I hope so.
I'm not sure how, considering advances in technology is likely the main reason why developers can't build open worlds anymore.

At least replace the uberly saturated one. It did not look very polished during the January reveal to be honest. Now if I could only find one the same size...

Found another one

I do...like how we saw an explosion of FPS games and Over The Shoulder mechanics this gen I wouldn't be surprised if Open World gets the same treatment and I mean seamless no load times or anything

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.
Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
I enjoy open world games, but I don't want linear games to go away, it is fine to tell a great and tightly controlled narrative. You can also achieve great things with open world, but I generally prefer linear games
Open world games can be very fun and cool to mess around in. But making EVERY game, or rather to see more and more games using that approach, would honestly get kind of boring. It's nice to have linear games/gameplay, so long as it's DONE well. And for the love of god, enough with the fucking QTE type gameplay. I remember a time when you actually fought bosses and played through game sequences on your own, not just hitting a button here or there to initiate some interactive cinematic. QTE absolutely one of the worst gaming concepts of all time, in my opinion.

Damn straight! I don't see the point of them at all. An example is ryse, it looked like an fantastic with dark souls like combat, until every damn kill required an qte.

next gen is the gen where you are just like watching a movie... but theres a twist.... you press x when the screen tell you to press it to behead someone.... very interactive.. i know :)

And this is exactly what is wrong with the gaming industry. A trend that needs to change, and fast.
