and is the most expensive

Not necessarily true. PS3 launch price was $500. I built my PC 2 years ago for $600. With a new $200 video card, I can easily surpass the capability of the PS4 and XB1, using my current box.

So thats $800 spent over 2 generations for my PC to remain more powerful than any console system, whereas the PS3 was $500, and eventually came down to a lower pricepoint average of $400. Plus the new PS4 at $400 = $800. Thus, my more powerful PC costs the same that most of the Sony fans paid/will pay for over 2 generations.

but the PS3 is very well known to have been expensive, also you are talking about the price of the console when launched, and comparing it to the price of your PC when you bought it 2 years ago about 5 years after the console was released, the price of the ps3 back then was 250$, not 500$.

im not against PC gaming, as i do own a very strong PC. the amount of money i spent on my PS3+games doesnt even come up to the same price as my PC alone (though, my PC is very strong ) . with used games, renting games and not buying games at launch gaming on a console can be done for very cheap (dont include the X1 in this statement)

the question is, could you get a PC as strong as the PS4 now for 399$? i really doubt it

The more I hear about this, the closer I am to smashing someones high-end PC. (sorry it just really bothers me, let explain).....

Why do people always have to bring up this overrated claim (yes I said overrated) every time we talk about which is the better console, or how good a game looks on said console. Most of us already know PC is the better platform for games...WE KNOW already. So why do they feel the need to cram it down our fucking throats! That's just like saying subs are better than dubs in anime. Cause god forbid some of us console gamers are going to rebel against PC elitists over an argument that we cant win.

/end rant.....phew...I kinda feel better now. Carry on.

I take offence at this statement. In my experience, a competently dubbed anime is far superior to subs. For one, the more subtle aspects of dialogue such as sarcasm can't be properly conveyed through text, even with the Japanese "gibberish" in the background. Two, constantly glancing down to read the subs takes away from the experience, ruins immersion, and even makes well animated shounen fight scenes a chore to watch. Having to follow the sometimes too-fast moving text can make complex Anime more difficult to follow as well. Three, a well made dub will translate some of the more culture specific references in a show. Now, I understand that this is a major minus for some, but I'd rather not have to pause my show to google the meaning of a metaphore that could've just as easily been switched to the western equivalent.

I won't stop there, though, I could argue for the case of console gaming as well. It's cheaper, for one. The fact of the matter is, if you're using your machine solely for gaming, consoles offer significantly better performance per dollar AND performance per watt than PCs could ever hope to match. That cannot be denied. Consoles also have the benefit of being "plug and play." Thanks to their extremely closed design, there's no need to mess around with drivers and the like. You're never left wondering if a game will be able to run on your machine. If it has "Xbox" or "Playstation" on the box, it's guaranteed to work. I've also recently noticed that consoles have significantly better third party controller support, which is a shame.

Then I apologize. I never meant to offend anyone. All I was saying as how people (when it comes to things like anime, pc etc) bring my piss to a boil every time they say things like that when it's so obvious. They like to hold it over our heads like a bunch of elitists. I for one couldn't agree more with the bold. The American audeince will understand the show more when it's localized to english. BTW I think the dub for Panty and Stocking is excellent. Great points about tihngs with PC too. Both have their ad/disadvantages but I prefer console over PC gaming.

Heh, don't take my statement too seriously. When I say I "take offence" at something, I usually just mean I disagree strongly. :P

Anyhoo, I do feel that the PC vs. consoles argument is usually missing the point, but alas, my PC gaming brethren are becoming a bigger fighting force, so I'm certain that we'll be seeing more of this in the next gen console wars.

Ah, and I haven't seen Panty and Stocking yet, but I'll be watching it after I finish Gurren Lagann. Dubs for Gainax anime are usually pretty good.

Nvidia always succeed in telling new things

I don't think graphics are the major advantage that PC have over games consoles myself, it's the free mods and user generated content which gives PC games the edge. Console may catch up over time in terms of graphics and maybe the indie scene, but I can't see any of the big three console manufactures ever allowing such a large amount free user created content to cut into their profit.

I still prefer console gaming however, as I prefer the ability to actually have games in physical instead of digital format. Add to that the glitchy nature I find with PC games, because of have to run on so many different PC configurations compared to console gaming, which are always tailor made to each specific console.

Based on specs of Nextgen consoles, My PC is more powerful. But will I be able to use my current PC to play 2016 PS4/XB1 games at better quality/fps without upgrading? Seriously, I don't know. Anyone?

I left pc gaming in 2004?

console is convienient and comfy. Less messing about.

in fact now i have a 28" hp windows 8 full touch screen pc at home. Quad core, 8gb ram and 2 tb hdd. And all for £700. Its my multimedia baby and workstation for my job. I have a surface tablet which in functions and apps blows away the iPad 3 we had before and i just need to add xbox one. Because xbox one will be the media hub for tv, games, music and apps off my 50" 1080p oled lg 3d tv.
