First off physical media is NOT going away. No other media has have that happen so i dont know what alternate reality some are living in where they see that is the case.

OT What i will do? NOthing, just like 360 was beating PS3 i still bought PS3 and enjoyed it along with WIi. If we go all digital, i will either just stick to PC which is far superior in that field anyway or just stop gaming.

While its not going to completely go away...It is also true that more an more gaming is becoming a digital event and sooner or later gaming from a disc will be considered retro. They will still exist of course but in a very limited fashion.

When you say limited, what do you mean? Because people have been saying the same thing for books, newspapers, music, movies for years and none of those are limited. I can go to the store and get those just fine. Well except maybe books, but theres Amazon for that. video game files are much bigger than anything i listed and bandwidth needed...a lot of people are just not there yet. SO if the video game industry wants to really go ahead with that, they are going to see the install base shrink like never before.

FYI MS isnt ahead of anyone, SOny already had an all digital game machine.

The physical forms of books, newspapers, music, and movies are dying if you didn't notice.

I would be extremely disappointed with gamers and the gaming industry in general.

Yep.  If all my support plan to give Sony and Nintendo are in vain...well, that's it I guess and likely quit gaming if they follow suit or keep on supporting their niche devices assuming this future did come to pass.

Dying? I can still go to my local store and purchase all of those things.

I guess paper money should have died out when electronic banking came of age too?

Nothing. It won't work in my country anyway.

Pretty much this and since I live in a 3rd world market that is predominently a Playstation country. I doubt MS will support us any time soon.

What are you talking about? Did I say it was going to go away? No I didn't, and on a side note yes using physical money is also dying I personally don't even hold paper cash anymore.

I guess what I don't get is what other than the family sharing thing is going to make the XBOne digital offerings so different from the PS4's? I mean every single game that releases on PSVita is also available digitally day one if you prefer to purchase it that way, and on the PS3 digital copies have DRM to keep people from passing them to everyone ever and instead only allow you to put the game on one other system. Therefore I'd assume that the PS4 will have every new game available at launch for purchase digitally. Often these digital copies are a tiny bit cheaper than the retail as well.

The difference is that PS4 will give you the choice of whether you want a digital copy or a retail one, whereas for the XBOne they've made it so there really isn't any difference between the two.

OT: Be a bit sad about it because I like Sony more, but as long as Sony continues to make consoles and games I can't be too sad if the rest of the industry goes another way.

...

I'm getting fucking tired of these BS topics that I suspect are done by people working for MS through the agencies recently exposed on Neogaf.

I would expect this on VG news sites/blogs because that's what most journalists do, spread propaganda and warp the mind of people to make them accept things.

But on a forum? I'm freaking tired of seeing these BS non-sense topic with completely moot argument, and in fact as someone who has worked with propaganda I can tell you that is nothing by rationalization arguments to twist mind when we all know the obvious...

Well when something dies, yes it generally goes away.

I said dying- which means it's in the process of going away.

I'll start thinking about it if it starts working on my country. For now I have no choice but to stick with PC and get a PS4.
