Forums - Microsoft - Sunset Overdrive Q&A with Insomniac CEO Ted Price

Good luck to them. It looks like a game much better suited to their strengths than what Fuse became.

It certainly stood out during Microsoft's conference to me (but I suppose having "Insomniac Games" at the start of the trailer would do that :P), and I have faith that they'll deliver the gameplay like they always do.

I wonder how long it's been in development. North Carolina put out Ratchet: Q Force last year and Burbank put out Fuse recently. Although it kind of feels like they slacked on Fuse towards the end, that still doesn't leave a whole lot of time for it to have been in development; unless they have a phantom 3rd team I don't know about.

I'm not sure if I understand the hate, this game looks awesome to me. Colorful and vibrant, doesn't take itself seriously. Could be a really fun co-op game can't wait to see some gameplay.

Damned. Still jealous :'(

Rippin' EA a new one. Love it. They were fools for partnering with EA in the first place. But better fools who've opened their eyes than fools to are too stubborn to accept the error of their ways. I now have the strong feeling that Insomniac deliberately pooped in EA's nest so that EA would invoke the no-compensation exit clause in their agreement.

But my, how the worm has turned. Good luck to them. In general they have a pretty loyal fanbase on Sony even if their last 2 Ratchet and Clank games were poorly received. A proper new R&C game would sell well. In the MS crowd they have no history so they are virtually starting from scratch. I get the feeling the end of the Sony/Insomniac relationship was less amicable than their PR teams made out.

Only on Xbone huh? How's that? There's no such thing as the cloud on PC? Sony have come out and said cloud processing is totally available on PS4, it's just not central to the platform. Publishers might need their own servers, or engage 3rd party server farms for PS4 cloud processing, So MS has done publishers a good turn by putting the processing servers in house. But that doesn't make it only possible on Xbone. It makes it easier to do, and less costly to maintain for publishers, which is a good reason to go with Xbone exclusivity, but let's not overstate things.

Insomniac: openly burning bridges since 2013.

LOL...PS4 the only console that will games that won't work unless you have an internet connection...atleast Xbone demands internet for all of them

Man you're desperate. It is far better to leave internet required (and hence cloud processing) decisions to game publishers than to shut your console out of large segments  of the potential market (and not be able to launch world wide) by requiring an internet connection for all games. If game publishers want to limit the potential market on PS4 by requiring an internet connection it's their business decision. And many people with data caps will only want their Xbone to check in once a day and then play offline for 23hrs, 59 minutes and 30 seconds. So I doubt many games will compulsorily require cloud processing. They will use it to enhance the experience, but offline play will be an option for almost all games.

Lets be serious here. Before MS announced the Xbone, and before DRM rumours started floating around, "Nextbox" had the potential to win the 8th generation in a reasonably close 3-way race. Do you really think Xbone has any chance of getting close to PS4 sales globally now? It's even unlikely Xbone will retain its market share in the USA, though I still think it will sell more than PS4 in the USA because 360 has such a large lead. I even think Xbone has thrown Wii U a lifeline and that Wii U has the potential to outsell Xbone globally, whereas when we were still talking about a theoretical Nextbox, and looking at Wii U sales dropping through the floor it seemed "Nextbox" was a shoe in for at least number 2 spot globally.

I've really lost faith in Insomniac, although I never bought any of their games, I always admired them and and was looking for to a non-spinoff Ratchet game. I don't blame them for making an Xbox exclusive, they should see if they can build up a fanbase there. Best of luck to them!

Almost a slap in the face to Sony, who has continually supported Insomniac throughout many years. With the last Ratchet as well as FUSE, I'm starting to lose faith in Insomniac. And now they switch ships completely? I'd be fine with multiplatform, as this is a business. But to abandon your Sony fans completely? Maybe I'm missing something.... But from the outside looking in, it does not indeed look good for Insomniac this gen.

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I want to try this game... looks really promissing.

I don't want to go off topic, but I don't want to make a separate thread for this:

Is Fuse indeed bad or boring? I played the demo, as the redhead (with an awesome carbonizing gun), and it was fucking awesome, from gameplay to creativity, to graphics. Does anybody have the full version here?

Xbox One is online Gamers only...So no..Ps4 will outsell the Xbox globaly..But do you really think Microsoft does not expect a smaller market share this time around?
