I only just recently played 3D land so I'll definitely get Sonic first. If the reviews are good enough and it becomes cheap enough I might pick up Mario eventually (typing that made me so very sad).

As of right now, I'm only planning on getting Sonic Lost World. However, I could still get Super Mario Cats in addition to Sonic if they reveal a level creator or if they realize how dumb they're being and add in online multiplayer.
