best stealth gameplay in a long time. And with only Ellie around it all goes very smooth. Then I got separated from Ellie, sneaking around in the dark alone. It's been an even longer time since I got a genuine adrenaline rush from a game, it's all very well done.
