Imagine a family where a Dad and his two sons want to play Halo against each other.  With the Xbox One, they would only need one copy of Halo, now with the changed rules, they need to buy three.

I'm sorry.... What!? Wasn't the sharing thing works this way,

-> you have it in your library

->your family member(in the family list) can use it when you're not playing it

->when you are playing it, no other people can play it.

I refuse to believe that MS is that lax with this rule.  You are entitled to 1 copy which belongs and is registered to the only one who purchased it. Isn't this what they're pushing with their policies?

Unless I'm mistakening, this guy already is spewing bullshit in the article and calling people idiots.

Not to mention that splitscreen multiplayer only requires one box and one copy of the game anyway. It baffles me how buying three boxes can be considered an awesome solution for multiplayer.

Ahh another point in this retarded article.

I agree with the article (not about calling people idiots or morons) but the overall idea.
While the Xbox One is still offering more than the PS4 without it, I was really looking forward for the no-disc required and shared library...

For those saying Microsoft saved themselves: No, Microsoft could go with this plan anyway and still win as the Xbox One is going to offer a more compelling experience and this is what matter, the long term.

For those saying it was not a minority: Yes, it definitely was a minority of unhappy Xbox fans, mainly Sony fans and the medias. The majority of Xbox fans were okay with that and were actually looking forward into it. Just take this website as the example, majority of basher/haters have a Sony sig and they did not even planned to get an Xbox One in the first place... Of course there are some disappointed Xbox fans but it is definitely a minority... While I'm not pretending this website represents the internet, you can see the same trend on other website.

Now we are back to 10 years ago... Sad...

Pretty funny that the vocal minority seemed to be in the majority when the cheers happened on the Sony press conference. This idea that progress comes at the cost of the rights of the consumer needs to go away.

What microsoft presented us with is not, nor will be the innovation or the future. It needs to be tweaked and you need to give the consumer a choice and not force it down their throats. It just wouldnt ever happen in the form microsoft was trying to do it.

Nothing was lost here. On the contrary. We're now on the right track.

take a look at the steam thread about the same thing. it would have been a great thing for people, just like steam has been great for consumers of PC games. Its too bad there is no innovation this gen from sony or nintendo. Just more of the same. No new inputs, no new groundbreaking anything. what is there to be excited for? Suped up versions of previous consoles? thats what PC are for. I feel the industry is shooting itself in the foot right now. Hopeful;ly the wii u succeeds at least.

The article raises lots of good points, I was happy to deal with the restrictions given the benefits we'd have got. I was delighted I could look at moving to a digital ownership environment where I could share with my friends or play my games anywhere. Looking on this site there isn't a big change of people who complained about DRM suddenly switching their buying decisions.

The mob won and now everyone else will have to deal with the consequences.

vote with your wallet, go the Steam route. I know I will. they have almost everything console gamers do. I think they do motion control, now all they need is a version of kinect (or maybe kinect for PC if that has been released). Steam is also easier than ever to use. I haven't had a PC game issues in a long time (for recent games retro ones will always have issues).

Why do people seem to think blocking used games is innovative? That was the whole point initially and they back peddled and made various other offerings to try to appease the consumers. Consumers still weren't happy so they did a 180 on their policies. however, there was never anything innovative about it at all for gamers. We can still buy digital games, and there is no indication that Ms would have passed any savings onto the consumer at all. That is a ludicrous assumption. Now it seems the minority xbone drm defenders are pulling a cliffy b, well guess what you dont sound any better than cliffy b

because we didn't only see the blocking used games. Steam has blocked used games, and it was probably the biggest game changer in PC gaming. It has made PC gaming easier for consumers, cheaper for consumers, and more profitable for gaming devs. It was win win win all over the place.

It is completely and totally Microsoft's fault for not handling this right at all.  And the impact of this here, and everyone that matters, was that early sales numbers were showing it would of been an unmitigated disaster if they bothered to go on this path they were going.  This path ended up doing in Circuit City, for example.

No.

Preorders did that... it is so obvious.

Umm th er was blocked used games before steam... For one... Also the other things beyond blocking used games.. Ie making them  digital was unneccessary and not the same thing at all as steam... There are, already day one digital on ps3, and will be there on both next gen consoles. So instead of forcing consumers to give up choice they should have left it to begin with or just went all digital. Honestly all these recent events show me that ms is desperate across the board and out of touch.

Posting on phone sorry for funky spellings that might have occurred
